Carrier/rack problems of the 2007 GMC Yukon - part 1

Two cracks on front dashboard at approximately 7 years. A mechanic had to remove the dash for a repair and the small existing crack grew into a jagged ten inch crack up onto the dash cowling.

The plastic dash board has been cracking over the years. It is now breaking into jagged pieces that are free to fly around the passenger cabin. Cracked pieces around the air bag pose a potential problem to the eyes and face of passengers in the event of a crash. Electrical wires are also exposed to uv light causing premature failure. This vehicle has been meticulously cared for with no other major failures to speak of. I believe that the potentially dangerous dash situation has been caused by substandard materials used in manufacturing.

The dash busted around the airbag and has also cracked on the driver's side which is probably caused by the airbag. I have had this car for 5 years and still can't get the airbags replaced?????.

The dash board cracked, couple weeks later another crack. Now my whole dash has cracks.

The dashboard cover is cracking in multiple places around the airbags and above the instrument panel.

I wish to add complaint for the dashboard crack issue near the passenger airbag, and suspect the airbag support/function may be compromised. I also have received many �paper cuts� from inside door handles chrome over the years but was never contacted by gm or offered warranty replacement as your website states they did - I am the original owner of the vehicle.

Takata recall, my dashboard on my 2007 GMC Yukon is cracked all over and I can literally lift parts up and see under it. We bought the vehicle like this from the used car dealer. So the date it happened in unkown but am wanting to know what I can do about this.

The dash on my 2007 Yukon slt has a crack that has progressively gotten worse right above my driver side airbag.

My dash has cracked and is causing my passage air bag to be lifted up. Very concerned that my passage will be injured in case of an accident. Another crack on drivers side.

Cracking dashboard over the instrument panel. I feel that if an accident occurs, pieces of the dash will likely cause injuries to the driver and possible passengers in the vehicle since it is already cracking. Takata recall I was driving my vehicle when all of a sudden my dashboard started to crack on the driver side & passenger side right where the airbags are located at the time I was on local streets going about 22 mph.

My 2007 GMC Yukon denali has a cracked dashboard. This is the second time the dashboard has cracked on this vehicle. The first time gm did change it, but they wont change it now because the truck is out of warranty. I am very very concerned about this because the crack is right around the passengers air bag deployment area and I believe that in case of an accident plastic shrapnel might hit the passenger and cause excessive cuts to the face, eyes or upper body. I am even more concern because this is a family vehicle, my wife sits on the passengers sit all the time and I also use it to take my daughters to school, the new crack occurred while I was driving on the highway. All of the sudden the dashboard started rattling and shaking heavily. Please help. . .

I'm writing this as just like loads of other people are having the same issue. I have both a 07 Yukon denali and an 07 silverado 2500 both have the exact same issue. The denali is the worst. Cracked dashboard. I'm worried that if I was to have an accident and the passenger airbag was to deploy that sharp pierces of the dashboard will go flying towards the people in the vehicle. Gm really should be doing a recall on this as it is a common issue right through all the vechiles that share the same dashboard. Seems lately every week the cracks get worse. I'm waiting for the day the dashboard falls to pieces. It started around April but since then the dash has fallen to pieces so much since then.

Dashboard is cracked in multiple places around the passenger airbag and above the instrument panel. Pieces have now broken off that could become projectiles if the airbag were to deploy.

The dash board on my 2007 GMC Yukon denali is cracked right above the air bag on the passenger side and above the instrument panel on the driver side. I feel that if the air bag was to deploy on the passenger side with could be a major safety issue due to the fact the plastic pieces from dashboard could break loose while air bag explodes and cause more injury to the passengers of the vehicle. I feel this need to be a safety recall from gm. The vehicle is operational and the cracks have happened over time.

Dash cover cracks and eventually disintegrated. All dealers know about this problem. The dash pieces themselves can become projectiles in an accident. This vehicle has been parked under a car port most of the time we have owned it.

The dash right above the passenger side airbag has cracked and now the dash right above the instrument panel on the driver side is cracking and is quite large there has not been a wreck or any kind of damage it is cracking completely on its own.

My 2007 Yukon dash continues to crack. I have had dash fixed in the past and always put my auto under carport or use sun shades. My dash has continued to crack and is now cracked where passenger airbag is.

Dash board cracked by the right passenger side airbag, and then cracked over the back side of the driver side instrument panel. We always use a heat shield in the summer at work, but vehicle stays in the garage when not driven. I have noticed that this seems to be a problem with GMC SUV's.

Takata recall, cracks in the dash that run to the air bags on the dash. The center speaker is mounted to the plastic dash and move with the road vibration which breaks the dash along with the uv radiation that weakens the plastic. . The dash could splinter in a crash and wound or kill a passenger.

Takata recall . . . . My Yukon denali dash has very bad cracks from the passenger airbag to the speedometer area. These cracks run completely through the dash material, and are "banging" whenever the vehicle goes over a bump. I am very concerned that this bumping and rattling around could set off the passenger air bag, which would send shrapnel throughout the cabin. Since the passenger air bag has the takata inflator, it is more concerning. I have called the dealer several times about this, but they continue to say they can not do anything. Since the vehicle has been in miami, florida since it was purchased, with very high humidity, I would think this would be a priority fix!!.

This summer my dashboard severely cracked in multiple places. It is so badly cracked I cannot imagine how it doesn't pose a safety risk.

Dash has cracked in 3 places. Safety concern because two of them are by the air bag. Afraid if it ever deploys pieces will fly and could cause serious injury.

Takata recall and dashboard cracked in many places and still developing new cracks. Can not find a dashboard replacement at all in the color needed. We received a notice dated July 2016 for airbag recall but not to bring it in until further notice. Still waiting. Also the dash is just getting more and more cracks even with a dashboard velour cover. Please help us.

Takata air bag has been reported to dealer, no action taken to date. Cracked dash at passenger airbag and at driver dash instrumentation. Dealer made aware, no repair offered.

The dashboard has cracked in the top left corner just above the passenger side air bag. This exact same crack in the exact same location has also occurred on my 2007 Chevrolet avalanche which I filed separately under issue 10863128.

Cracked dash by the passenger airbag, I also received a notification of a recall for airbags and a promise to notify when parts are available, I complained to gm and they responded that they will not replace cracked dash , I am a deployed military servicemember and do not have time for corporate greed, let gm know I will never buy any of their products again unless they can prove to me that their cars are safe!.

Dashboard is cracked in two different locations which is not due to the age of the vehicle. I am among 6,172 members of a group with the exact same problem with the exact same crack in the exact same locations on our dashes. Many people have addressed this with GMC only to be turned away.
