While exiting highway I attempted to come to stop and my brake pedal was extremely stiff and I had to put hard pressure into brake to come to a complete stop before rear ending the vehicle in front of me. Luckily, I was able to stop before a collision occurred. I was able to get to my destination on city streets, but my brake pedal remained extremely stiff. I was very close to causing multiple accidents due to this brake issue.
At slow speeds brake pedal is hard to push and does not stop the vehicle. Almost caused multiple accidents at intersections not being able to stop vehicle from going out into traffic. Doing research this has happened on multiple gm vehicles from 2014.
Brake system will turn hard once pressed on. Abs system.
Tl - the contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while attempting to park the vehicle, when depressing on the brake pedal but the vehicle failed to stop. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact state he pumped on the braked until it stop the vehicle. The contact was able to drive to his residence. The vehicle was taken to local dealer fairground auto plaza (100 fairgrounds rd, rolla, mo 65401, (573) 364-1002) and was informed his VIN wa associated to NHTSA campaign number: 19v645000 ( service brakes, hydraulic). The vehicle had recall repairs completed but stated he continued to experience the failure intermittently. The contact stated the vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired as of yet. The manufacturer had been informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 121,000. Dp.
My vehicle brakes become spongy or pedal goes all the way in and vehicle will struggle to stop at low speeds. Such as when I pull into a parking space or backing up.
Hard braking required to stop vehicle at low speeds. No braking at low speed.
When I am braking at low speed my brakes start locking up and eventually do not work. This has happened on multiple occasions. I have almost wrecked multiple times I rarely drive my truck now cause it is unsafe. There is a recall on the brake booster 2014 to 2018 GMC seria but my truck VIN is not included on that recall and it’s doing the exact same thing. Gm recalls 3. 4 million pickups and suvs over brake pump sept. 12, 2019 1 the recall includes the chevy silverado and GMC sierra (model years 2014-2018), and affects a vacuum pump defect that may make it more difficult to brake at low speeds.
Excessive hard brake pedal when driving at lower speed, almost got in accident while in traffic due to truck pedal getting hard and truck would not brake. It only happens al low speed or driving in parkinglots.
At low speed stopping I have no breaks, backing up down a boat ramp with a boat I have no brakes. I had the the abs module and pump changed out and still have the same problem.
Some time traveling between 60-70 mph the truck has a vibration or something, but if I tap the break pedal it stops. I've had this four times on the interstate. Took truck to the dealer, they found no code listed. Just this weekend as I was exiting the interstate ramp to I-71 south the truck was slowing down and I had pull off the interstate. It was as if the braking system was being applied, truck would not move . Break pedal was very hard to press. I turned the truck off for a couple of minutes and restarted, pedal was still very firm but after pumping pedal, I heard this sound like you were passing gss yourself and then the petal was back to normal. I was lucky that this did not cause a wreck as my speed was being reduced to a slow speed having to pull on interstate.
The brake pedals becomes very stiff at low speeds and does not brake properly. I rear ended a vehicle at 15 miles an hour because the truck did not stop.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. While driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle suddenly veered to the left. The driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a ditch. The rear passenger wheel dislodged from the vehicle and was located approximately 150 yards from the crash sight. The air bag did not deploy and the driver sustained a bruised neck. Medical attention was not received. Police report number: spc32b7n80x was filed at the scene. The contact discovered that a 10-inch section of the brake rotor was missing from the vehicle. The vehicle was recently serviced for NHTSA campaign number: 19v645000 (service brakes). The manufacturer and hudson GMC (2023 south rd, poughkeepsie, NY) were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 72,000.
Took it to the dealer for the recall on the abs breaks, and now it is doing exactly the same thing that it was recalled for. The recall was not helpful.
Tl- the contact owns a 2014 GMC seirra 1500. While the contact's wife was driving 45 mph, she attempted to stop the vehicle; however, the brake pedal became difficult to depress and would not stop the vehicle. The contact's wife crashed into the back of another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. The contact's wife sustained minor injuries that consisted of whip lash. The contact's wife did seek minor medical attention their was no one else in the vehicle with the contact's wife. The person that the contact's wife crashed into sustained a bruised leg. The contact didn't know if the other person seek medical attention or not. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not totaled the vehicle was towed to a local body shop. Body work was being repaired as of now. The brakes were not serviced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 105,000. The crash was not in relation to any open recall. The failure mileage was 102,000. Jw.
I came up to an intersection, pressed my brakes, and they were hard to press causing me to run the red light and almost hit another vehicle. Even if a part fails, this should not be an outcome. Brake petal so hard you can't get the vehicle stopped.
Brakes suddenly lock and the peddle to break gets really stiff that when im trying to brake it does not work. . . I have had this issue happen to me twice already , I was able to avoid an accident because I used the emergency brake,, I was out of town and when I was arriving to the hotel my brake peddle locked and could not brake the parking concrete stopper prevented me from hitting thr building , I noticed that when I shut off tht truck and turn it back on thry work normal again and I am able to brake just fine this happens randomly , I can be on my normal routine for a month then all of a sudden the brake peddle gets stuck,, it looks like its a software glitch like the stability track turning on when its not supposed to , other people are having these issues with these trucks, please investigate. .
