Seven problems related to steering wheel have been reported for the 1997 GMC Yukon. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving between 20-55mph, the steering wheel would have a lot of play in it. The problem is intermittent. The vehicle is uncontrolleable at times. Has not been in contact with dealership, but will call soon.
When driving on freeway at 65mh consumer hit brakes because vehicle in front stopped very fast. Upon applying the brakes, vehicle swerved from side to side and lost control. Steering wheel was shaking very badly. Finally came to a stop. Contacted dealer. This has happened before, but the steering wheel had moved unexpectedly at high speeds.
While trying to pull out of a parking space steering wheel became loose and hard to turn. Please provide further information.
Steering wheel position sensor failed.
When making a left turn steering wheel will slip. Delaer has inspected vehicle.

Intermittently while driving, the steering wheel slightly turns either to the left or right. The dealer has replaced the gear box, the steering sensor and the computer module, but the problem still exists. Manufacturer has been notified.
