2 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2021

My kids and I was on the interstate and all of sudden my Yukon reduce engine power. Dropping to 30 in a speed zone of 70. I was very afraid for our safety and appreciate there concerns for reducing engine power to save the truck, but that's very dangerous. So I paid to replace the throttle body and gas pedal cause that was the codes for the problem. But it's still doing the same thing and I don't have money to keep buying parts. Plus it a gm problem and I really need some help with the fixture. .

4 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2019

Our Yukon on numerous occasions will just display reduced engine power and speed will decrease rapidly. I have pulled off the road and turned vehicle off removed key waited a few minutes then started the truck and it may run fine or may just continue to have reduced engine power. Between the tow bills and shop fees I have spent more than the truck is worth. We have taken to the shop and spent over 5k for them to state the can not find an issue. They say there are no codes. Then it may or may not run normal for a short period and there is no pattern. It has on numerous occasions just completely shut down and therefore loss of power steering and brakes occurs. Making this very dangerous. The last time it happened I was on the highway traveling at 80 mph. The result could have been deadly. I am not sure why GMC has done nothing to fix this issue. I saw several other blogs with the same issue. I am the original and only owner of this truck and it has been well taken care of. I loved my truck up until these issues started, previous to this the truck had a parasitic draw that after 3 years my brother figured out not gm or any other mechanic. That was the temperature control module for those that may be experiencing this issue. Is there a way to encourage gm to do a recall? I now have a useless truck sitting in my driveway. It is not safe to drive.

6 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2016

Stability control disabled comes on with engine power reduced. This happened as I as driving in the highway. Speed drastically reduced form 65 to 10 mph. I could have been killed. Gm is aware of this problem and will not act until there's a fatality because of this issue. This is criminal. Nhtsa has received numerous complaints regarding this issue and has not acted.

7 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2015

When driving whether highway or city streets, the car will without notice slow down to about 15mph. A code of "reduced engine power" is displayed on the dash. The car will not go any faster than 15mph, even with you foot on the gas petal. I have had the car in the shop more times than I can count. They keep replacing different parts thinking that it would fix the problem. Almost within a week after being in the shop the same thing happens again without notice. I have noticed that other people are having the same problem. I treasure my kids and I do not want this to happen whenever I am on the freeway going 60 or 70 mph and a semi truck runs into the back of me whenever this happens without any notice. Apparently GMC does not know how to fix this problem. There needs to be a recall on this particular GMC model. Is it gong to take the loss of someone's life before the NHTSA takes a stand on this isssue. I have spent over $2000. 00 in repair bills and have the same issue just this past week. I believe that GMC should isssue a recall on this problem and they repair at the their cost.

13 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2013

When I start the vehicle and go to the corner store turning the vehicle off, come out of store to restart vehicle it will not start it may take me 10 minutes to 4 hours to get the vehicle started again. Meaning I have been stranded at grocery stores, work, school functions. Attempting to get the vehicle started again I am constantly turning the switch. At this present time I have not drove my truck in almost 5 months. And I have been making truck payments on a vehicle I can't drive. . . . At this time not sure if it is ignition switch or pass lock I know both parts should be covered because it is a default from the manufacturer.

14 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2013

Today when starting my 2004 Yukon, the information center displayed the messages: "stability control disabled", "engine power reduced". And the vehicle would not go over 20 mph on a level surface and barely 3 mph up a moderately steep hill. I had to pull over on route 80, drive on the shoulder and thankfully made it to a dealer. I've heard of so many GMC vehicles having this same issue. We need a solution before someone gets killed!.

15 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2012

While driving on interstate traction control lite came on in dash then power to SUV was lost then electronic message read out stated "stability control disabled " then " reduced engine speed" message appeared. I was able to pull off interstate but nearly got rearended hit by semi. Engine would run only at idle speed. After shutting off vehicle and waiting minute or two then restarting it ran fine. This has happened numerous times since then. Speeds vary 70,55,40 mph it doesn't matter. After calling different GMC dealers about problem they act like this is something they never heard of. "bull**** !!!!. Its the same problem numerous GMC owners are facing on the internet. GMC customers have spent thousands of dollars with no problems solved. All they want to do is hook you up to electronic machine and overcharge you for the same thing autozone ,etc. Businesses will do for free. I don't have thousands of dollars for them to be parts replacers . GMC should know the exact part to fix this problem. Someone or family is going to get hurt badly if GMC doesn't fix this problem they know they have.

