One problem related to hatchback/liftgate support device has been reported for the 2000 GMC Sierra. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The tailgate cables rusted through and broke, causing the tailgate to detach from the vehicle. The tailgate was being lowered when the cables unexpectedly snapped and rested on the bumper. This hit the consumer on the legs but caused no injury.
