When at highway speeds of approximately 65+ mph the vehicle begins to vibrate or shake violently as if the rear end of the truck is about to fall out. It is bad enough to make you white knuckle the steering wheel cause you to swerve slightly.
While pulling into a parking lot ant a friend apartment I was turning into a parking spot when the truck completely died causing no power steering or braked nearly causing me to hit his neighbors car.
Wheel got real hard to move.
When exiting from one highway to another in heavy traffic were breaking was required, my trucks power steering and power brakes had completely gone out. I was on a straight track for a highway patrol who was standing outside his vehicle along with another motorist. After fighting to steer the truck while trying to brake to avoid hitting other motorists I realized that the truck had also died. Shook up and scared I started the truck and began to drive away with the officer yelling what the hell are you doing. The truck has done this several times. Three of which almost resulted in an accident. It has been in the dealership were they told me it was a high resistance in the negative battery cable which was replaced and resulted in no change.
I only have 57,000 miles on my truck, which is why I am reporting this. The truck turns off completely. I have been going to make a right/left turn and the truck shuts down completely. I have no power steering and limited brakes. This has happened to me twice now. I am lucky enough that I am strong enough to turn the truck without power steering otherwise I would have hit vehicles both times this happened. There has to be some type of electrical flaw that is making this happen. I want to get this resolved before my insurance company has to get involved because I am in a car accident. If this is something the manufacturer takes care of that would be great, otherwise I would just like to know if someone else has had this issue and has found the resolution.
Intermittently losing power steering. Stability track light comes on for no apparent reason, headlights dim when applying brakes.

Vehicle was parked at work. Started the vehicle to go home and backed out of space and that is when there was no steering available. I could only go back. So backed it into another parking space, and had to leave the vehicle until the next morning when I had it towed to the nearest gm dealership. They now tell me that the module is dead and that it will cost us to replace this. Also when replacing the module, if they find the steering rack needs to be replaced, we will be responsible for this as well, on top of labor charges. I had only recently purchased this vehicle 7 months ago. I am very disappointed with the response from GMC in this matter.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500. While the vehicle was stationary, the steering seized. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and the battery was replaced, but it did not correct the failure. Crain Buick GMC of conway (710 south amity road, conway, arkansas 72032, (501) 542-6045) was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 36,100. The VIN was unknown.
When making slight left turns, the truck would flash stabilitrak on the display and the steering wheel would automatically pull out of my hands and make the wheels straighten up. The radio would then go dead and then 5 to 10 seconds later the entire truck would turn off. This happened while driving down the road. This happened on 2 separate occasions with no other warnings. I contacted GMC and they have not given me any type of answer or assistance.
The contact owns a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500. While driving at a low speed or while idling, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to engage. The contact stated that the failure was also evident while driving in reverse at a low speed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The local dealer and the manufacturer were not notified. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v339000 (steering, service brakes, hydraulic). The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.
While at low speed and at stops while turning the wheel the entire dash and engine cut off and come back on. The steering also locks up to a point of not turning either way. All incidents happened on a very smooth flat road. This put my life in danger on one occasion while turning on a highway where my entire truck shut off mid turn. I have video of this occurring on my phone if you would like to reach out to me for that. I believe this to be a stabiltrac issue, one of GMC's traction control branding things. I have seen this issue all over google while searching it and it needs to be recalled! I would like to know if this will happen.
Truck has 3 problems that can put my family's life in danger. 1- sometimes out of nowhere at low speeds when you turn the steering wheel to make a left or right turn the 'stabilitrac' light flashes in the screen and locks and won't let you turn the steering wheel. At this point you have no control of the steering wheel, it locks and bounces back at you and if you keep trying to turn it, the engine cuts off all power and it stalls, just dies. I almost got read ended a couple of times already due to this problem. Just this morning I was making a right onto a local mcdonald's and the steering wheel locked and the engine died on me. I had to quickly turn it on again and keep going. Another time it happen as I was merging into traffic. Very scary! problem number two, I think its just a matter of time before the steering wheel locks on me on high speeds. Sometimes when I'm on the freeway, the same chimes come on when I step on the brakes, the center screens goes black, and the same 'stabilitrac' warning comes on the smaller screen behind the steering wheel. I'm afraid to take it on a winding road for fear that the steering wheel will lock on me cause an accident. 3- service brake controller sign and chimes come on ant won't go away. It jus keeps on popping on and on and on and they go away when you turn off the truck, and come on again months or weeks later. I did have it checked at my local dealership. They tested it, sold me new ground and hot wires. It was good for about 4 weeks before the same problems came back again. I did some research on some of the forums and you tube videos and by far I'm the only one with the same problem. Very afraid to cause an accident.
The first issue is popping coming from the front end of the vehicle causing a steering issue. This has been "repaired" multiple times with no resolution. Every time the popping occurs which is almost every turn the steering wheel will not turn. The next issue is the radio is causing driver distraction by changing stations and screens not just on the display itself but the instrument cluster as well. The radio has been replaced once due to the fact it was on backorder for 6 months another attempt has not been made. The third issue is the brakes have failed at slow speeds no warning lights were on, they just stopped working in the mcdonald's drive-through. I had to get out of line to keep from rear-ending the person in front of me. Now, after that experience, the abs light has come on and the service stabilitrak flashes on the dash as well as parking assist off, everytime I hit the brakes. .
Electric steering started leaking took it to dealer wasinformed unit has to be replaced at a cost 1660. Dollars truck has 76000 miles.
