36 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2019

The right rear tail light brake lights have gone completely out. These are one solid housing and have to be replaced to simply fix the brake light. Reverse and turn signal lights are ok. The housings cost 600-700 dollars each to replace which is a ludicrous amount to have to spend. In order to be within regulations for inspection, these have to be working. We feel there should be a recall as there are lots of complaints online about these housings.

37 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2019

My rear tail lights (both driver and passenger side) keep flickering and go out intermittently. They are led lights, not bulbs; therefore, they cant simply be replaced without incurring a cost of $800+ per light. The dealer claims there is no recall on the lights.

38 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2019

Led tail light assembly malfunction. Unknown when issue started, but led lights should outlive useful life of the vehicle.

39 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 05/19/2019

Right tail light is out. Cant believe !! its been only 2 plus years running this vehicle. Under 50k milage!! need GMC to replace or fix for free.

40 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2019

Defective led tail lights do not work all the time. Huge safety issue from a 50,000$+ SUV. Gm will not cover repair if you go over a certain amount of miles. Multiple people have the same issue with these Yukons. Taillights are about 1200 each to fix ridiculous.

41 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2019

People kept telling me one of my tail light was out but every time I'd get home my tail light was on! this kept going on for a few weeks until this time I checked and it was off. I went to have my oil changed and mentioned the issue. They didn't see a problem because of course it was back on. About a month later, the same cycle started. My friend noticed that when I went over a bump it would flick back on. We took it to the local GMC dealership that informed me it was a common issue in these vehicles and the cost to replace was about $1,000. According to the dealership the only option was to replace and not fix. I decided to look up an alternative and found out many others were experiencing the same issues with Yukons ranging 2-3 years as my vehicle. After having it repaired for a fraction of the cost outside of the dealership a month ago it's back to not working again! frustrating part is that this is happening to so many others. . . On youtube alone there are so many videos showing how to repair on own because it's very costly. Recently, I was driving and noticed the person in front of me had the same vehicle and their light was out as well. I guess I'm going to have to replace it.

42 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2019

Tail lights alternating not working. There seems to be some electrical issue with the led tail lights. This is a massive problem and all over the internet. GMC is charging $1000 per tail light to fix despite this being a defect. . Read more...

44 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2019

My wife's 2016 GMC passenger tail light flickering working when it wants. Truck has 50k never been in accident and we are the original owners.

45 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 03/30/2019

Vehicle has 52,000 miles on it and driver side tail light stopped working. It is an led and should last for many years. Has not been in an accident. This is faulty manufacturing. Consumer protection needed.

46 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 03/19/2019

My drivers side tail light is out! dealer charges $700 to repair!.

47 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 02/21/2019

Rear tail light / brake light quit working while still under warranty. We took it to the dealer and was denied covered. The unit is a complete led assembly and cannot be repaired. The price quoted was $700 for the assembly. A quick internet search shows that thousands of people have experienced the same issue and gm will not acknowledge it as a problem and will not cover under warranty. This is most definitely a dangerous situation for owners who suddenly have no tail or brake lights on their new/newer vehicles.

48 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 02/18/2019

Both tail lights have ceased to function within 6 months of each other. GMC states that the original parts were defective, but will not cover repair. Each light costs ~$700 plus labor. This should be a recall issue.

49 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2019

The back massager tail light has stopped working. After much research this seems to be a problem with the vehicle. To replace the light (one light), I was quoted $750.

50 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 02/06/2019

Rear tail light works intermittently causing a risk of being rear ended. Through research this appears to be an issue with many vehicles of this make and model. GMC also charges an outrageous price for the replacement at $1000 from the dealer.

51 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2019

Oem led tail lights have failed on my GMC with 40,000 miles on it. The bulb is good, yet the led portion (which costs over $800 to fix) needs to be replaced. This portion is the entire rear brake light housing. This is very common among these vehicles heated seats quit working on denali. The backrests still heat up, but the bottoms don't heat up at all. Also, they will not turn on in remote start mode even though they are set to turn on in this mode.

52 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2019

I drive 2016 GMC Yukon, and the entire tail light on the passenger rear side has gone out on it. I read about several people with the same year and model truck having this issue. I feel like GMC should do a recall because my vehicle isn't three years old yet.

53 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2019

Drivers side tail light/brake started failing, only working intermittently while driving and while stopped. Now only a small outer corner of the the light is working.

54 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2019

Faulty tail light housing, results in tail/brake lights not working. Not the result of damage, simply bad design in the led housing and electrical connections. The electrical connection was poorly constructed, and the only fix is to completely replace the entire housing at $750 including labor.

