While driving on interstate 10 at 70 mph the upper section of the front grille broke off. After the part broke off it contacted my windshield before continuing to fly off behind him. Not only putting me in danger but also anyone traveling behind me. From online research the is a recall for this truck except the 2022 models after the same thing happening.

I was driving on the highway (using cruise control) when the front bumper grill started vibrating (so I tried to slow down) but it kept flapping and flew off before I was able to pull over. I then pulled over on the shoulder and had to walk back to retrieve it. My safety was put at risk because it could have hit my windshield and caused me to have an accident, or, it could have hit someone or another vehicle. I have it and it is available for inspection. It has not been inspected by anyone yet. There were no warning signals prior to the failure.
I was driving on the interstate when the hood deflector blew off suddenly and unexpectedly damaging my hood and hitting the windshield. This vehicle was recalled for this part defect last year and the fix was applied by the dealer. It appears that some sort of adhesive was applied to the retainers but they still ultimately failed. This was a very dangerous situation that could have ultimately caused an accident. I am reporting this so that the approved repair can be reviewed. This part should have been replaced, not simply placing adhesive on the defective part. The past safety recall # was n242490120.
I was driving down the road the front piece of the grill flew off the truck and hit my windshield, then flew into oncoming traffic.
Upper part to the front grille detached from bumper while driving, causing loud impact on windshield (cracking it) and scratching hood.
I was driving on the interstate and the upper grill broke off of the truck and hit my windshield.
Setting in a parking lot and the tailgate fell open and hit another car. The tailgate was closed and has fell open 3 more times while the vehicle is in park and one time it was powered off.
Upper grill trim panel broke off while on highway and went flying over the truck while at highway speeds. Same issue as existing recall for the 2022 model.
The lights on the dashboard is indicating that the hood is unlocked and the security system is being tampered with. Hood is closed and it disengage auto start and the alarm goes off every 10 minutes.

While driving down the highway the top part of the front of the grill flew off bounced over top of my vehicle and landed on the ground in the highway where the car behind me then ran it over and it blew into the median. I notified my local GMC dealer who said there is no active recall. Filed a complaint with GMC as this is a known issue and has already been recalled on the 2022 model. They reviewed and denied my claim at this time. It is a known manufacturer issue and creates a highway hazard if they continue to blow off and possibly hit or injure athers.
The other night, I was backing into a parking spot at the market. As I slowed I noticed the brake pedal was getting harder to depress and it felt as though I was going to back into the car behind me. It took more effort to stop the truck.

The grille deflector suddenly detached from the truck and flew off into traffic. It narrowly missed the vehicle behind me and could have caused a serious accident or injury. There was no prior warning or impact that would explain the failure.
I was driving down the highway at 65-70mph and the top part of the grill flew off, causing scratches to the wind shield. There’s has been a recall on this for 2022 GMC 1500 sierra’s but I am driving a 2024 and the issue is still the same.
Grille deflector was torn off the vehicle while driving at highway speeds.
Upper grill molding trim/bezel flew off truck. Part was recovered and clips look to have broken off. Plastic clips look to be insufficient and will break over time. Active recall for 2022 model vehicles only , needs to be expanded to 2023 or possibly further out.
I was driving down the interstate going 64mph and my grill deflector flew off. Then a piece of the bracket flew up and landed on the hood about 7-10 miles afterwards.
Took truck in to have brake light checked to prepare for a trip. Got a call the next day from auto service center that the frame off the truck is completely rusted and that it was unable to be lifted up for service. They stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive and that any hard bump, speed bump or over correction could cause the frame to fall out.

Molding between top of grill and hood came off while traveling on highway and struck windshield and broke it.
The top of front grille broke off at 70 mph, struck the windshield then the fixed antenna on top of the truck then into traffic behind me all doing 70+ mph across a one mile long 2 lane bridge with no place to avoid the debris. The failed part endangered myself, my family and anyone traveling behind us. No one has seen the remnants of the event/ issue but the part was approximately 2ft long and 8 inches wide. The truck has a top piece that sits between the hood and the top of the grille. The part is gone but one can see the broken clips and flimsy plastic. The previous year model of the truck had a recall opened earlier this year for the same problem but not my truck. Multiple forums online report the same event as mine occurring on multiple model years.
Just purchased 2022 GMC sierra elevation with 25,000 miles on it. The undercarriage is completely rusted and makes a terrible ticking noise. I have read that there is recalls and issues with this on a lot of of the trucks.
The upper part of the grill detached on my 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 while going 65mph on the higway. The part is about 4 inches wide by 6 ft long. People behind me in traffic were swerving and dodging to avoid hitting it. Gm knows about this problem (see safety recall #n242490120), but the scope of the affected vehicles is incorrect, so my truck is not included. There were no signs that the part was going to fail before hand.
--radio power button inoperative --radio channel change buttons, to left of steering wheel inoperative (everyday) --radio volume inoperative -just stops working (sometimes) --radio “home” button, left of radio power button inoperative --driver door mirror wobbles when above 50 mph (very distracting when driving) --driver door hard to close and out of alignment --dealership is selling the vehicles knowing some of the issues are present, but not advising the buyer. My safety is/was at risk due to having to move my hands off the steering wheel to touch the radio display to make any changes while driving. A certified gm service dept confirmed all my issues and could not repair. They quoted a pit 6408. However, this particular pit does not address my issues/concerns.