Breaks do not work at low speed in reverse, break pedal goes all the way to the floor and excessive pressure must be applied in order to stop vehicle, this is extremely unsafe due to low visibility when backing the vehicle.
When truck is put in reverse, all power brakes are lost. Assumption is a fault vacuum pump.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. While depressing the brake pedal to stop the vehicle, the pedal was very difficult to depress and the stopping distance increased. The vehicle was taken to abeloss GMC (1169 north 9th st, strougsburg PA, 18360) where it was diagnosed that the brake booster was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 80,000.
At slow speeds and brake pedal requires immense force (~200lbs) to press and engage brakes. Significant grinding can be felt in the pedal. This often requires emergency brake usage to stop. Condition is intermittent. Occasionally happens in reverse occasionally forward with wheel turned or without.
Brake pedal randomly requires significantly higher pressure to slow/stop the vehicle, particularly at slow speeds. Has happened 2-3 times over the past year and this week is occurring more frequently; even daily.
While backing slowly on a boat launch ramp, petal was depressed all the way and the tow vehicle did not stop immediately. Felt as though the petal was to the floor, vehicle rolled up to several feet before stopping. Towing roughly 6800 lb. Which is within specification limit for this specific vehicle.
All happened same day. Was 8 hours from home and pulling into parking spot and the brakes went to the floor 3 times. Has not occurred since. But when that happened the air started blowing warm and the service driver assist came on briefly. Still air is blowing warm and the service driver assist comes on. Have never had a check engine light come on. I am having it checked out this week.
Two different times being at low speed almost a roll. Went to apply brakes and truck barley stopped. Hard brake pedal, brake pedal to the floor. Once on a highway in extreme heavy traffic on a down hill. Second time rolling making a turn to park in a parking lot and almost struck police car and a gas pump.
The vacuum assist pump on my 2014 GMC sierra went out suddenly during my morning commute. The brake pedal became very firm and the brakes were unresponsive. If I had been driving in an congested area an accident would likely occur.
I lost the use of my brakes at low speed today, the pedal became extremely hard and needed increased effort to depress the brake pedal, took to a GMC dealer they couldn't recreate the same issue and they are returning my vehicle without any repairs.
Brakes have not been working at slow speeds. This has been going on for a few years. Brought it to a brake specialist who could not find the problem. Researched it on the internet and found that many people were having problems with a similar issue. They thought it was a faulty vacuum pump. Brought it to GMC beaman in nashville, TN and saw scott miller (service advisor for beaman automotive). They reported they were not willing to fix the issue and that it would be close to $1000 to fix it. I find this unacceptable after doing research and finding that GMC's parts (not wear and tear) are more likely than not the etiology of the problem. I ask that the dealership be contacted regarding this given the obvious safety risk of the large vehicle not being able to stop. Regards, chad d. Elkin, m. D. , fasam, fcp chadelkin@hotmail. Brake pedal became very stiff and unresponsive at low speed. Almost hit another vehicle. Had to use emergency brake to come to complete stop. Online forums say brake vacuum pump.
At low speeds braking is very hard can barely push in the brakes. Sometimes I have to use the emergency brake. Truck has 69,000 miles. At the brake place they said I had a bad vacuum for the brakes and is very common in this truck.
Brake pedal got hard , the dash center gave no warning and still has no fault light or any brake warnings lights. We where driving on a city street ,when the brakes stopped working, driving through a red light because we couldn't stop the vehicle and popped the street curb, into an empty property lot.
On two separate occasions, each at the end of a two hour drive, I was pulling into a parking space and lost all power to my brakes. They did not depress to the floor, they seemed to almost push back. At that point I pushed harder and the brake pushed to the floor. In both instances I almost hit the parked cars next to me. Due to not having proper braking I had to back up and pull back in, brakes continued to do the same thing. After coming back to my truck in both instances, once after a week at the airport and another after a four hour appointment, my brakes worked fine. This happened on July 16, 2018 and April 11, 2019.
Was driving through dunkin donuts drive thru when lost my brakes. Had to press the break pedal as hard as I could to get the truck to stop. The truck continued to roll after doing so almost hitting car in front of me. Then sounded like abs pump kicked kn. Then everything went back to normal.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. While driving various speeds, the vehicle hesitated to decelerate and the brake booster warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer and the brake booster was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 124,000.
Vacuum pump on brakes went out while driving downhill in a canyon. Could have been a lot worse if weather conditions were not good.
2014 GMC sierra vacuum pump failure at 81,201 miles. This seems to be an epidemic with these trucks. I tow an 8,000 pound trailer and to think the truck brakes could potentially not work is insanity. How does gm make the steering electric on this truck and put electric vacuum pumps on the camaro's and corvettes but decides to put a mechanical vacuum pump on the trucks? this is an immediate safety defect that needs to be addressed.