55 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2016 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that the brake lights and tail lights stopped working without warning. The vehicle was taken to alexander Buick GMC of simi valley (2100 first st, simi valley, CA, (805) 582-6100) where it was diagnosed that the led console panel and bulbs needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.

56 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2019

Tail light issues. Replaced driver side light approximately less then 6 months ago and passenger tail light is out. Same issues as driver side light.

57 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2019

Intermittent tail light/brake light failure.

58 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 12/17/2018

The rear tail light is not working properly. Around December 17, 2018 I was driving my vehicle on the city street and highway when several people advise me my light was out and not working. I check it once arrived at home and it was working properly and didn't problem. And a week later same issue from people pulling me over to advise me my tail light was out. Around January 10, 2019, I went in to hutchinson auto mall GMC dealer and they advise me everything is working properly and doesn't see a problem, and advise me to bring back should I experience the outage again. I inspect vehicle as well and seem no problem. 23 January 19 same problem and went back to dealer and they discover the outage and advise me the led tail light strip was out and need to replace the assembly. It appears their seem to be a wiring issue where the light is and out. To keep from a serious problem or fire. Request immediately investigation. The technician also advise me this seems to be a common problem.

59 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 12/14/2018

Read led brake lights are intermittently not working. Because they are a sealed unit, cannot change the bulb, need to replace entire assembly. Dealer is quoting $831 per assembly to replace, for a total of $1662. Gm is refusing to address this safety concern because the car is just over 4k miles over warranty mileage. I have been notified by other drivers on the road that my brake lights are not working. This is an expensive repair just to "replace the bulbs". . Read more...

60 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 09/11/2018

Both rear tail lights have failed under 40,000 miles. Defective! please recall!!!.

61 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2018

Driverside tail light intermittently stops working. Car milage is in the 40,000's. Diagnostic test at dealership where purchased confirms " driver rear tail light shorted out internally. Recommend replacing driver tail light. Recommend tail light assembly $899" . My sister has a Yukon xl denali 2016 and has the similar issue but both of her tail lights intermittently stop working posing a huge safety concern. Driving in my area I see many newer Yukon xl with the driver side tail light out. Lighting is not covered under extended warranty and cost to fix is extremely expensive, which could make the average driver put off the large expense. The tail light intermittantly stops working while the car is on, does not make a difference if the car is stationary or in motion. Service rep at dealership stated this problem is "common".

62 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2018

Both tail lights and brake lights stopped functioning within a week of each other. No bulb to replace as they are leds and entire housing has to be replaced.

63 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2018

Drivers side brake lights went out, car is only two years old. Three weeks later passenger side brake lights went out. Driving on a highway for three hours as people honked and rolled their windows down to let us know we didn't have brake lights. Took to get fixed and the lightbulbs, which are led and should have lasted longer than two years, are not replaceable, the entire tail light assembly needs to be purchased at $700 a piece. When people are unable to afford $1400 before labor they will drive without brake lights. This is a serious hazard and a ridiculous manufacturing flaw to have light bulbs that are not replaceable. GMC should be held accountable.

64 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 07/14/2018

Takata recall - the brake lights work on and off. Sometimes they come on and we've been stopped multiple time to say they are not working. I've almost been rear ended as a result! extremely dangerous driving condition. It fhas occurred when I am at a stop light or driving and slowing down on a city street. I have seen many GMC Yukon xls on the road with no tail light and my sister owns a 2016 Yukon xl and is having the exact same issue.

65 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 07/13/2018

Rear tail light seems to work intermittent. When the temperature goes up it does not work, cool down it works. My Yukon is only 2 years old, I thought led last longer, that is a big joke. To replace it at the dealers would be $803. 00 for a tail light. That is highway robbery. The dealership needs to look into this to see why there are so many problems from other individuals. I will think twice before I purchase another GMC vehicle.

66 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2018

The passenger tail light and brake light work intermittently.

67 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2018

The rear tail lights on my 2016 Yukon slt both went out.

68 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2018

Led tail light/brake light failure. These tail lights on the 2015 to present GMC and Chevrolet suvs have premature failure. The cost to the public for these lights are around 700$ each to replace. Gm needs to recall the taillights or have them warranted for the life of the vehicle. This creates a safety hazard for drivers and not to mention a possible traffic ticket coupled with the cost associated with the replacement; gm needs to recall these for the shear fact that they cost as much as a house payment just to replace one light.

69 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2018

Faulty wiring on tail lights. Light went out very quickly. Non-functioning now.

70 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2018

Passenger side brake light started going out then will go back on and go back out and then it just went out completely the car is less than 2 years old. Bought it brand-new I have been the only owner. There is no reason why a tail light should be going out before the car is even 2 years old.
