My vehicle shut down and I had the abs light stability control light and the airbag light as well as more that came on. The truck was picked up from the dealer after they said it was a wiring issue and was. It covered under warranty. This has happend 4 times already and been at the dealer 3 times I had it happen on the highway. Most of the time it restarts but now it don't.

Parked my truck in the driveway tonight and shut it off. The mirrors went crazy, and the radio would not shut off. After a few minutes I started the truck and shut it back off. The radio went off. Since owning the truck, which is not very long, I have had the power seats readjust themselves, by them selves, and it felt like it was crushing me. I am a big man and I prefer that no one adjust my seats, as I have them just right for me. This truck and its wiring/electrical system are problematic. So sorry I bought it now.

Was driving home from work. Smelled something hot, then smoke came out vents, within less than a minute flames were coming out from under passenger's side dash. Had to pull over and put out fire with fire extinguisher. If there had been a passenger like my children they would have been severely burned or killed. I am a gm technician and the fuse for the hvac did not blow and taking away power did not stop the issue. I know that there are issues with the resistor wiring. My vehicle systems all worked fine before the incident and gave no indications of failing. This incident happened fast enough that the vehicle would have been totally in flames if a fire extinguisher was not right handy. You are aware of this issue why is nothing being done about it. Gm is very lucky that I did not have a passenger tonight.

We purchased 24 2011 GMC 2500 trucks with omaha utility bodies. About 1 month after putting the units in service we had a failure of the module that operates the rear brake/tail/turn lights. It had no left turn light, and the right turn operated with the turn switch set to left or right. We removed the module (installed by palfleet for the omaha bodies) from another vehicl and installed it on the one with the problem. That corrected that unit. Since that time we have had 6 more units that have failed in a similar manner, but varied lights to include right /left turn and brake lights. With any of these light inoperative, the vehicles are not in compliance with fmvss 108, or any operational standard. Now palfleet wants to sell us new lights to cure the problem. Text of their email follows:
bill,
in understanding from ken pitts in service and john pannell in our materials department that some of the multiple service body units we installed a few months back have had electrical issues with the rear taillights specifically, we were hoping to provide you with information. In the early stages of the fsa (florida sherriff’s association for the state of florida) bid process for these units that dates back to 2010, we worked up the bid price based on the standard light kit package. Per my understanding for Ford and Dodge trucks the standard (incandescent) type bulb/light works properly. In the case of gm (general motors) trucks, due to a different oem wiring harness and certain electrical amp-draw criteria, the standard/incandescent bulb can sometimes overheat causing failure. The recommended correction is to upgrade the two red turn/stop lights to led which, again per my understanding, withstand the heat buildup caused by the gm harness. We will be glad to send you the replacement red lights if you would like to pursue and any of the circuit boards (if needed) at our cost plus ups shipping. The cost would be as shown:
red stop/turn light - $18. 00
circuit board - $49. 00.

2006 GMC sierra hd 2500 - 4x4 crew cab slt - while parked in our driveway and with keys out of the ignition, the air bag deployed. We called the dealership ferguson pontiac GMC and we were told that it was not possible and out of warranty. We had our mechanic tow it in. They hooked up the computer to see if a sensor had tripped the air bag and the rug started to smoke. They removed the melted mat to the rug and found the wiring harness was melted away. Bottom side of the rug was burnt. We went to GMC in person with pictures and asked how this could happened and were told "it can happen at anytime with sand and moisture around the wiring harness". We were told this could have also happened while driving the vehicle. We want this truck fixed and assured that it will not happen again. This could have caused a forest fire, a horrible accident, and or death. No one seems to care. We have several GMC vehicles and are concerned if the other ones will do the same. We are not satisfied with their complete disregard for our safety and did not want to even look at it. We have pictures if you would like us to email them to you. This is out of the normal realm of "warranty" and believe it is gm's responibility to fix this and make sure it doesn't happen again. Also the public needs to know that this "can happen at anytime". This was quoted from [xxx]the service manager at ferguson ponitac GMC. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Replaced every module in the heater system in my 05 GMC sierra several times, and so has just about everyone else I know who owns one. Now my wiring harness burned without blowing any fuses. Gm should have a recall on this, and find the problems, and fix them, before everyone who owns one goes broke repairing them.

After returning from a day of shopping, I parked my truck at the back, like always. I had been noticing oil spots for the last few days but chalked it up to age and mileage of the truck. After about two hours I saw smoke from the back area where I parked. I ran outside to catch to my surprise! my truck was on fire, I as quickly as possible, grabbed the garden hose and put out the fire! I realized as I looked, that the fire had started at the area under the hood where the fuses, and wiring were located. As I slowly rebuilt my truck, I realized that the fire was not the only problem that I had! the fact of the matter was that if the fire had not shut my truck down, there were a whole array of other problems that I would of had to repair.
Letter on behalf of constituent requesting assistance in difficulties dealing with gm regarding a manufacturer's defect in the electrical circuits in his 2004 GMC k2500 pickup truck. The consumer stated the vehicle stalled for no reason while driving 70 mph on the highway. He lost all electrical circuits, power steering and brakes. After 45 minutes, the vehicle restarted. The next day, the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, where the mechanic found loose pins on the wiring harness connectors at c107 and c108. The mechanic stated he didn't believe that was the cause of the vehicle stalling, but they were loose. Since, the first failure, there have been 10 more failures. The consumer took the vehicle to another dealer where it has been since July 2, 2009 without a specific cause being found.