16 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2011

We have a 2004 GMC Yukon. Since we've had it, reduced engine power has become a constant and dangerous problem. Most recently, yesterday, my husband was trying to accelerate to pass a slower vehicle with huge tires on the back only to have this happen. If someone had been behind us, we would have been hit, seriously injured, maybe even dead with some of the circumstances we have had on the interstate. Today is August 23, 2011. We had this vehicle fixed on July 28, 2011, paying almost $600 for it to be taken care of. It says on the ticket that we told them about it and were under the impression this would take care of it. They replaced the accelerator pedal assembly, which I believe included the app sensor, and cleaned the throttle body of excessive carbon build up. After spending $500-600, I want to know why we are still having this problem along with so many others I have seen complain about it online? GMC has a known problem that needs to be resolved.

17 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

Since first purchase, the ever present concerns, inherent with our general motors GMC Yukon xl, have grown; to whereby, they are safety, security, and well-being concerns: a) the squeaking, clunking, locking steering, when turning: service bulletin number: 01863. The NHTSA item number: 10006616. B) the brake pedal, when fully stopped, at times, presses completely to the floor. C) the air conditioner that ever emits a moldy smell. D) the driver side air conditioner, at times, blows hot, when the passenger side blows cold. E) the ever present interior moldy smell. F) the driver side trim panel has dropped down; to whereby, any outside, rearview mirror adjustments are almost an impossibility, and the door locks are difficult to securely operate. G) the inoperative, keyless entry remote. G) the dash lights, at times, are inoperative. H) since first purchase, three (3) new batteries have been purchased, two (2), within the last few months. Since first purchase, we have been ignored, led on, and misled which created time expiration. Since the beginning, with the ever present concerns, we questioned the build quality of our general motors GMC Yukon xl, without any response, at all. Safety, security, and well-being concerns should neither have a time limit nor constraints.

18 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2009

My 2004 GMC Yukon xl speedometer stopped working. It was stuck at 10mph for a couple of days. It went back down to zero but would not register properly after that. It is presently stuck at 120mph even when the car is off. I did contact gm an they said that I would have to bring it in to a dealer for diagnosticts and it would be covered only if it was the instrument panel cluster that was bad.

19 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2008

At 71,200 miles the speedometer on my Yukon xl went out. I called the local GMC dealer regarding issue. I was advised that if I had serviced my vehicle with them they could have possibly made an exception. I was given the 1800# to call. After calling the 1800#, I was told they would investigate the matter. In two weeks I was notified that GMC would be unable to help me with this matter because they had already helped me enough with the shaft that had been lubricated several times at no cost to me. I reminded them that this was due to their faulty equipment that had taken time from me taking my vehicle every 3 to 6 months to get oiled. Last week I took my Yukon to get an oil change and ask that they oil the shaft again. I was informed they no longer do this because they came up with the part to replace it last year 2007. But because I'm out of warranty they can't do this anymore unless I pay. You would think I would have been notified or it would have been replaced when I took it in in November 2007 for an oil change and get that shaft lubricated. That was another GMC dealer.

20 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2005

While driving, the driver's power side seat begins to move forward. The dealer states there was no solution at this time. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on twelve occasions. The driver's seat memory switch was inoperative, there was noise at idle and was unable to be duplicated, the satellite radio would lose frequency, the seam on the drivers seat material was wearing and the horn was delayed.

21 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2005

Since getting this car in 2005, my husband and I have experienced reduced engine power. Whether going 40mph on a 2 lane road or 70 on the interstate, this continues to happen. We have had this issue "fixed" twice, spent about $1000 on 2 separate "repairs," yet the problem persists. I cannot tell you how scary it is to be going with the flow of traffic and then have your engine power reduced. To be going 70 and then forced below 70 is dangerous. We could have been hit and killed trying to accelerate and pass someone. This actually happened. I know numerous gm owners have had this problem across numerous vehicles. Why haven't you forced them to fix it? is it because the government bailed them out, and it would be detrimental to the economy? safety and reliability on roadways should be important, too.

22 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2004

This vehicle just quits running by itself at highway speeds and then you cannot control the brakes, steering or engine. I reported this to odi in March of 2006 confirmation #10153178. I have had the vehicle in to GMC dealers to repair this issue many times and each time I was told there was no recall and that they could not duplicate my problem. I saw on the news recently that other GMC products have this issue and have caused deaths, but my vehicle was not listed in the recall. I want to know why not? I am lucky I did not go over a cliff on wolf creek pass the first time this happened and kill myself. The problem that I am having with this vehicle is exactly the same issue that is on the news now with the other GMC models. This vehicle should have been included in the recall and was not. Someone needs to correct this. I also wrote GMC on oct 11, 2005 and also called them multiple times but to no avail. I finally gave up because no one would listen to me. Well I hope someone listens now before more people are killed because GMC did not include the 2004 Yukon in this recall.
