Brake Electric Antilock problems of the 1996 GMC Yukon

Nine problems related to brake electric antilock have been reported for the 1996 GMC Yukon. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2001

While trying to come to a stop from 55 mph consumer had applied brakes. Slowed down to 30-35 mph and pedal went to floor. No braking action and vehicle rear ended vehicle in front. $ 5100 damage. Seat belt did not lock and the driver bruised his chest. The air bags failed to deploy as well. The vehicle had been repaireed and the belts, air bag and brake system had been checked.

2 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2000

Anti-lock brake system doesn't work. When applying brakes pedal goes all the way dow to the floor.

3 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 07/22/1999

When slowing down & applying the brakes, vehicle fails to stop resulting in extended stopping distance. Its an intermittent problem. Dealer informed consumer that it needed to be repeated before service is done on it.

4 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 07/15/1999

When brakes were applied in a panic stop pedal became hard, causing extended stopping distance, and resulting in a collision. Driver sustained minor injuries.

5 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 06/19/1997

The truck is equipped with abs, and they have failed by not stopping the vehicle when the brake was applied. The brakes lock up on the driver. It's been in the shop six diffrent times.

6 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 01/01/1997

Braking system malfunctioned, causing extended stopping distance, which almost resulted in a crash. Dealer could not determine the cause of the problem. Common problem. Also oil leak/ rear differential failure/misaligned rear right door, and rear axle shaft seal leaking.

7 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 02/18/1996

Every time abs brakes are applied, vehicle fails to stop, resulting in extended stopping distance. Had been to dealer & was informed by mechanic cause of problem not found. Had abs brake system replaced & the rotors turned.

8 Brake Electric Antilock problem

While traveling in cold weather and applying brakes, suddenly vehicle would stop,resulting in extended stopping distance. Dealer has been contacted. Please provide further informaton.

9 Brake Electric Antilock problem

There is a . 5 to 1. 5 second delay after the brakes are applied brfore anybraking action, resulting in extended stopping distance; replacement of rear brake drums did not correct problem.
