My passenger side tail light assembly need to be replaced as the brake lights are not working. This has become a common problem as evidenced by the number of complaints filed on your site for the same issue. Lack of properly functioning tail lights is a major safety concern and a recall should be issued.
Right rear brake light led keeps working off and on. This is a common problem, look at the other complaints, and costs the customer around $700 to fix. The led strip breaks internally and this is the cause of the issue.
Rear tail lights not working. Both tail lights require replacement. There is an open recall for 2016 GMC Yukon's why is there not an open recall for 2015? this is obviously an issue based on the number of complaints made / reported here.
Both taillights inter mentally stop working.
The contact owns a 2015 GMC Yukon xl. The contact stated that water leaked into the roof of the vehicle and saturated the air bag and the main fuse box. The contact stated that there was a TSB for the failure. The vehicle was taken to reno Buick GMC Cadillac dealer, located at 900 kietzke lane, reno, nv 89502, (775)-815-7660, where it was stated that the failure was a factory defect. The technician reached out to the manufacturer and, the manufacturer agreed to cover ten percent of the repair cost. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.
I purchased my vehicle October 31'st 2019 from a local dealership. The milage was about 74k miles. I have only had this vehicle for a few months. My concern is the following. While driving, at least 7 to ten times the vehicle completely stalls. In other words it completely stops. The steering wheel locks. All power is lost. No lights no nothing. This has happened at intersections, it has happened when turning left, it has happened when turning right. It happens when we are yielding. Sometimes the dash starts to flicker and also the console. Sometimes like today without any warnings. This is puts me and my family in a very dangerous situation. Please respond ASAP. I currently have 86k miles on my vehicle.
GMC recently advised us that the tailgate lights have had problems where they "intermittently" do not illuminate. We have had this issue for quite sometime where drivers cannot see our tailgate lights when the problem occurs. Because it has been intermittent, it has been very hard for the shop to diagnose as when they get it and it is on, they can't figure out what is wrong with it. Since we received the letter from GMC, we have been into the dealership to get it resolved, but they will not do it because our miles are over. I have told them that they know its an issue and that it is intermittent and when people take it into the shop to get it diagnose, its a hit and miss. I have now seen over a dozen other GMC's on the road with the same issue. Last week, while traveling with kids to a soccer tournament, both weren't working at night and we were pulled over. I fortunately had the letter in the car and showed it to him. He gave me a warning and advised that it is very difficult for cars to see at night when there are no tailgates on and that GMC had better get this resolved. I have made two requests with GMC and they have denied the request. I even told them that I would cost share if we meet in the middle and they would not. They know this is an issue, yet they aren't willing to extend the warranty or make it a recall. This is very dangerous and could cause a lot of accidents with GMC models nationwide. I hope that this is brought to someone's attention and that GMC is encouraged to get this resolved with 2015 Yukon xl suvs and that we and many others are able to get their tailgates replaced.
Onstar/ gps antenna electrical short and corrosion. Seal on antenna cover incorrectly installed/ defective.
My seat heater malfunctioned, burning a hole in my seat backrest, and burning a hole in my jacket! 30 seconds after leaving my home, driving on a residential street, I suddenly felt a sharp poking in my back. When I reached back I was shocked to feel the seat burning and a hole in the seat! I reacted immediately, turning off the seat heater and pulling over. My car had smoke and smelled of burning plastic. I look at the back of my drivers seat and there was a hole in the seat where it burned straight through. And when I took off my jacket I found a hole there as well where the seat burned through it as well. I had a small burn, but it was only minor. It was a disturbing situation that could have been worse if I didn't react immediately or was driving on the highway. Today I took it into my local GMC dealer who didn't seem very concerned and let me know it would be expensive to get if fixed. I declined the service at this time. I then called GMC customer service who documented my situation, but also didn't seem concerned. I would have hoped GMC would have wanted to at least diagnose root cause to ensure there is not a larger problem on their hands. I am not looking for a payday here. I want to make sure this doesn't happen to others at a time that it could cause a more serious accident or injury.
Rear taillight does not work. Searched online and found that this is a very common issue, gm refuses to fix and tries to charge $800 to replace whole tail light assembly, and they replace with same faulty lights! fix it GMC, ridiculous.
Drivers side tail light intermittently works, doesn't work all the time. Passenger side brake light stays on continuously, never changes.
Owned the car for 2 years, been in the shop three times for the same issue, car jerks going less than 25 mph and while driving and accelerating. Both tail lights are led and inoperable. Ac quit working, recharged once and figure it's a leak. Upon reading reviews GMC is aware of faulty parts but no recall on any vehicle.
Tl- the contact owns a 2015 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that their brake lights fail to illuminate when they are applying the brakes. The contact stated that they received a notice regarding their vehicle being included in a customer satisfaction recall regarding the brake lights. The contact contacted the manufacturer who informed the contact of two recalls, NHTSA campaign numbers: 18v586000 (steering) 19v645000 (service brakes, hydraulic) on their vehicle and referred them to the dealership (stanley wood Chevrolet Buick GMC address: 1674 batesville blvd, batesville, ar 72501 phone: (870) 390-4093) who scheduled an appointment for those repairs then informed the contact that their failure related to a customer satisfaction recall, however, their mileage exceeded the mileage limitation for the repair. The contact contacted the manufacturer again, however, that the repair for the brake lights were outside of the warranty and they were not able to provide the cost of the repair. The approximate failure mileage was 113,000. Gl.
Rear tail lights work intermittently. Sometimes they are completely off, other times they work. This happens both when stationary and when in motion.
The rear tail lights do not work. The dealership identified this fault and said that the problem is very common.
