I got into my car to head to the store today. Upon closing drivers door I heard a muffled sounding pop. As I looked around I noticed back windshield looked “weird”. Got out and walked around the back to see it completely shattered. It just exploded and every inch has a crack or chip, even all asking the edges of the glass. I lifted the tail gate to see if a rock was thrown by chance and a chunk fell into the car. No rock was found. It simply shattered. The temp today was low 60’s on may 3rd, 2026 here in ohio.

During heavy rainfall in the mountains at dawn, my windshield wipers suddenly have stopped working. We can manually move the wipers with ease and can hear the motor engaging but both front wipers suddenly stopped. We were 1200 miles from home on what was supposed to be a vacation. Carvana reports 2 recalls for my reports but the dealerships have no recalls for my year of vehicle.

Wiper blades transmission plastic parts keep popping or breaking this is the third time this has happened at a cost of $350. Why would you use plastic parts for this knowing that it will break easily? who can afford to keep replacing this? 12.

The windshield has an optical distortion, characterized by "waviness" and "rippling. " this condition is not merely a cosmetic imperfection; it is a safety hazard that causes visual impairment, and dizziness while driving. This defect compromises my ability to perceive distances and hazards accurately, especially when looking through the passenger side while making turns or looking for hazards. Current status of the issue as reported online documented reports indicate that GMC dealers are aware of these "warped windshields" and that the issue appears to be a systemic quality control failure in the 2026 model year. • safety risk: this distortion constitutes a safety-related defect as defined by the national highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA), as it interferes with the driver's primary field of vision. •failure of prior remedies: I am aware that many owners have undergone multiple replacements only to have the same defect reoccur, suggesting that current replacement stock may also be compromised.
The windshield wipers quit working while driving during a down pour; some piece to the motor broke. This can cause severe injuries and even death due to the fact that it caused me to not be able to see where I was going and what was around me and could have driven off a high ramp. It hasn’t been inspected by anyone yet. There were no signs, warnings, or messages stating a failure may occur. This issue is available for review if requested until I get the car in for repairs. Will request to keep the part that is repaired incase it’s needed for review after the fact.
I just purchased a brand new 2025 Terrain. The entire windshield is defective. The glass is distorted and causing visual impairment. It is very unsafe. I have contacted the dealership multiple times and have not yet received a response.

The windshield wipers became inoperable due to a ball joint failure within the wipers. The parts are available for inspection. The safety of myself and others were put at risk as it was raining heavily after sundown and I could no longer see through my windshield due to the rain not being cleared off by windshield wipers. The visibility issue could have caused an accident, especially if the car in front of me had slammed on breaks. The problem has not been addressed by a dealer but I will be doing that in the following weeks. No one has inspected the component. I did not get any warning lamps or messages. The wipers just immediately stopped.
I was driving on an interstate highway. I entered a construction zone restricted to two lanes. (one each way). It began to rain very hard, after a short time of starting the front windshield wipers; both stopped. There was a total failure of both wipers with out any warning and a total loss of vision due to a rain covered windshield. Due to the restricted traffic lanes in the interstate construction zone there was no shoulder on either side to pull off onto and no way to exit the interstate traffic flow for several miles. I was able to avoid a crash and exit the interstate after several miles. With a different driver, slightly different circumstances or a little less luck it would have resulted in loss of life!!!! the cause was failure of the wiper arm linkage more specifically the ball broke off of the wiper motor arm. This appears to be the same failure that caused a recall to be issued for previous model years of the GMC terain. The parts are available for inspection.
Windshield wipers stopped working during a downpour. Lucky I was able to make it home safely but took time. Checked fuses, nothing wrong there. Can hear something running so assume motor is ok, but linkage may have broken. Will have to take to mechanic.
The front windshield wipers suddenly stopped working while I was driving on the freeway in moderate rainfall on [xxx]. I wasn't able to see through the windshield. I will call GMC in roseville mn on Monday, June 9, 2025 to request a service date. I waited until the rain was lighter, so I could drive from willow river rest area to moose lake, 19 miles. It was inspected at the repair shop, federated CO-ops moose lake 017, 100 arrowhead ln, moose lake, mn 55767. (218) 485-4409. He didn't have the part to make the repair on June 6, 2025. His note: removed engine plastic trim and wiper transmission. Socket on wiper transmission popped off. Reinstalled. Recommend new wiper transmission. There were no prior indications or issues with the wipers not functioning properly. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
While driving in a heavy rain in a constuction zone, wiper quit working. Never notified vehicle had a wiper linkage failure issue. Paid for repairs out of pocket and gm won't compensate because a gm dealer didn't perform repair. See service bulletin n192266180-01, thank you!.

The contact owns a 2014 GMC Terrain. The contact stated while driving 15 mph in a snowstorm, the windshield wipers became inoperable. The contact was able to drive to the residence. The contact had received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 22v165000 (visibility). The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair; however, the dealer informed the contact that the recall repair could not be performed due to a salvage title. The manufacturer was contacted and advised the contact that the repair could be covered because the salvage title was not related to the windshield wipers; however, the manufacturer called the contact and informed the contact that the repair could no longer be covered due to the salvage title. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was approximately 149,680.
The headliner fabric detached somehow from the panoramic track causing the fabric to hang down obstructing the rear and back window view causing a safety hazard. The automatic forward collision alert will come on for no reason since this has happened. The problem has not been reported to insurance or the manufacturer yet but gm is my next call. This is a safety hazard due to the obstruction of visibility to safely make turns or change lanes. This happened August 5th while driving with the windows up. It just dropped down still attached to the front of the track and the rear.

