1 Tire Sidewall problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2025

Tire size: 265 70 16. While driving on a straight and level highway, the right rear tire sidewall completely shredded. Tire lost all air pressure and separated from the rim. I bought four general grabber tires in July 2021. This is the second tire that the sidewall shredded. The first one shredded on the left rear side in July of 2024. There are a lot of general grabber tires being recalled for over-cured sidewalls but it's strange that there are no recalls on this particular tire.

2 Tire Sidewall problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2003

Catastrophic tire failure - side wall split.

3 Tire Sidewall problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2002

My 2000 GMC Yukon xl came with defective firestone steeltex r4s tires. I was driving down the road and one of the four tires blew out. Upon examination of all four tires on the car by my mechanic he found all four tires had signs of vertical separation of the sidewall and partial tread separation of the left rear tire and bizarre wear. The tire that blew out had come apart on one of these vertical separations. I replaced the tire with the spare and drove it to a firestone dealer. I was informed that there were no problems what-so-ever with these firestone tires and that the alignment of my SUV was the problem. I told him he was crazy and that I would not have an alignment done and I wanted it in writing. The manager gave me it in writing, and had the tires replaced but charged me over $200 and gave me more of the same brand of tire on the vehicle. I took the vehicle to my GMC dealer and had him check to see if an alignment was needed and I was explained in writing that an alignment was not needed.

4 Tire Sidewall problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2002

Sidewall failed. Vehicle was going at 5 mph when failure occurred. Tire was not abused in anyway.

5 Tire Sidewall problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2000

At . 155" depth of tread and even wear, tire developed 30 to 40 deep radial cracks, 1" to 2" long, between the tire outside edge tread blocks and proceeding toward the sidewall. The tire has always been properly inflated to 36 - 50 psi (80 psi cold max) and was imeadiately removed from the vehicle apon discovery of defect. There is no visible external damage to the tire and it never been off the rim. The tire still holds air. (dot number: v611 tiresize: lt245/r16).