Part of the grille of my 2023 GMC sierra at4x flew off driving 75 miles per hour on the highway, I believe it has to do with the fasteners of the upper grille bezel.
After completion of a recall fix by the dealer for the grill while driving the front grill deflector detached striking the front hood and top of the cab before flying behind my vehicle barely missing a following vehicle and settling alongside the road. I pulled over, inspected the front of my vehicle to assure it was safely drivable. Once I removed loose pieces I returned and retrieved the top grill from the roadside then drove directly to the dealer who completed the recall fix. They have ordered a full grill for replacement. The recall fix/repair failed within day of completion. Gm program # n242490120 status complete NHTSA 25v060 date issued: 2025-02-06 description general motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety may exist in certain 2022 model year GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with chrome front grille deflectors. Recall number n242490120 was performed in April 2025 rivard Buick GMC, tampa, florida, phone # 813-620-6500 the grille was inspected and repaired with adhesive to reinforce the plastic tabs to the grille so it would not detach and cause a safety issue when driving. This recall was performed before we purchased the vehicle and we are located in oklahoma city, ok. The vehicle has been listed for sale at our car dealership in oklahoma city and had to have multiple warranty repairs at GMC/chevy over the summer. We sold the vehicle on 8/9/2025 to a customer: ruben ivich and he was driving the vehicle and the grille detached and fell off the vehicle while driving. The grille hit his hood and windshield and caused damage. He could have had an accident when the grille detached from the front of the vehicle. We dropped the vehicle off at bob howard GMC on 8/26/25 and they said since the recall has been performed that it is not covered and nothing they can do about fixing it under recall or warranty. We reached out to GMC customer service 1800 # and they told us the same thing, and we would have to repair it out of pocket. I find this extremely unprofessional and avoiding taking care of the issue that should have been taken care of the first time. The part is faulty and part of the recall to be repaired or replaced properly so this hazardous part does not cause a problem while driving and that is exactly what happened even after having the recall taken care of at GMC. We at la raza motors inc. Have inspected the vehicle/grille and upon discovering the previous recall/repair that was performed at rivard Buick GMC in tampa, florida, the grille was not properly repaired and not up to standard. This part should have been replaced instead of repaired. Ruben retrieved the broken/detached grille after it detached to see what had happened and we have pictures. No police report was made at the time of the incident. No lights or warnings were on at the time of the incident.
The front upper grille deflector/hood bulge flew off randomly while driving. No signs of it previously detaching or anything. Just came off.
GMC Sierra 1500 front upper top grille molding trim randomly flew off at highway speed. Hit the windshield and the vehicle behind me. No warning.
March 28, 2025: a recall (NHTSA recall no. : 25v-060) service for the front upper grille deflector was performed. August 7, 2025: the front upper grille deflector flew off my truck while I was driving on the interstate, despite the recent recall service. The failure of a recall repair is particularly alarming and a serious safety hazard.
While driving down the highway at moderate speed (60mph), the deflector, top of the grill broke off the truck, hit the windshield and the top of the truck (causing paint damage) and flew into traffic behind us. The incident put my family's safety and other drivers safety, at risk. I took the truck to a dealership immediately afterwards and they indicated the 2023 version is not under warranty, although a recall exists for previous years for this exact issue. There were no warning lights or messages received prior to the incident.
2024 GMC Sierra 1500. While driving approximately 75 mph, the front chrome grille deflector came loose from the passenger side of the vehicle and started flapping. Before I could safely pull over it became detached and flew over the hood of the vehicle striking the front windshield before nearly hitting another moving vehicle behind me. This caused damage to the hood, the other driver did not stop. While the 2024 model vehicle is not listed in NHTSA campaign number: 25v060000 (structure) recalled on the 2022 model, gm lists the same part number for the 2022-2024 models, therefore the recall should include these years as well. The failure mileage was 27,500.
Multiple times today my tailgate dropped randomly without my knowledge. With the tailgate randomly dropping, and no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms, it puts others at risk due to the potential for the contents of the truck bed to fall out into traffic causing damage or bodily injury to others on the road. During my research on what could cause this to occur, I was made aware of a recall of this same make, model, and year vehicle. The description of the reason for the recall was exactly what I experienced with my vehicle. I immediately attempted to confirm that my vehicle was listed on the recall by entering by VIN online. I discovered that there was not an active recall on my specific vehicle, so I contacted the nearest GMC dealership. After speaking with the service tech, he confirmed that my symptoms was exactly what the dealership had addressed with other vehicles that were on the recall list. He confirmed that my VIN was not included, yet the recall did have the same make, model, and year. I will be making an appointment at my dealership to repair this at my expense since it is not covered on the recall.
