1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2024

Defective wire harness between 2 body control modules, causing alarm to go off repeatedly "service trailer brake system" and also "stabilitrack" will come on randomly and lock my brakes up and all of the features in my dash. This has been very scary to drive and has brought the vehicle close to collision more than a handful of times now.

2 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/21/2024

I keep getting a warning on my display on dash about my trailer brake system is not working. Also my temperature gauge stops working and I have to take off negative cable on battery to reset it. Temperature control sensor has been replaced but the problem still continues to happen.

3 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/14/2024

1) wiring harness to the wireless charging pad on the center console that is wired through the door hinge. Shorts out when opening or closing center console. 2) caused a fire that led to smoke and melted components inside center console hinge. Caused smoke and awful plastic burning smell while my kids and I were parked. I had just started the vehicle. My two kids and I had to jump and run from the vehicle. 3) no, but by many forums that dealers and mechanics are aware of this issue and charges you hundreds to fix it when it is manufacture error. 4) this vehicle has been inspected many times. By all the other inspection laws missouri has in place. How has it gotten passed many times with this known issue? 5)no! this put mine and my kids life at risk. It is a known and wide issue yet no one takes this seriously. As it just affected me and my two children, I hope this is taken seriously. Hold manufactures responsible and dealers for selling vehicles with these known issues. Protect people.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2024

Air intake stayed on after shutting vehicle off and locked. It seemed it was in auto start mode from the key fob. Now it is hesitating to go and struggling to switch gears. Local mechanic is unable to pinpoint issue. Will bring to GMC dealership next. The rear camera intermittently works. If you open and close it sometimes it will fix it. Usb ports intermittently work. Both taillights had to be replaced due to intermittently going out. Both front heated seats only work on top.

Consuming a lot of oil, makes a funny clicking noise sometimes when accelerations, had lil pieces of metal in my oil, transmisson problems, 1 front headlight and all rear tail lights went out, trailer brake system would come on and go off now it won’t stop dinging and makes a whole bunch of other lights come on (trailer brake system, park assist, low brake fluid, traction control, collision) dings some much I can’t drive it. Called a gm shop near me and they told me it would cost a whole bunch for each diagnosis for every warning that came on.

Failure Date: 04/01/2023

Driving at a normal speed around 30 mph when vehicle suddenly becomes hard to steer as if the power steering just cut out or off therefore making it extremely difficult to control the vehicle and felt like a rough ride while this is taking place. . . . . Definitely sounds like a safety issue. . . . . . Dash reading warning service pwwr steering.

9 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2023

My car is giving me all kinds of warnings, parking assist off, rear back up, trailer brake, the radio sounds go off, blinker sounds go off, while trying to park power steering locks up, it will die in the middle of a turn. It’s doing everything the 2015 recall was created for. I do not think my car was fixed during the recall period. It is very hazardous.

10 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2022

My vehicle has a service trailer brake system notification in my dash that dings as well. It does it on cold mornings with no trailer attached. I don’t trailer often.

11 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/28/2022

Trailer assist error. Brakes not working. Ac compressors been replaced and the fan runs after the vehicles off and ac only blows warm air.

12 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2022

My "service trailer brake system" messages comes on periodically for days at a time with and without my trailer. The loud chime rings consistently for the duration of the drive. It makes driving unbearable. When connecting my trailer to it, the brakes do not seem to function correctly when towing. This is very dangerous. I found out that a lot of my fellow GMC SUV drivers have the same problem.

13 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2022

Both tail lights work intermittently. Short in wiring ?.

14 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2022

The engine turns off when driving. This has happened at least 50 in the 2 years I've owned the vehicle. It has been serviced at garland shelton GMC in temple, TX. The issue is not fixed. The battery and the negative cable have been replaced. When the engine dies none of the electrical works until I open the hood and wiggle the negative battery cable.

15 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2022

Trailer break system warning keeps appearing.

16 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2022

My taillight has blown and I read online that several other vehicles like mines had this problem. The bulb itself can not be replaced. The whole led box need to be replaced and one side onlybis roughly $800. Being a single mom of 3 boys, how can I afford that? I need my car inspected but with this issue I dnt know what to do. Please help.

17 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2021

The contact owns a 2015 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the power steering malfunctioned causing the steering wheel to become very difficult to turn in either direction. The contact indicated that recently when the failure occurred the vehicle also shut off nearly causing a crash. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the battery cables needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact indicated that the vehicle was previously serviced under the NHTSA campaign number: 18v586000 (steering) however, the failure recurred intermittently. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000.

18 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2021

Driver side brake lights don't work again. This will be the 3rd time that I know of that this piece of equipment has been changed out.

