The contact owns a 2017 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 mph, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the brake pedal remained on the floorboard. The contact stated that the vehicle was driven until the vehicle eventually slowed down. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the rotors and brake pads needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, and it was determined that the abs needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,000.

Another vehicle pulled out in front of me. I managed to avoid them despite my brake rotor failure. 1999 GMC Yukon denali - during maximum braking from 45 mph the left front brake rotor suffered a catastrophic failure. The rotor failure resulted in the vehicle suddenly surging to the right while braking. The rotor disk become completely separated from the hub mounting flange. The rotor was original from the factory with 95,000 miles on it. The truck had recently passed PA state inspection (August 2007) and a full brake job was done at that time. This included turning the rotors. A new rotor was installed during the repair after this incident.
Had my truck inspected with 16,700 miles on it. Was told it needed to have the rear rotors turned or replaced. The mechanic said gm had a problem with bad metal on a few models that corroded prematurely. The repair is not covered by any warranty. My truck is a03 Yukon xl only driven on some weekends and never been in any type of corrosive environment.

: the contact stated in November when the vehicle was taken to the dealership for routine service, the dealership noticed the rear rotors were hitting the inside of the backing plates inside the hub. Also, the rotors were rusted. The front end was also observed to be shaking. The dealership determined the shaking was normal 4x4 characteristics; however the dealership installed a lube kit that goes on the steering column underneath the hood. The shaking returned and the dealership informed the contact the lube kit was no longer a remedy for this shaking problem. There was not another remedy offered.

The contact owns a 2004 Yukon xl which he had owned for eighteen months with about 12,000 miles on it. The rotors had rusted and pitted on all four wheels. The dealer said they must be replaced. Gm said they were not responsible for brakes and called this an environmental wear problem. The contact was informed of this on 10-06-05 during a routine service check. The contact thought this was a defect in the brakes on because the rotors should have not have worn out with only 12,000 miles on the car. Updated 11/15/2005 - after the consumer indicated he was going to call NHTSA he received a call from an area rep. The rep indicated that gm approved replacement of the front rotors and cleaning of the rear brakes under warranty.
Dealer reported that the rotors were full of corrosion and would have to be replaced instead of cut, however brakes were still good but because of rotor problems brakes would have to be replaced also. Rotors have now been replaced along with brakes but not by dealer, did on own to save money.
While driving, the vehicle ride started to be choppy no longer smooth and when I applied the brakes the vehicle felt like it was bucking, then when we proceeded down the road we heard a loud bang of metal ,then it felt like the brake pad had broken or caliper had fallen and it was grinding the noise lessened with a little pressure on brake pedal. Service station found center of rotor had separated on front passengers side and driver's side was ready to go. I called GMC and was told there have been no recalls on 1998 Yukon's for rotors and because I had 102731 miles it was not their problem. Both rotors were replaced with new pads, I told GMC that I kept the original rotors from service station. Updated 01/27/06.

I had to replace a set of rear disc rotors that were rusted on inside disc walls. Will not pass inspection.
Rotors warped, replaced Jun 2001 at 10,000 miles, and again on Apr 2005, at 56,000, used under normal driving conditions.
Experience problems with anti-lock braking system on 2002 Yukon. The rotors rusted prematurely and caused the sensors to fail. Updated.
While applying the brakes,the pedal went to the floor. The driver noticed the brakes lack of braking power in order to stop the distance. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer for an inspection. The mechanic informed the consumer that the rotor needed to be replaced due to the rotors being warped. Please fill in additional information.
Replacement of rear brake rotors replaced due to wear of emergency brake. Required new rotors and a break kit. I was shown the scored rotors and said that the parking break did not operate. The vehicle had been maintained by the dealer and the maintenance schedule was followed to the the letter.

The contact stated since purchasing the vehicle it has bucked while braking. It was as though the back brakes were working and the front brakes did not work. The vehicle was taken to the dealership multiple times, but they were unable to diagnose the problem. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic, and he changed the rotors. This did not repair the problem. Recently heard a pop, and when she tried to apply the brakes they went to the floor. She had to drive into a handicap sign to stop the vehicle. She was unable to turn the vehicle around to have it towed. It has not been to a dealer.
Brake failure. It appears the material the rotors are made of are not up to specifications probably made in china. The surface of the brake pad area is flaking off thus drastically, reducing the barking power of the vehicle, 2002 GMC Yukon xl denali.
Brakes pull hard to left. Salesman said it would "go away" after 1000 miles. It didn't. Had serviced. Still didn't fix. Made it worse. Front break pads are wearing also. Your database said the same/sinilar problem exists with suburban. No mention of Yukon.
Master cylinder was replaced on two different occasions. Vehicle has been taken to dealer on six different occasions for brake problems. Dealer has provided repairs under warranty until last time. Consumer has had another mechanic to inspect brakes, and mechanic found that rotors were wearing out unevenly, causing other parts to damage. The brakes were poor and not safe.
Every time abs brakes are applied, vehicle fails to stop, resulting in extended stopping distance. Had been to dealer & was informed by mechanic cause of problem not found. Had abs brake system replaced & the rotors turned.

While driving on highway another vehicle was switching lanes. Consumer went to hit the brakes, and vehicle kept going, went into the median. Also, was pulsating when applying the brakes. Contacted dealer, who stated that the rotors were warped.
Front/rear brake pads overheated/cracked, causing vibration upon braking; also, front rotors and drums warped, resulting in vehicle vibration upon braking.
