Brake Disc problems of the 2001 GMC Sierra

Two problems related to brake disc have been reported for the 2001 GMC Sierra. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Disc problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2005

Vehicle is parked for extended period of time (2+ weeks) and the machined surface on the rear rotors rusts and peals off leaving a rough surface wearing out pads prematurely and necessitating the replacement of the rotors.

2 Brake Disc problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2003

Brake problem w/2001 GMC Sierra. Four wheel disc brakes. Rotors were complelely rusted at 60k miles. Severe loss of brake power although pads were not ignificantly worn. This caused replacement of 4 rotors. Gm mechanic said this is common problem.
