The tailgate intermittently opens while driving or parked.
Driving on the highway and the top section of the grill (approx 4" x 50") broke loose and went over the cab of the truck. The piece didn't hit my truck or any other vehicle, but the driver behind me swerved to avoid it. All of the clips that hold the chrome piece to the vehicle are still attached to the body. I made contact with the local dealer's service dept. And was told my VIN was not in a recall for this issue. I contacted gm customer care and was told the recall hasn't been extended to my vehicle and that I would have to pay for the replacement. If gm extends the recall to the other known issue model years I could be reimbursed. There seems to be numerous other complaints of this issue that aren't covered by gm.

I was driving down the interstate and the hood valance blew off and hit my windshield.
I had the recall performed to reinforce the upper grille deflector on my truck because there was risk of it flying off at highway speeds. Last week driving down the highway my grille deflector flew off and had the car behind me not swerved, they would have been struck by it. I have an appointment at my dealership tomorrow.

I was driving at 65mph through a construction zone on my local freeway - through a construction zone. With cruise control on, my upper bezel portion of my grill detached. It slammed into my windshield and hit the semi behind me after bouncing off the road. Luckily, neither of us swerved drastically. However, with workers in the area, this could have been a catastrophic event. After contacting my local gm dealership, I was told "yeah, that just kind of happens from time to time". When relaying that information to the gm customer service team, they told me to ask for a courtesy credit from the dealership as I was out of warranty on bumper to bumper. There were no prior issues with this part on my truck that I was aware of leading up to this event. It additionally caused damage to my windshield and roof.
Top grill assembly blew off in high winds scratching the windshield and cracking part of it.
The plastic piece above the front grill detached and flew off the truck. I’m not sure the name of the part.
Electronic truck tail gate opened while driving after washing vehicle. The tailgate button on the fob or inside the cabin were not pressed.
Front chrome hood deflector detached while driving down the interstate. Had a recall on the deflector, recall was performed and the chrome deflector still detached. Tried to get gm to repair and they declined my recall claim. Gm stated my 3 year bumper to bumper warranty had expired and they did not have to fix it. This is an extremely hazardous condition and should be covered.
The grille deflector flew off while driving. The same exact problem the 2022 sierra had as described in n242490120.
The front upper grille broke off and detached at highway speeds. The grille impacted the hood, causing a scratch and dent and became a road hazard and has the potential to cause an accident. This is the same failure reported in NHTSA campaign number: 25v-060 that only covers 2022 model years. Research online indicates failures in 2022, 2023 and 2024 vehicles. GMC to date will not warranty or recall this gross safety violation.

