1998 GMC Sierra. GMC brake line corrosion investigation. The consumer stated he experienced a corrosion related failure of the line supplying the rear brakes. The failed line went from a fitting over the gas tank to a bracket on the frame over the rear axle. From the bracket, a hose went to the differential, where the lines went out to the rear brake cylinder. An inspection showed no other corrosion.

3 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2005

Noticed while underneath the truck that frame was wet. Could see the brake lines corroded. Noticed this on August 29, 2005. Had not contacted GMC. When pushing the brakes they work, but doesn't feel like it should, it's like stepping on a grape.
