Axle Hubs problems of the 2001 GMC Sierra

Two problems related to axle hubs have been reported for the 2001 GMC Sierra. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Axle Hubs problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2004

The antilock brakes engaged at 10 mph while driving on dry road conditions. The problem was repaired on October 14, 2004. The problem was due to internal hub failure in which both hubs were replaced. The brakes never failed at high speeds. The abs light stayed on.

2 Axle Hubs problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2003

Caller said at low speeds the abs kicked in and made it hard to stop vehicle when slowing down. Caller had the problem corrected three times. Had them replace the abs in the spring of 2003, 2004 and in may of 2005. Dealer said the first time was a hub assembly and the other two it was the rotors. Manufacturer has not been contacted yet.
