Two problems related to gasoline fuel system have been reported for the 2000 GMC Sierra. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 2000 GMC Sierra. The contact was driving 35 mph when the fuel gauge malfunctioned. The contact stated that he was unable to determine how much fuel was in the vehicle. The contact had not taken the vehicle to the dealer or a local mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The failure mileage was 41,000.
When starting up the vehicle it ran roughly, and a smell of fuel was noticeable. Consumer took the vehicle to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle and said it was the plenum chamber and gasket that was causing the vehicle to smell like fuel when starting up.
