The vehicle was in motion and took a turn the dashboard chimed and showed a "service stabilitrak", and redcution in power steering, and hvac went off and came back on and I lost power steering. Everything flashed and flickered. Upon further assessment at my house stationary turning the wheel reactivated the problems and it was also noticed that the lights would flicker and go dim along with the dashboard lights. Looked up some recalls and saw some recalls on 2014 GMC sierra with loss in power steering, however my vehicle was not included in that. I have a brake recall that I will be servicing and hopefully that might solve this dangerous electrical problem.
In the last 2 months my truck has lost all electric power while making a slow right turn. Voltage drops and I lose power steering. Dealership put a new battery despite there being an active recall for this exact issue. However, my VIN number is not included in the recall. I was able to video it happening. It happens when the vehicle is in motion.
During normal driving in town and on highway, stabillitrak deactivated and power steering assist deactivated flashes on dash. The air conditioner and radio flash off. Lose power steering. The whole truck shut off also once while reversing, went from park to reverse and shut off. This had been very dangerous, as it happened also while going 70 mph on the highway.
While driving down the highway with my 3 year old daughter in the back seat, a warning light for my power steering comes up on my dash and immediately I lose my power steering and have to try to pull my wheel so I can stop on the side of the highway. After turning my truck off and restarting it my power steering comes back and drive it home. I call the dealership and there is a recall for my truck and I bring it in. 2 days after the dealership says they fixed the problem a get the same warning light and lose my power steering again with my daughter in the back seat. I take my truck back to the dealership and tell them my power steering went out again. Not 24 hours after I get my truck back for the 2nd time my power steering goes out again driving down city street. Bringing my truck in for the 3rd time for the same issue, the dealership now says I have to pay them $142. 00 for them to diagnose what's wrong with my truck. Why am I held responsible for an issue gm has known about since 2009?.
My truck loses power steering when turning left and practically comes to a stop mid turn. It takes approx. 5 seconds to be able to continue through the turn. Stabilitrak notifications constantly alert on the dash for traction control, steering assist, etc and when doing slow maneuvering the a/c, stereo, and steering assist shutdown for a split second. Recall is open under n172085440 for 2 weeks now and I know other people experiencing these same safety steering issues waiting for the fix to be published for this recall. Please expedite the recall fix ASAP!!.
