Vehicle Speed Control problem #1

We are located in henderson, nv and we were driving on the freeway in a construction zone with no emergency lanes when the vehicle lost all power to the engine going the speed limit. The engine had seized up which is a known problem with the 6. 2l GMC motors. We have done all the recalls recommended by the manufacturer. The engine seizing, locking up , put our family in danger . We were luckily enough to be close to an offramp where people in other vehicles barley let us over so we can pull off the road or we would of been stuck in the middle of the highway with cars flying by us with little kids in the car. This is unacceptable and as much as this happening and GMC not fixing the issues, people are going to get hurt or killed. It is a huge safety concern! . This is a known issue with these motors and problems and GMC is putting bandaids on the situations when lives are in danger. Our truck is a 2023 GMC Yukon denali with only 53k miles on it.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #2

While driving in approximately 10°f weather after the vehicle had been parked outside overnight during snowfall in chicago, the vehicle displayed a warning that said “do not drive — maximum speed 43 mph. ” at the same time, the brake pedal became extremely hard and the vehicle had significantly reduced braking ability, requiring much longer stopping distance. This occurred without any brake warning lights beforehand. After the vehicle warmed up and was restarted, the message eventually cleared but then there was a new transmission warning and the check engine light went on. After driving for a long commute, eventually all warnings disappeared. I personally know another 2023 Yukon owner who experienced the exact same message and braking loss under similarly cold conditions, which suggests this may be a broader safety issue affecting this model year. Because this involved a sudden safety-system activation combined with temporary brake loss, there was a real risk of being unable to stop the vehicle safely or avoid a collision. My vehicle is within the year range of gm’s brake-system software recall n242447990 (ebcm brake fluid loss detection issue), and it is unclear whether my case is related, but the symptoms point to a potential systemic braking or electronic brake control problem in the 2023 Yukon. This issue warrants investigation due to the combination • hard brake pedal • reduced braking performance • speed-limiting safety warning • no prior diagnostic warning • occurrence in very cold temperatures a sudden loss of braking ability is a serious safety defect.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #3

Onstar connectivity module failed after dealer updates. The onstar module controls super cruise hands free driving. Module can fail during use causing accident. Vehicle did not display any warning on display screen. Vehicle is available for inspection. GMC dealer confirmed onstar module failure and is waiting on part delivery for replacement. Several searches in online forums confirm this is an issue for thousands of GMC vehicles.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #4

I bought my 2023 Yukon denali ultimate on or around August 9 2023, and I bought it brand new. On may 28 2024, around 30k miles, I was on the highway and could no longer accelerate. I luckily got myself into the breakdown lane before my car shut down & lost power, ended up being towed to the closest dealership. After 18 days at the dealership, I finally had my car back with a "new engine". Fast forward to November 25, 2025, I was on the highway again, my dash lit up telling me to "press start". As I figured that was not a good idea while driving in the fast lane on the highway, I did not. In a panic I got myself over to the breakdown lane where my car turned off. This time (November 2025), I still had power, but no car turnover. After 6 days of my car sitting at the dealership, they finally had the time to look at the issue. The dealership did the recall and got the car started, but the car still had a funny sound that the mechanics didn’t like , so they were waiting to hear back from higher up people as to what to do. Today I got the call that they will be replacing the engine for a second time and I will not have my car back until the first week of January. There were zero warning lamps, zero symptoms, nothing. I am lucky that the highway wasn’t too busy in that moment, because there were many 18 wheelers on the road that day, and one almost swerved into my car missing it by about two feet while my dead car sat in the breakdown lane. Yes I called the state police, yes one trooper kindly pulled behind me to ask if I was safe and had a tow on the way. But that truck that nearly plowed into my dead car could have prevented me from picking my [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] daughters up from school, forever . To say that I am disgusted with gm, is an understatement. They’re risking lives. I should not fear for my life, my kids lives in a new, "safe" vehicle. No pun intended, but this is highway robbery. Vehicle Speed Control problem #5

Purchased 2023 GMC Yukon on August 21, 2025 and after starting the vehicle on October 2, 2025 the whole instrument panel cluster malfunctioned, failed to turn on, currently does not work and is available for inspection upon request. The instrument panel cluster is all black, it shows glitching flashing white lines on the right side of it therefore being unable to read the speedometer, fuel gauges, tire pressure, oil life, engine temperature, etc. . Prior to the instrument panel cluster malfunction, there were no warning indicators. Being unable to view the instrument cluster, makes the vehicle hazardous & risky to utilize for me and my family. This vehicle has not been confirmed or inspected at this time.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #6

Speed control became stuck and I had to hit my breaks to stop acceleration. Vehicle stopped shifting while driving down the road periodically. Warning collision lights and traction control lights randomly come on with nothing in front of vehicle. Yesterday vehicle would not start or even unlock. When I did get the vehicle to start by manually unlocking it and trying over and over it would not go forward or backward although the engine did rev up. All warning lights were on including traction control and check engine. It did randomly start moving but the “service steering column” light and check engine light are still on . The car periodically revs up while going down a hill when it needs to downshift instead. It has completely shut off driving down the road through town and stopped. I had to hurry and turn it back on as there were cars behind me. It’s a 2023 and I don’t feel safe driving it with my kids.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #7