Vehicle is shutting off at any given speed, ie. 35 mph in town or 70 mph on a highway with oncoming traffic. When vehicle shuts off, loss of all control of the vehicle takes place. No brakes, no steering, nothing until the vehicle randomly turns back on. This is not a consistent occurrence to know when it is going to happen or be prepared for it to happen. I watched my husband shoot across the road into the other lane and almost put the vehicle over a bank one night when it happened. This has been an issue since January 2018 for us, we have taken it to the dealer where it was purchased multiple times for them to tell us they can't duplicate the issue and nothing is coming up in their system for an error code. It has caused a major inconvenience for my family, as we don't dare put our children in the truck leaving the responsibility solely on one parent to transport the kids to and from daycare. I worry for the safety of my husband on a daily basis.
Power steering comes and goes, when it goes you cannot hardly steer vehicle. GMC says my truck not covered under recall and wants 2500 to fix problem. Mostly does it in a low speed turn.
The contact owns a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500. While driving approximately 35 mph, the steering ability became extremely difficult. The message center displayed "power steering, drive carefully". The contact had to pull over to the side of the road. The contact turned the vehicle off and then proceeded to have it towed to monumental Chevrolet in houston, texas. The dealer diagnosed that the power steering rack fractured and had to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 15,000.
Loss of power steering assist, steering wheel jerks or kicks back when turning, messages with warning chime appear on instrument panel which also goes blank or inoperative, engine stalls and dies. This happens while vehicle is in motion on city street or hwy i10 (in bumper to bumper traffic) and when turning or backing up into a parking spot. This has happened before but more recently lately (at least once a day since 9/16 -9/18/2017).
The contact owns a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500. While driving 5 mph, the steering wheel became extremely difficult to turn. The engine also lost power without warning and the rearview camera display failed to function. The failure recurred two other times. The vehicle was taken to phil moore Buick GMC (5728 I-55 north, jackson, ms 39211), but the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000.
Has had an issue with accessories flashing off and back on. Reported it to a GMC dealer and they were unable to duplicate but said that the battery was bad and most likely what was causing it. It did fine for a while then began doing it again. This time however it caused a loss in power steering and I ended up in the ditch. Later it did it in a parking lot and was able to video tape it. Took it to the dealer and showed them the video. They were unable to duplicate for 4 days while I was paying for a rental because mine wasn't safe to drive. On the fourth day I provided them with a service bulletin I found that addressed the issue as being a fluctuation in power and for them to check the cables and do a drop load test. They did and it failed. I then had to pay 376. 00 to replace them plus having to pay for a rental after asking for a loaner. This is a problem a lot of people are having. Just a quick google search makes that plain. Gm isn't wanting to admit it. I have the video but I don't think it will allow me to upload it to the form.
On 2/5/2017 while turning unto my street the steering wheel locked and I could not move my truck from hitting a block wall. I also tried breaking but the car did not stop in time to not hit the wall. I was driving slowly (20 mph) because I was in a neighborhood and me and my family were all wearing seatbelts so no one was seriously injured. The airbags did not deploy at all. And I also bent the steering wheel in half trying to move it. I am attaching a picture of the steering wheel itself and the vehicle is currently at caliber collisions for the repairs. I went to the gm dealer and they said they would run diagnostics after the truck comes out of the shop.
On Tuesday, December 20th 2016 at approximately 7:15pm while driving south on new river road in Lincoln ri I tried to make a left turn onto a side street. When I turned the steering wheel left it was snatched out of my hands and the steering wheel automatically turned back to center it self. I could not manuver the vehicle as it rolled up onto the sidewalk where I had to use the emergency brake to force the vehicle from rolling into a tree. The vehicle dic displayed "park assist" and afterwards the vehicle went completely dead. . . No lights or sounds when I tried turning the key to restart it. Lifted up the hood and all the electronics came back on and vehicle started. Dic prompt displayed "open and then close the driver side window" had vehicle taken to dealer for service.
Steering rack makes a loud clunking/clicking noise when turning in either direction.
I am in receipt of the paperwork concerning the above claimed for my vehicle. The paperwork in my possession clearly states that farmers insurance has made me aware that my vehicle ¿has been determined to be a total loss¿. I am concerned about these findings since it seemed my vehicle only suffered minor damages to the exterior only. Airbags where not deployed nor any windows shattered. I am also in receipt of the paperwork concerning my claim and determining I am 51% at fault towards the accident. I clearly gave my side of the story to the police office that my steering wheel had locked and I was unable to maneuver the vehicle. I was not under the influence of any drugs so I feel mechanical failure should be assessed. Supplemental information was also sent to me where it clearly states recall notices for my vehicle. Recall notice NHTSA campaign id # 14v719000, dated by the manufacturer November 10, 2014 states a recall notice naming the steering as the component needing to be replaced. I never received any information from the manufacturer GMC/Chevrolet concerning this matter. Upon review of this letter, please also take into consideration the recalls that you have provided me and reconsider pursuing of subrogation from a third party, I. E. GMC/Chevrolet manufacturer.
I purchased a GMC sierra 2015 regular cab from your company representative, aljomaih automotive company in the kingdom of saudi arabia. However, after a few months, I discovered that the vehicle had several defects, and it exposes its users to serious threat. After that, ministry of commerce in kingdom of saudi arabia has made several callsfor users of the same vehicle that they have to check with the representativeto fix the defect for free. However, the representative temporized and evaded, then I had to file a lawsuit against aljomaih automotive company, general motors’s representative in the kingdom of saudi arabia. The court ordered the experts' department to checkthe vehicle by five specialized workshops, and reports were issued unanimously on the following: "the defect in the mentioned vehicle is a factory defect, which was found in all vehicles of the same type and not only the mentioned vehicle". Also, I have submitted report to the court from the general motors website proving that the mentioned vehicle is faulty with three other defects. As well as, all six calls were issued by the ministry of commerce, including the mentioned vehicle, with the chassis number.
