On 3/4/2018 I took my truck in for a broken leaf spring. When the mechanic was replacing the springs, he notes holes rusting in the trucks frame. I did buy the truck used from a Chevrolet dealer on 3/12 2016 with @49,000 miles on it. With in 6-8 months of owning the truck, it started to rust on the fender wells, and had some rust on the frame. When I talked to the dealer they said there is nothing they can do for me because the 6 year or 100,000 mile warranty ran out on 10/1/2018. I called GMC customer care about this and they did open a service request # 9-5127228506. On 4/8/2019 service manager for the dealer told me the gme will do nothing for me because it will cost $12,000. 00 to replace frame bet may ofer me a certificate for $1000. 00 towards a new trucks. I fell this is unexceptionable to me because the safety of me and my family when we are in the truck. We brought the truck because in has a good safety rating be with holes rusting in the frame I fell my safety is compromised every time I drive it.

I purchased this truck a few months ago. Within a week I had a CO worker point out the bed was leaning toward the cab. A few weeks later we got under the truck to find out what was going on. We noticed alot of rust. I looked on line to see how to fix it and found alot of people were dealing with the same issue. I decided to get some sheet metal and weld it to the frame. I then asked my boss who owns a welder if he could help me with it. He said there wasn't anything left to weld to. Then the truck started not going into park. And to start it you'd have to start it in neutral and it would not stay in park, it would roll and the emergency brake no longer worked. I then had my parents to take the truck to a body shop to see if they could repair it. Both body shops said it was not repairable that the frame was rusted out and needed replaced. One shop said that the parking issue could be from the frame bending, but did not know without getting into that. They also told them that the truck was unsafe to be on the road. I financed this truck for $5500 and now I'm paying payments on a truck I can't even use.

The contact stated that the rear suspension, front suspension, and starter support showed excessive rust. Additionally, the shock tower, supports, transmission bolts, four wheel drive actuator, and hardware also showed excessive rust. Brake lines rusted , abs failure ,gas lines rusted, trans cooling lines rusted. These were all failures that needed replacement through the years I have owned it. Now frame rusted and cracked . Truck basically shot .
Frame cross member behind the cab is rusted through. I have owned vehicles in "salt" states and not had the frame rust out. This should not be considered a "wear item". This can lead to a failure whereby the fuel tank falls down leading to a high risk of fire. This was found during a replacement of the brake line (3rd set) assembly and removal of the truck bed.
There is a service bulletin from gm about frame rust on all GMC 2014 1500 sierra and chevy 2014 silverado 1500 light duty pick up trucks. The frames and some important bolts are highly rusted. They only touch-up spots they can access at the dealership. The facility where they were produced used a poor quality waxy paint coating. The dealership cannot guarantee a complete solution for this frame rust. This is a very dangerous problem in the future of the life of the truck. The frame could decay and the bolts can break off. This is not fair for a $40,000 to $60,000 truck. You can spot the rust right from the dealership new truck lot. I read on the gm truck forum on the internet hundreds if not thousands of these trucks have this issue. I will feel very unsafe driving this truck a few years from now. There are some photos of a few rusted areas in the gm service bulletin which you obtain.

Radiator leaking from top corner driver side and passennger also rust on frame.
Failure of underbody/frame rust undercoating. The undercoating has completely flaked off the frame of my truck with 90k miles. I am the only owner of this vehicle which has been garaged since day one. The vehicle is also rusting thru from the underside of the hood. I have contacted GMC about this issue both in person & on the phone. They have denied any liability in this matter.

Power steering hose has rusted and began leaking. Noticed a lot of undercarriage and frame rust on the whole truck.
For over 45k miles I have complained off a vibration coming from the rear of my GMC sierra at 65 to 75 miles per hour. My supporting dealer that I purchased it from can't find the problem and is most likely out of business. This is an ongoing issue. Recently I went under the truck to find the entire frame is rusted from the gas tank back to the rear off the vehicle around the spare tire and elsewhere. Whats wrong with gm manufacturing, are they that cheap, that no paint is place on the frame. Additionally the chrome wheels that came with the vehicle are corroding yet another cheap process that gm refuses to address. Mind you I have always fixed and repaired my own vehicles. I have washed this vehicle so much by using a cold water hose under the vehicle and the top as well to get the salt and brine used by the northern states off the car and yet I still get the corrosion. How do I get gm. To fix the wrongs they have produced.
The 2010 GMC sierra ld 1500 had multiple premature failures associated with the electrical system. The failure were pertaining to the radio associated with an internal short from the instrument cluster/panel and the drivers side electronic function panel. Months after owning the vehicle, a failure progressed in which the driver was unable to use the function buttons for the windows and unable to lock or unlock the doors from the electronic function panel unless using the key fob to lock and unlock the doors. Only the front passenger and the rear passengers may wind the windows down due to the failure. The driver was only able to wind the window down on the drivers side due to the failure. In addition, the aux function shorted prematurely so when attempting to attach a device, it may or may not connect due to an internal electrical short in which it may not recognize the device (phone, mp3, tablet or ipad/ipod). An abnormal noise progressed from the front of the truck and upon a mechanics inspection, it was diagnosed that the upper control arm needed to be replaced, the drivers side window switch panel and recommended taking the vehicle further diagnostic testing on the internal electrical failures. There was also progression of premature rust under the frame in which the mechanic recommended coating the frame to prevent any further rusting under the vehicle. The vehicle was to be taken to the dealer for further testing and diagnosis. The approximate failure mileage was not available.

I have severe frame rust to the point where the frame has a crack halfway around it near the rear suspension. The factory mounted tow hitch literally broke completely off of the frame due to the amount of rust that was built up around the welds while I was towing my camper, luckily I had just made it home from a trip from camping when this occurred. I can literally peel off 1/8" thick pieces of rust at a time, the truck is no longer operable due to the safety aspect, I have never seen rust like this on any vehicle, even ones that have been around the ocean and salt, after reading many complaints about the same issues with these particular model and year trucks ranging from 1999-current I have decided to file a complaint, maybe if your administration gets enough of these complaints something can be done to correct the issue and hopefully gm will do something to compensate so many of their disappointed customers or better yet fix the issue, this will be the last gm truck I purchase due to their negligence and after reading 100's of complaints of the same issue gm doesn't seem to care they just give the run around just like when I have had problems with my vehicles in the past under warranty.
My 2000 GMC sierra's frame is extremly rusted. Parts of the frame have rusted completly through. All the brakes lines have been replaced due to rust as have many other brake parts. I purchased the truck used but previous owner stated he replced the brake lines due to a low speed accident.

Dear sir, I have a 2002 GMC pickup that has had the spare tire fall out of its mount due to severe rust of the frame. Upon further investigation my frame has severe rust in several other areas. I have contacted GMC and was basically told to have a nice day! I purchased this vehicle new and it has 57,000 miles total. My body shop tells me that the only way to repair this frame is to replace it! I find it appalling that GMC sells a $40,000. 00 vehicle that has a life cycle of 8 years. I cannot sell this vehicle to anyone and tradein would be a joke. Is there any way you could make GMC face this problem and resolve it? either replace the pickup or frame? any help would be greatly appreciated!
