Air Bag Light On problems of the 2008 GMC Sierra 1500

Tl the contact owns a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that the air bag sensors in the vehicle were corroded. The air bag indicator was illuminated before and after the failure. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not provided. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

Takata recall: in July 2016 I received a letter from GMC ref. Gm recall 49152 which stated that I would be notified when parts are available to remedy your vehicle. I never received anything and in the meantime the airbag light came on. In the summer of this year I called the local dealership and they set up an appointment to replace the airbag because of the recall. I had to cancel that appointment because I could not make it to the appointment. I later called the dealership to setup another appointment and this time was told that GMC was not going to fix/replace the airbag. I already spent over $1200 to replace the front brake components because of extensive rust which damaged the front brake system to the extent the wheels would no longer rotate without great effort. This truck was originally owned by someone in PA, then on the eastern shore of maryland thru may 2016. There is a lot of rust on the undercarriage of this vehicle - from I assume, salt and water.

The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Len stoler Chevrolet of west minister, maryland was contacted about the recall and stated that the contact would have to pay to have the air bag indicator assessed. In addition, the dealer stated that there was no remedy available for the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and provided case number: 8-245-208-9108. The contact stated that the "service air bag" warning and passenger air bag indicators illuminated. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was unknown. Service airbag light comes on and gos off dealer said some 2008 s were covered but not mine yet dealer is gm superstore cooks in vassal mi 1 year ago I fought with them for power steering they would not do month after that recall was issued they did not contact me I had to research it and year later contact them also round year ago I had to contact them for recall on ignition with recent problem air bag service light all they want to do is charge me 90 dollars to diagnose it seems like with their mishandling of other two recalls least they could do is spend 5 minutes to diagnose airbag light seems like the hhr. Service airbag light came on and when I went to the dealer I told it is a bad sensor that needs to be replaced, I asked the dealer if this comman they said no but there seems to be alot of compliats on the web.