19 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2021

The problem initially started around August 19th when my daughter was driving the SUV. It started suddenly flashing multiple service problems ex trailer brake service, park assist service and stability track service. It started flashing them over and over every second and the engine would rev up then slow down which continued even after she was able to pull over and get it into park. It was terrifying for her. We had the vehicle towed to GMC. GMC felt the electrical problems were due to the fuse box so they replaced the entire fuse box and changed all the fuses. Last week, my daughter again was driving home on the highway and the vehicle started doing the same warning but also displayed several more warnings and the car was lurching forward and slowing down over and over again despite trying to maintain a safe speed. She was close to home and thankfully made it safely home. I drove the car the next morning a few miles to see what was going on and it started doing the same thing with alerts, servicing cycling through the dashboard and the speed and rpm kept revving up and slowing down, I could not maintain a steady slow speed as it seemed like the car was braking every few seconds so it kept lurching forward out of control. We had the car again towed to the same GMC. This time GMC changed out all the battery cables going to and from the batter itself. My husband picked up the car a few days later after being told the problem had been fixed. Within a couple miles of leaving the dealership (and thankfully before getting on the highway) the car started again with the lurching, revving and continuous flashing of a multitude of service alerts/failures. GMC had the car towed back to the service center where it has remained as they run more diagnostic tests. We are concerned that there is a serious electrical problem that they have been unable to figure out on this vehicle which has put each of us at serious safety risk when trying to drive it.

20 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2021

Led brake lights fail due to design error typically on both side of the vehicle. I have found multiple reports of a failure on a circuit board that was poorly designed. A copper tracing is very narrow and fractures due to vibration resulting in brake light failure. Because the entire module must be replaced the repair costs $800-$900 per side.

21 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2021

Led brake light on drivers side fails to illuminate (noticed first at about 72,700 miles). Upon further research, this appears to be a recurring issue with 2015-2016 Yukon and Yukon xl vehicles. The led taillight assembly is a sealed housing and the individual brake light bulbs are not replaceable. There appears to be a design defect that is causing premature failures of these assemblies, which results in a safety hazard because the driver does not receive any notification that the brake lights have failed.

22 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2021

The contact owns a 2015 GMC Yukon denali. The contact stated that while driving the air condition system was blowing hot air and then became inoperable. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the a/c condenser and a/c control module needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacture was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

23 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2021

The tail lights flicker and sometimes don't work at all.

24 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2021

Rear passenger brake light failure. . Known issue that has been neglected by GMC.

25 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2021

The air in our 2015 Yukon has went out and is constantly blowing warm air. Itwill not hold freon. The temps in las vegas get into the triple digits. My 78 year mother constantly uses the vehicle to get places. I have researched the problem and seems to be a constant problem with the design of the ac condenser and hose design. We have been smelling freon for some time so it must have been slowly leaking out. This should be a recall problem since so many people have had the same problem and is definitely a safety problem here in desert. The problem is constant, in motion or sitting still.

26 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2021

Both rear tail lights are inoperable and the dealer wants over $800 to replace. I'm over the mileage limit for the recall so I'm out of luck.

27 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2021

Trailer brake connection gives errors. Has been fixed multiple times with dealer with error still occurring.

28 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2020

Tail light/break light went out for 2nd time. You cannot just purchase a new tail light. The dealer states you have to purchase a new tail light. The dealer wants $800 dollars to a new taillight pod to make the car safe again. Calling GMC you need to spend $100 dollars for a diagnosis in order to be considered for assistance from gm with no promise of assistance.

29 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2020

So my brake light on rear all have gone out due to bad led lights or some known component goes bad. #2. Fuel pump is bad. #3 radiator has a crack in it. This is a 2015 Yukon.

30 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2020

Bought the 2015 Yukon xl as certified preowned. While still covered under certified warranty, I complained about the intermittent tail lamp failure, but the dealer couldn't replicate. You know the rest. . . The certified warranty then expired by mileage, then the tail lamp completely failed, then I took it back in and they say they won't cover it. I spoke to dealer service manager, GMC customer service (plus a manager), but I"m told that they won't assist since I'm out of warranty. I did my part. . . I took the vehicle in while still under warranty as soon as the condition presented itself. It's a shame that GMC won't own this massive failure until a recall issued. Maybe my complaint will be the tipping point that kicks off that process.

31 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/03/2020

The door lock actuator works intermediately. I can't always unlock or lock the door with the key fob and there is not a manual entry.

32 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2020

This vehicle had a failed driver's brake light at about 60k miles and it was replaced as a recall item. At 76k miles the passenger brake light has failed and we are informed it is no longer a recall item because it's out of the recall timeframe. I've also known 2 other people with Yukon's, both neighbors and both have had at least 1 failed brake light. If this is a known failure and safety issue, why are they denying recall at such a low mileage.

33 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2020

I can turn the steering wheel side to side and the car dies power goes low air conditioning fans blow less and get warnings on dash to roll down drivers window and then back up.

34 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2020

Steering locks up at lower speeds or when turning into a parking lot all the ligths shut off at the same time the steering does it has happened more at night lights flicker both interior lights and exterior lights a/c shuts off radio shuts off I have went to different dealers and have not been able to fix this problem even doh I show them videos of what it does both my wife and I have almost had a few accidents because of this.

35 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2020

Major safety issues with this vehicle. Another 2015 Yukon with no tail or stop lights. I'm over millage on special recall. There should be no time/millage issue on this. Seat belts lock up. Brakes are either good or mussy whenever they want to be. Hard to stop the vehicle. Also when I first purchased the vehicle it would completely die (no lights motor died, no power steering, no air bags, no radio nothing at all on the x-way at 70 mph) and the dealer could not repair it! rust on frame rails. (and more).
