Accelerator Pedal problems of the 1999 GMC Sierra

13 problems related to accelerator pedal have been reported for the 1999 GMC Sierra. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Accelerator Pedal problem

Failure Date: 07/22/2004

Gas pedal sticks occasionally when accelerating. Driver must apply force to pedal causing truck to lunge. I am just putting today's date as the incident date, however it has been happening since I purchased the truck.

2 Accelerator Pedal problem

Failure Date: 01/23/2003

Gas pedal sticks off idle. Causes vehicle to lunge when starting out. Is most likely service bulletin 00-06-04-007a. Contacted gm, they will not pay for part because I am out of warrenty. This is a safety issue and should be a recall.

3 Accelerator Pedal problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2002

Consumer stated that at 32k miles experienced intermittent sticking of the throttle. Dealer inspected and repaired. At 50k miles the problem reocurred. Ts.

4 Accelerator Pedal problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2002

Throttle stuck open after applying accelerator pedal, resulting in a vehicle crash. Dealer and manufacturer have been notified. Feel free to provide any further information.

5 Accelerator Pedal problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2002

Gas pedal will continueously get stuck when driving. Consumer has to pull it back out with both feet. Contacted dealer, and dealer was not willing to do anything.

6 Accelerator Pedal problem

Consumer states that the vehicle has a intermittent problem with the throttle locking up. Dealer and the manufacturer has been notified. Feel free to provide any further information.

7 Accelerator Pedal problem

GMC Sierra has been in shop to many times to keep track of. Truck also has a problem with sticky throttle body which has been dangerous. GMC gave extended warranty in 2000 bacause of problems also issued customer appreciation certificate if I wanted to buy new gm product. Service manager told me to cut my losses and but a new one. GMC will not do a thing for me. Contacted nys attn. General about problems. GMC now has their legal core calling me at home . I have asked them to buy vehicle back research the parts and assembly to protect other owners. GMC says sorry . I asked them how they could warranty rust thru for 100,000 but could not protect abs from corrosion, GMC response was hey you live in new york state. And they are under no financial obligation what so ever.

8 Accelerator Pedal problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2001

Throttle sticks when pressing down to take off. Vehicle jerks and can go faster than intended if brakes are not applied quickly enough. Dealer stated they have heard of problem, but consumer has to come up with money before they can look at vehicle.

9 Accelerator Pedal problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2000

Ever since consumer has owned this vehicle with 48,000 miles on it at time of purchase, throttle would stick when pushing down on accelerator pedal. This defect occurred mostly during low speeds, approximately 2 to 3 times a week. Dealership was examining wheel bearings. Dealer stated that throttle body needed to be replaced.

10 Accelerator Pedal problem

After start up vehicle it started to accelerate, throttle will stick and cause a loss of control over acceleration. Dealership has examined vehicle several times, and has failed to correct problem. Please provide any additional information / attachments.

11 Accelerator Pedal problem

Failure Date: 11/04/1999

Would be driving and removing foot from gas pedal for a short while. Would then depress on gas pedal, and it made a loud metallic bang. Would sound like metal against metal. Took to dealer & mechanic lubricated driveshaft. Was working fine until leaving dealership. Have been in to dealer ten times for problem , and it's not resolved.

12 Accelerator Pedal problem

Throtle sticks from idle, causing truck to lurch forward.

13 Accelerator Pedal problem

While stopping at a stop light and when pressing on throttle pedal to return to normal travel pedal become stuck, causing vehicle not to recive fuel. Please provide further information.
