Two problems related to brake disc caliper have been reported for the 1998 GMC Sierra. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Catastrophic brake failure on state highway. No accident or injuries, but repairs included brake lines, calipers and pads due to corrosion of said lines and caliper assemblies. Shop said this is a common occurrence for gm products regardless of age of the vehicle.
When braking front calipers stay engaged and do not retract. Consumer is very concerned about brakes reliability.
