1 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2016

Metal brake lines rusted prematurely @ 29,900 miles causing brake line to rupture. This caused brake failure. Truck had to be towed to dealer who diagnosed rusted brake lines. For future safety all metal brake lines on truck required replacement. Failure occurred in work parking lot so no accident occurred due to failure.

2 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2016

Rusty brake lines lost brakes, think that a vehical should go 10 years without brake lines rusting away I was lucky when they broke I was home but just got back from another state and was at highway speeds.

3 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 03/07/2016

I had a minor vehicle accident when I applied the brakes they went straight to the floor. I hand my vehicle towed to shop and it was found that the brake lines had rusted thru in the bracket on the firewall.

4 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2014

As I was traveling about 35mph approaching a red stoplight I proceeded to press the brake pedal all the way to the floor, with no braking of the vehicle. Luckily I was able to quickly shift the vehicle into neutral and engage the emergency brake and avoid collision. After further inspection I found the hard brake line running to the front left wheel had ruptured causing the loss of brake fluid. The line ruptured in an area where it was severely corroded and upon inspection, the other hard brake lines of the system looked severely corroded also. All will have to be replaced! this failure could have had a very bad consequences at a higher speed, closer proximity to other vehicles, or with a less experienced driver!.

5 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2014

I drive a company truck during the week and make a habit of driving my Sierra once a week as well. I was going down the driveway to the main road when the pedal fell to the floor. No brakes whatsoever. I used the emergency brake to come to a safe stop. I looked under the hood to realize that the brake lines were rusted and had blown a hole. This truck is not that old and I do not live in a northern state where salt corrosion is an issue. I baby my truck and keep it up. I later did a search on the web an found out that thousands of others are having this issue as well. This is ridiculous, this is a bad material choice for brake lines. GMC needs to realize this and recall all of us and install coated, or better yet, braided/poly-covered lines to make sure this never happens again. What if I were traveling at a higher rate of speed and had my family in the car? I can see their stand on this being a maintenance issue, but I have friends with early 80's and 90's model trucks that still have the original brake lines in them, not corroded or rusted, and still work great. Get on the ball GMC and take responsibility for this.

6 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2014

Rusted rear brake line tubing - loss of fluid - no braking power on any wheels - emergency brake was the only way of stopping the truck.

7 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2014

I was driving my 2007 GMC siearra classic 2500hd wt and my brake line failed. I went threw the stop sign out onto a main road and just missed getting t-boned by a tractor trailer. I had no brakes at all. My brakes are all up to date. Brand new brake pads and rotors. I read tons of complaints online of people with the same problem with gm vehicles brake lines rusting out prematurely. My truck only has 32,164 miles on it and is well taken care of. I get compliments on my truck everywhere I go. I got nowhere with gm corporate or marty's GMC in kingston,MA where I bought this truck brand new. They all pretended they do not know anything about these brake lines failing. They now use a different coated brake line to replace the cheaply made brake lines at the customers expense. Please make gm do a safety recall on these failing rusting brake lines before someone gets killed. I was almost not here to tell my story.

8 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 03/28/2014

Brake line left front rusted thru . Had to use parking brake. . Had truck taken to shop replaced line with stainless steel .

9 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 10/24/2013

Brake line burst when I pumped brake pedal prior to start of trailering a horse trailer. GMC dealer stated brake lines were rusted through. Dealer had inspected vehicle week before during tune-up and did not notify me of rust or issues with brake and fuel lines rusting in gm trucks. I found reported issues with rusting brake lines in gm trucks per my own research. Brake lines are being replaced at my expense.

10 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2013

When traveling through an intersection at a green light another vehicle illegally entered the intersection. I saw the vehicle and attempted to stop but when I hit the brakes the pedal went down to the floor and no braking action occurred. I was told I blew a brake line. The car was repaired of the damage from the accident but I had to pay for the brake line repair. After getting the truck back I brought it back to the repair shop for an alignment within a few days. While the repair shop was driving the car in for the alignment a second brake line blew. There is not a recall from GMC and there no reason why the brakes lines should be rusting out and blowing on a car that is well maintained.

2007 GMC Sierra classic. Consumer states brakes failure the consumer stated he had to use the emergency brake to slowly come to a stop. The consumer opened the hood and discovered there was no brake fluid in the reservoir. He added fluid to see where it was going. He noticed that the brake line on top of the chassis was rusted through completely and that was where the fluid was leaking.
