Nine problems related to brake foundation components have been reported for the 2000 GMC Sierra. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving brakes were making a loud noise . Contacted dealer , brakes locked up. Had part replaced, but problem reoccurred.
Rear disc brakes are of such design that they get wet and rust, which causes them to drag. Rotors wear out prematurely due to this, causing extended braking distance.
Consumer started vehicle up and turned wheels to go, and the wheels would not turn. Also, brakes went out. Brake was pressed down, and steering was very hard to steer. Power steering pump and serpentine belt were replaced. Shaft broke internally.
Brakes will work sometimes and back will not, at times pedal is hard to press and vehicle barely slows down, contacted dealer, and dealer stated nothing wrong with vehicle.
Brakes seem to sputter when depressed heavy/light @ any speed. This problem still continues. General tire brand-rear right tire blew out the side wall on freeway @ 75mph-ran over nothing. Right rear tire was replace @ no cost, due to failure. Problem has not accured yet. Steering wheel always feels loose-has been checked and service claimed "there is no problem". Also mother-in-law has a 2000 4dr ext. Cab with the same brake problems among a few others including ac vents smelling ect. Service has checked and replaced few brake parts(2 times) and problem still accures. All of these problems presist and are a major safety problem to my family and I. We would really like to see these problems fixed before any injuries accure!!!!!.
There is no indication on the panel that there is pulsation. Also there is no abs noise and light braking power. Dealership is aware of problem. Consumer stated that heat vent cap keeps popping off and replaced. Tail gate bed liner not flat, panel rippled and rescuer rear panel, install additional fastener. Horn pad failed, brakes are squeaky,, abs system checked could not duplicate any problem, brake pedal goes to floor at times and vehicle does not stop, master cylinder leaking internally.
Vehicle went out of control and hit the median causing injury to driver and passengers because of brake and steering mechanism failure. Yh.
While traveling at 45-50 mph and when applying brakes with force pedal traveled to floorboard. Please provide further information.
Brakes do not grip as well as they used to, when using the brakes, the vehicle takes a longer distance to stop.