While driving the 370 miles from fairbanks to anchorage with our family and dogs, our vehicle shut down completely with no warning. The drive is through a very remote section of alaska. While passing a slower vehicle, our Yukon completely shut down, to include the all controls including the dash and lights. We were unable to complete the pass, leaving us in direct line with on coming traffic with no ability to speed up to get around the other vehicle. The other vehicle, not knowing we had lost all power, continued driving the same speed and eventually we were able to get back into the proper lane and coast to a stop on the side of the 2 lane highway. The vehicle would not start and with the temperatures outside at 12 degrees it got chilly fast. Luckily we travel with all of our winter gear. Had this incident happened on one of the many steep descents or curves with snow and ice, the outcome could have been disastrous. My wife has decided that if the vehicle does get fixed, she does not feel safe driving home in it. Reading online forums show that this is a very common occurrence and individuals are looking into a class action lawsuit against gm due to the safety issues associated with this. An individual passing by had a code reader and tried to reset the ecm but could not. I will include the report.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #8

At 9,900 miles my safety camera system failed which disabled the cruise control and all safety features that used the camera. Car was out of service for nearly two weeks and subsequently fixed by the dealer under warranty at no charge. At 11,300 miles I was driving on an interstate highway in the left lane at rush hour, without warning the car stopped accelerating the car shifted into neutral and totally lost power. It was a very dangerous situation with me in the left lane in heavy traffic. I am a skillful driver and thankfully I was able to make it off the travel lanes on the highway. The temperature was 18 degrees at the time and I had to wait outside for a tow truck. The engine seized without warning or noise and this presents a severe danger to the driver of the vehicle and other vehicles on the highway. There was a substantial possibility that other vehicles could not avoid me as I was exiting the travel lanes. There was also a substantial possibility that the vehicle would simply be in the travel lane stopped on a divided highway.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #9

Driving in my newer gm Yukon ultimate at 13k miles on the freeway. Vehicle with no warning shuts down while going 60mph in the middle lane. Was able to safely steer the car to the side of the road to avoid a collision. Vehicle lost all electrical contact. Could not shift into neutral to tow. Turns out vehicle engine had to be replaced. Gm approved a new engine replacement and are planning to return the vehicle back to put on the road. The vehicle is unsafe, at 5k miles, 6 months prior, the vehicle had to have the steering system replaced due to failure as well. Online research shows that others are having the same issue with failed engines on these gm vehicles and models.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #10

Driving at 70 mph, the vehicle shifted into neutral without warning. When attempting to place the vehicle back into drive, the vehicle dashboard siad "vehicle condition not met" . I slowed the car and pulled over. It shifted into park but now will not start and will not go into neutral for towing.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #11

The vehicle was crawling to a stop in preparation to park in front of my garage door. When I move my hand across the steering wheel, my hand must have come in contact with the toggle/scroll for the “resume speed” function of the cruise control. The vehicle abruptly began accelerating towards my house. I was able to press the brake pedal to deactivate and stop the vehicle safely. I note that in the past week, perhaps even two, the cruise control has not been used. The vehicle is driven 2-4 trips a day.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #12

My vehicle stalled while driving on a busy highway & I had no option but to pull over, which left me & my family in a very dangerous position. Had to remove my daughter's wheelchair onto a tow truck as the vehicle had no power to use the hoist for her powerchair. Again, on the side of a busy road! towed the vehicle to a gm dealership, who stated there was catastrophic engine failure & the engine had to be replaced. Had no way to transport my daughter until I got a new engine since her hoist was stuck at the dealership. This was our original vehicle, until the sold me another one with the same defect (2024 Yukon for more money!). That vehicle was reported in complaint 11657786.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #13

When driving in a parking lot, due to the design of the cruise control set switch, it is very easy to unintentionally set the adaptive cruise control. Specifically, when maneuvering in a parking lot at low speeds (below 5mph) and allowing the wheel to return to center by spinning in your hands, the cruise control switch which is a dial/lever that sticks out beyond the surface of the wheel, catches on your hand and engages the cruise. This sets the cruise control target speed to a 15 mph even if you are currently going slower than that. The vehicle then accelerates on its own at a fairly aggressive pace to get up to 15mph. You can of course hit the brakes and cancel the cruise control, but in a tight parking lot scenario this unintended acceleration could easily cause you to strike another vehicle, obstacle, or pedestrian. The cruise control on this vehicle is enabled by default on start up and the single action of hitting the set switch/dial engages the cruise and accelerates sharply even if you had not previously used cruise in that ignition cycle. This seems like a stupid design and dangerous, and would be very easy to fix with a software update to not let the cruise become enabled below 15mph. We did not have the dealer investigate because this appears to be the normal operation of the cruise control system. There were no unusual warning lamps. This has happened several times and also has happened to my wife while driving.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #14

On March 10, 2023 I exit hwy 35 at the city of cottula texas, as I took the exit lane and arrived at the stop sign, the vehicle came to a complete stop the engine stop idling and the transmission switch to neutral, this created a safety issue for me and my family because I was unable to restart vehicle and I created traffic congestion at the intersection, I am worried that this can happen again and I might be exposed to other vehicles crashing against my vehicle or even worse if this is to happen in the highway I will not be able to control the proper handling of my vehicle.
