41 Wiper problem of the 2011 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 08/05/2022

My windshield wipers just suddenly stopped working during a rain storm. I managed to get home safely and after a quick search I was able to confirm this is a known problem with GMC Terrain's. It is talked about in special coverage n192266180. However this happened during a rain storm with limited visibility. So I am filing this complaint because GMC needs to issue a full blown recall and not a fix for after the windshield wiper system module breaks. Failed wipers during a storm could get people killed. I was lucky but others may not be. I took video of the wipers not working during the storm if you wish for me to send it to you.

45 Wiper problem of the 2014 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 07/06/2022

The windshield wipers suddenly stopped working when it was raining really hard last week. This caused me to almost get into a car accident because I could not see the road with all the rain. I had to stop on the side of the road until the rain stopped, which took a while. This occurred on a road where there were not many street lights, which made it even worse to see ahead. I took the vehicle to the nearest GMC dealership for diagnostics and they were not able to provide the service to repair/replace the wipers because of the recall not being complete. I currently can't drive the car when it is raining which is difficult since this is my only mode of transportation for work.

46 Wiper problem of the 2012 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 06/08/2022

Very serious failure . . . Traveling at night, in a rainstorm, doing 70mph on a highway and the wiper regulator connecting the wiper arms to the wiper motor fails . . . No warning what so ever . . . No intermittent operation or noises, nothing . . . Looking into this problem I see that gm has issued a safety recall for 2014 and up versions of this vehicle but not my specific model year . . . What are the chances that the hardware used in my particular vehicle model year are any different than those listed in (22v-165) this safety recall.

The contact stated while driving 50-55 mph in a rainstorm, the windshield wipers stopped working and remained stuck in the middle of the windshield. 50 Wiper problem of the 2015 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 05/24/2022

My wipers on my 2015 GMC Terrain failed when I was driving, during a rain storm. I called the GMC customer service number about this recall before I had my car inspected. After giving customer service a call, I felt like no resolution was done. Yes, I believe not having windshield wipers does put others on the road at risk, when it is needed during a rainfall. I went to an independent service to have my car diagnosed, and they confirmed that my wipers did not work and it needed replaced. There was no warnings lights on my dashboard before my wipers stopped.

51 Wiper problem of the 2016 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 05/21/2022

2016 GMC Terrain front windshield wipers failed completely during a major rainstorm downpour event. Visibility during 05/21/2022 drive on interstate 94 was immediately compromised and my son had to pull over to avoid potential collision. Diagnosis indicates wiper motor is still operational, both front wipers are still coupled/ganged-together and move in unison, but can now be moved freely by hand, indicating wipers are DE-coupled from motor. This is the same failure mode that prompted nhsta to push for a gm recall of 2013, and then later 2014 & 2015 GMC Terrain vehicles. There is a growing list of 2016 GMC Terrain owners reporting this same failure mode online. Nhtsa & gm should take a serious look at this before someone is seriously injured.

52 Wiper problem of the 2015 GMC Terrain

The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was also notified of the issue and provided the same information as the dealer. The manufacturer informed the contact that the vehicle was safe to drive despite the failure. The contact repaired the vehicle himself. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

57 Wiper problem of the 2013 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 05/07/2022

My 2013 engine blew out, I did an oil change around February and a month later took my vehicle to aamco and they found a gallon of coolant in the engine. None of the warning lights came on prior to this happening at all whatsoever. The oil life was still at 32% with no oil in my engine. All 3 of my windshield wipers as well rotted within the year that I purchased the vehicle. Now I do not have a working vehicle at all whatsoever due to the engine and car not wanting to start. When I put the code reader in when it first happened it told me it was the camshaft sensor so I changed both sensors and all the spark plugs and even bought the crankshaft sensor and it was none of the above until later I found out it was the engine that blew. I have spent so much money on this vehicle it’s ridiculous.

58 Wiper problem of the 2015 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 05/07/2022

The windshield wipers failed while driving the vehicle on the highway in the rain. The wipers stopped without warning and had no previous issues. I could not see out the windshield. Fortunately, I was able to get off the highway. If there was heavier traffic, it could have caused a serious accident. I took the vehicle to an independent repair shop since it was the weekend and I was about 30 miles from home. They replaced the wiper motor and wiper transmission arm. They showed me how the parts failed. I have a receipt for the work. GMC will not reimburse me for the repair since they have not issued a fix for this issue. It has been 2 years and 5 months since GMC issued the special coverage adjustment. Considering the seriousness of the defect and the potential for loss of life, it is unconscionable that GMC does not have a fix for this.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue but no additional assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 99,536. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

60 Wiper problem of the 2014 GMC Terrain

Headlights- melted plug causing fire damage on both headlights, replaced with new headlights and bulbs as well as a new wire harness plug. Was driving smelt smoke/wires burning. 61 Wiper problem of the 2015 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 03/24/2022

The windshield wipers stopped working on 3/24/2022. There is a recall on the windshield wipers of this vehicle. I called sunrise GMC wolfchase and gave them the VIN and they confirmed that it was a recall and scheduled an appointment to fix it for the following week 3/29/2022. I brought the vehicle in and was told by the service manager that they would not fix the windshield wipers according to the recall because the car has a new/savage title. However, they had all parts in stock and would be able to fix it for the price of 575. 32. I do not understand this because after reviewing the NHTSA. Gov answers I read that "being salvaged is not reason for a manufacturer to deny a recall. Under the law, they must replace that defective part as long as the car is drivable. " please advise as soon as possible on what steps to take next. As of now, this is our only vehicle and it is needed for transportation to and from work. Thankyou.

62 Wiper problem of the 2016 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 03/23/2022

Upon traveling west on m50 in monroe county the vehicles windshield wipers stopped working during a heavy storm. My visibility was gone. I had to veer off onto the shoulder of the road. I was unable to see out of my windshield during the windshield wiper failure. I got out of the vehicle and smoke was coming near the windshield wiper arms at the cowl vents. My windshield wipers were completely off as if the wiper transmission arm had broke. The windshield wiper motor was dead and the ball joint for the transmission had fallen off. This is a major safety concern. High risk of a head on collision and/or accident involving a pedestrian, structure and environment off road.

63 Wiper problem of the 2011 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 03/17/2022

Wipers were intermittently working then completely died. Took for replacement and 3 months after replacement motor dies again. Take it back to the mechanic which said it would be a dealership issue. I go to the dealership which they do have n192266180 special coverage adjustment wiper transmission arm linkage failure which they said they would have replaced my wiper motor. My wipers no longer work and I am looking for a replacement by the dealership due to a safety issue with the wiper transmission.