I was driving my SUV while it was raining heavily and my driver side wipers just stop working out of no where the passenger side still operates. I have not been to see if a dealer can fix it because I was unaware it was under recall so now I’m trying to find someone to fix it while under the recall.
The contact owns a 2012 GMC Terrain. The contact stated that while attempting to back out of a parking space, upon putting the vehicle in reverse the rearview camera display on the center console shut off, the contact stated that the display went blank, and that due to the lack of visibility she bumped into another vehicle that was also reversing. The contact stated that it was a minor impact and that there was no cosmetic damage to either vehicle therefore no police report was filed, and no injuries were reported. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed and the contact was advised that the center console display was faulty and would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000.

When driving in a rainstorm, there was a loud pop, and the driver side windshield wiper stopped moving. After I finally got home I checked the pivot point of the wiper arm and the nut was still tight. I ordered a new wiper motor module, and replaced it. On the old module I discovered one of the arms had disconnected at a pivot point. I understand now that gm has an extended warranty for the part so I will be pursuing reimbursement.

My wife was driving on the highway to work when it was raining. Both of the wipers stopped working all of a sudden causing her to not be able to see out of the windshield. When she got home that night I could see that the linkage arm had came off the ball joint.
Temperature actuator door is broken, this causes my windshield to fog up therefore I can't see to drive.

I have a 2016 GMC Terrain, garage kept and seldom driven, with only 53,260 miles on it. Last night while leaving the movie theatre in the rain my wipers stopped working while in motion. I had to drive home in the rain unable to see!!! looked on NHTSA. Gov site and saw where recalls were issued for 2015’s but not 2016’s, although I’m reading numerous complaints for the same occurring on my model SUV. Can GMC provide some insight into this?.
The windshield wiper blades stopped working while driving at night in the rain. This was a dangerous situation as I had a hard time seeing where I was driving.
I was driving while it was raining. The wipers stopped working. The driverside wiper jumped partially off the windshield. I had my mechanic inspect it. The fuses, relay, and wiper motor are operational. The bushing on the wiper transmission failed. I found the following recall. Special coverage adjustment n192266181 wiper transmission arm linkage failure – USA only release date: July 2022. However, my VIN does not have this as an applicable recall.
Wiper motor went out on me no warning.
While driving in the rain, my windshield wipers stopped working. No lights on, nothing showing in my GMC app. I've noticed many others with this same issue, and am aware of the recall on the 2014-2015 models. GMC should extend the recall to cover the 2016 as well since this is a known issue.
I was driving while it was raining. My windshield wipers were on and functioning without issue. I heard a noise and my windshield wipers had stopped moving and now they do not work. I called several places to schedule an appt for my car/wipers to be assessed and repaired. I was told by 3 different shops that a recall had been issued for the year adjacent to my car and my issue sounded like the recall issue.
Was coming back from a hospital and it started to rain and had the wipers on and all of a sudden they stopped working! when I got home I tried to see if it was a fuse and it wasn’t! called my mechanic who looked at it today and I needed a whole new wiper mtr/ w/ linkage! that was a road hazard and never should have happened on my GMC cost me $430 to repair and I feel like GMC should reimburse me!.
Windshield wipers quit working. I can hear something, but blades don't move. I see the 2014-15 have a recall.
A severe rain down pour started, I turned on my front windshield wipers, and they swiped about twice, than stopped completely, in a vertical position. I could not see, and had to try to get to the side of the road, to pull over to safety. This was extremely dangerous, and from what I am reading, happens frequently to GMC Terrains. Apparently, there was a recall for 2013-2015, seems the 2016 needs added!! no warning lights are on in the car. No failure report via my GMC app.
Left wiper stopped working.
Ball joint for wiper assembly just "pops off" while in use causing wipers to stop working. I have taken vehicle apart, fixed the issue ( reconnecting the ball joint) and issue happens again. I understand the vehicle is from 2012, but uses same part 2010-2017, which is currently a recall on 2013-2015 models. First occurrence of this issue was July 02, 2019. I brought to GMC dealer, they said they were out of the part. Since then I've not had the issue until today March 14, 2023 where I almost hit another car, due to it popping off and stopped working while in motion.
I was driving in the dark at 5 am with my 2 year old son in the down pour rain and my wipers stopped working but the motor was still running.
Just purchased this vehicle has about 64500 miles on it. When accelerating between 40-55 (hard acceleration) my vehicle wobbles really bad, seems like a tire issue. Have had the front end looked at, and tires all balanced and inspected. Noting out of the ordinary. Then all of a sudden my rear view back up camera works, but my back up assist symbols are not showing/working. I checked the settings and they are turned on. To top off the cake, when the weather is cold outside my windshield wiper fluid will not spray from the front windshield or rear, then when it warms up or is parked in a garage it works again. I have made sure the correct wiper fluid is added as well so it does not freeze. But apparently it is getting stuck somewhere. . . . . .

The defroster/ radio control/ heating area stopped working. Upon visiting a mechanic was told they never seen this or heard of this happening before and quoted me over $1,000. 00 dollars to fix stating that due to federal law they have to give an estimate but this problem not being in their system they came up with an estimate based on parts and labor. Upon searching online I found a recall for this issue dating back to 2009 recall number was 09v489000 but was never informed about this and while looking up my car it’s not listed but being a safety issue should still be current which it is not.
My defrost system doesn't work. As I drive down the road my windshield fogs up andni can't get it to un fog at all or fast enough. Almost caused me to have an accident before christmas.
