1 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 05/29/2008

The contact owns a 2001 GMC Yukon xl 2500. The crank case position sensor shuts on and off intermittently which caused the engine to stall and it may not restart immediately. The failure is related to NHTSA#07v521000 and gm recall# 06083, engine and engine cooling. The dealer advised the contact that there were no recalls. A different authorized dealer performed a diagnostic test and stated that the crank shaft position sensor needed to be replaced. The dealer also stated that the repair cost was $800 and if the failure affected the transmission additional fees would be included. A local mechanic repaired the transmission at for less than $800. The dealer and the manufacturer advised the contact that there were no related recalls for her VIN. The failure mileage was 67,315 and the current mileage was 80,000.