Car was parked in front of our house and combusted in the middle of the night while we were sleeping. Car was exploding and engulfed in flames. . . Completely destroyed via fire and the worst damage was in the engine compartment. Cause of the fire is unknown although based on research sounds like NHTSA campaign #14v007000 or 14v152000. Fire department extinguished the fire and police were on the scene.
No brake light in both rear lighting assemblies. Started with the passenger side and now the drivers side. GMC issued a letter in December 2019 stating they'd pay for repairs if vehicle is less than 6 years or 75,000 miles which ever comes first. We'll I'm over on both. Gmpp extended warranty doesn't cover this repair. Spend $75k for this truck and now this.
Brake lights will intermittently stop working. No consistency to when they stop working or when they start again. Major saftey hazard. GMC knows about the problem but are calling it an extended warranty issue, and not fixing vehicles outside their designated time/mileage because they say it is not a safety hazard. . . it is!!!.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 GMC Yukon xl. While driving and attempting to make a turn at approximately 10 mph, the vehicle shut off and lost power without warning. The vehicle restarted after approximately 30 minutes and please open and close driver's side window appeared. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000.
Brakelight assembly defective, causing intermittent failure. This occurs while stationary, in motion, on city streets, highways and while turning, braking etc.
The left brake light went out, had it repaired at a cost of $779. 00, total replacement, a week later the right brake light goes out, again the total replacement cost is $779. 00. Something wrong when both brake lights go out.
Passenger side tail light has been going out intermittently for months. Since the problem began I've been having battery issues and now battery and light are completely dead. Dealer said it would be $800 for light. There was no indicator/sensor that showed the light was out. I found out by another driver who pulled up next to me and told me. Driving around I've seen many vehicles (same model) with the same issue. This is a safety hazard, because unless someone tells us we don't know the light is out and they are prematurely going out. The cost is ridiculous! this is my second GMC and I did not have any problems like this before. This is the car I drive my children around in! it is apparent that it is a manufacturer issue. GMC needs to do right by its customers, before someone gets hurt!.
Right rear led tail/brake light stopped working. Not easily fixable. Dealers are aware of the problem and make you pay $700+ a piece for a whole new assembly. The issue appears to be a faulty circuit board inside. This should be something that can be taken apart and fixed easily or gm should replace it for free.
Brake light working intermittently. Most times it's not working. Sometimes it does. Stationary and in motion.
Passenger side led tail light stopped working. Saw that this problem has been reported on NHTSA many times (over 400) but there has never been a recall. To fix the tail light the entire fixture had to be replaced at dealer for a cost of $900 which is ridiculous. This is a definite safety hazard as there was no indicator to tell me that the tail light and brake light were out! only found out about the problem when a friend was following me home and told me about it. Surprised that there has been neither a voluntary recall by gm or a mandated recall by the NHTSA. Definitely needs addressing. Also, this problem has been reported on 2015-2017 Yukons so there appears to be either a defective part or bad design.
Rear brake light assembly failing to light when brakes applied and there is not a notification to the driver. This is a manufacture flaw with the led light circuit inside the assembly. There is not a light out notification so the driver is not aware the brake light has failed. This is a safety issue and is an well known issue on the 2015-2019 Yukon. This is occurring often and GMC is having problems with supplying replacements because the demand is so high from the failure. GMC has also raised the price of the brake light by 30% from $425 to $675 not including labor. I called the dealer and they informed it was a high failing item and was on backorder and not sure when they would get one. Driving the vehicle without proper brake lights is a safety concern and not legal so left with little option but to stop driving the Yukon.
Tail lights sometimes work and most of the time does not work. I see hundreds of complaints about this and nothing is being done about it! this will be my first and last time buying a GMC car. This is very dangerous and a very expensive problem to have!.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 GMC Yukon denali. While reversing the vehicle, the contact was informed that the brake lights were not illuminating. However, when the vehicle was in drive, the brake lights illuminated. Also, when the contact depressed the brake pedal to slow or stop the vehicle, the brake lights did not illuminate. The contact called coulter Buick GMC phoenix (1202 e camelback rd, phoenix, az 85014, (602) 396-5994) and was informed that there were no recalls. The dealer referred the contact to the manufacturer. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 64,000.
The left brake light failed with 57k miles. The right one then failed at 61k miles. The dealer wanted $735 each to fix them, as they claim they need to replace the entire led housing. The dealer is well-aware that this is a common problem, and it would appear based on googling the issue that many others have experienced this failure from gm.
Brake lights intermittently do not illuminate.
Driver side brake light is intermittently working. Have seen many complaints for this, seems to be poor design and should be recalled.
Tail lights intermittently go out without notice. This can happen while driving or stationary.
Faulty brake-light and costly fix. Dealership has taillight on back order so a replacement isnt even available. Dealership wants $675 just for the part that cant even be ordered. Dangerous to drive the vehicle with no solution available.
Rear taillight randomly going on and off. Interior light randomly flicker, theft deterrent system often activates, vehicle dash systems randomly reset and most recently vehicle steering wheel locked and car turned off while I was driving with my kids in the car and in a school zone!!!!! this could have been tragic and was very scary!!!!.
After getting pulled over by the police for a tail light that was out,I was in motion and this is when I started my research. Right tail light is out, faulty parts. Checked all fuse and wire connection for corrosion, but ther was no sign of damage. GMC wants to charge $1,500 to fix. The next issue is the paint job. I am at 50,000 miles and the paint is already fading. The clear coat was super thin and cheaply done. GMC said they would cover onley 25% of a $6000 - $12,000 paint job.