Bad paint used by manufacturers that causes frames to rust out.
While driving 65mph in my 2024 GMC sierra denali ultimate on interstate 270 in hilliard, ohio my chrome grill deflector just flew off and hit my windshield. It then went over my truck and almost caused a major accident with the cars and semi-trucks behind me. I was lucky to maintain control of my own vehicle! it appears to me that the mounting fractured and it looks like manufacturing defect. Looks like the same issues recalled in 2022 year models. How many have to die before gm fixes this issue? they now want $1,500 for a new grill on my 2024 truck.
Front upper grille trim violently ripped off while driving down the highway. Hit windshield and flew up and over the car into traffic on the highway.
I was driving down the road and my top grille molding flew off.
The motor stoped working 6. 2. Left me stranded in the middle of the road. No warning, the engine just gave up and stopped working. As well as the grill flying away and breaking my windshield, this happened last year in February while driving 75 mph.
The top part of the front grille fell off while driving.
While driving under normal conditions, a front grille trim component detached from my vehicle without any impact or external cause. The piece became airborne and struck my windshield, creating an immediate safety hazard and risk of loss of control. There was no prior damage or warning. This represents a failure of a vehicle component under normal operation and indicates a defect in materials, design, or installation. Exterior parts should not detach and become projectiles at roadway speeds. The manufacturer has been notified but has declined responsibility. Given the safety risk, this may not be an isolated issue.
The front upper grille molding/deflector located above the front grille and directly below the hood on my 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 has become loose and is separating from the vehicle. The left side attachment points appear to have failed, allowing the plastic component to visibly move and lift while driving at highway speeds. The condition worsens with airflow, and the part vibrates and flexes significantly while traveling on the freeway. This creates a safety concern because the component appears at risk of detaching completely from the vehicle and becoming roadway debris, potentially striking other vehicles or causing drivers to take evasive action. No warning lights or dashboard messages were present prior to discovering the issue. The problem was first noticed after observing movement of the grille trim while driving at normal highway speeds. The vehicle has not been involved in any collision or modification that would cause this condition. A GMC dealer inspected the concern and confirmed the vehicle is not currently included in an active recall despite an existing GMC recall addressing grille deflector detachment on similar 2022 Sierra 1500 vehicles. The defective component is currently still installed on the vehicle and available for inspection upon request. Due to the risk of detachment while driving, vehicle operation at highway speeds now presents a potential hazard to surrounding traffic.
Front grill deflector detached from vehicle when traveling on highway. This is a recall repair for the same issue. There were no warning lamps.
While driving on interstate 10 at 70 mph the upper section of the front grille broke off. After the part broke off it contacted my windshield before continuing to fly off behind him. Not only putting me in danger but also anyone traveling behind me. From online research the is a recall for this truck except the 2022 models after the same thing happening.
Upper grille deflector flew off vehicle while operating. No previous damage, just flew off. There is the same issue with my make and model that GMC issued a recall for but it is not appearing for my VIN.
While driving on the interstate the top part of the grill flew off into following traffic.
Front grill cap blew off while driving.
I was driving on the highway (using cruise control) when the front bumper grill started vibrating (so I tried to slow down) but it kept flapping and flew off before I was able to pull over. I then pulled over on the shoulder and had to walk back to retrieve it. My safety was put at risk because it could have hit my windshield and caused me to have an accident, or, it could have hit someone or another vehicle. I have it and it is available for inspection. It has not been inspected by anyone yet. There were no warning signals prior to the failure.
I was driving on the interstate when the hood deflector blew off suddenly and unexpectedly damaging my hood and hitting the windshield. This vehicle was recalled for this part defect last year and the fix was applied by the dealer. It appears that some sort of adhesive was applied to the retainers but they still ultimately failed. This was a very dangerous situation that could have ultimately caused an accident. I am reporting this so that the approved repair can be reviewed. This part should have been replaced, not simply placing adhesive on the defective part. The past safety recall # was n242490120.
I was driving down the road the front piece of the grill flew off the truck and hit my windshield, then flew into oncoming traffic.
Upper part to the front grille detached from bumper while driving, causing loud impact on windshield (cracking it) and scratching hood.
I was driving on the interstate and the upper grill broke off of the truck and hit my windshield.
Setting in a parking lot and the tailgate fell open and hit another car. The tailgate was closed and has fell open 3 more times while the vehicle is in park and one time it was powered off.
Upper grill trim panel broke off while on highway and went flying over the truck while at highway speeds. Same issue as existing recall for the 2022 model.
The lights on the dashboard is indicating that the hood is unlocked and the security system is being tampered with. Hood is closed and it disengage auto start and the alarm goes off every 10 minutes.

While driving down the highway the top part of the front of the grill flew off bounced over top of my vehicle and landed on the ground in the highway where the car behind me then ran it over and it blew into the median. I notified my local GMC dealer who said there is no active recall. Filed a complaint with GMC as this is a known issue and has already been recalled on the 2022 model. They reviewed and denied my claim at this time. It is a known manufacturer issue and creates a highway hazard if they continue to blow off and possibly hit or injure athers.
The other night, I was backing into a parking spot at the market. As I slowed I noticed the brake pedal was getting harder to depress and it felt as though I was going to back into the car behind me. It took more effort to stop the truck.
