Eight problems related to brake abs warning light have been reported for the 2000 GMC Sierra. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact received NHTSA recall 05v379000 for abs brake system. The recall repairs were performed, but the contact believed the dealer only partially repaired the vehicle. The abs light was still illuminating on the dash. The dealer said they performed the repair that was indicated on the recall notice. The dealer said they would have to inspect the vehicle to determine the cause of the problem.
The contact received NHTSA recall 05v379000 concerning the anti -lock brake system. He took the vehicle to the dealership, and they performed the recall repairs. The abs light was still on, and the abs did not work. While driving for short periods of time the consumer experienced brake failure. This resulted in extended stopping distance. He contacted the dealership and manufacturer, but the problem was not covered by the recall. The consumer had difficulty shifting into 3rd gear. Updated 12/07/05.
Dt the contact stated the vehicle lurched forward . He pumped the brakes to stop which causes extended stopping distance. The abs system activated under 10 mph. There was a recall, but this vehicle not included. The abs indicator light came on intermittently.
Abs light is coming on. Took vehicle to the mechanic who told the consumer there was a recall, when consumer called manufacturer, they stated that the VIN was not part of the recall.
The contact states there are two NHTSA recalls campaign #05v379000 and 05v161000 concerning the antilock brakes and the parking brake. This vehicle has the same problems as indicated in the recalls, but it is not included in the recalls due to VIN. Updated 12/27/2005 - the abs light has been on for about 6 months and there is no abs. The parking brake has not worked since the vehicle was purchased on 8/12/2003.
2000 GMC Sierra pickup. All of the rotors and brakes were replaced. The consumer currently had to replace the sensors for the abs. The dealer told the consumer that there was a defect. The abs light would come on when it shouldn't. The wheel sensors were bad. Over the course of 6 months, the consumer had to replace the brakes for $1, 000. After replacement, the consumer heard a clunking sound. The service department found that rust had fallen into the right front wheel.
The brake light and anti- lock brake light on the dash comes on and the brakes are spongy. The consumer has not experienced brake failure yet. The consumer has taken the vehicle to dealer and they can't find anything wrong. The manufacturer has not been notified.
There is no indication on the panel that there is pulsation. Also there is no abs noise and light braking power. Dealership is aware of problem. Consumer stated that heat vent cap keeps popping off and replaced. Tail gate bed liner not flat, panel rippled and rescuer rear panel, install additional fastener. Horn pad failed, brakes are squeaky,, abs system checked could not duplicate any problem, brake pedal goes to floor at times and vehicle does not stop, master cylinder leaking internally.
