Failure Date: 08/12/2020

Car keeps running rough, stuttering when switching off, smells like gas. Engine light comes on and goes off every other day. Started after fuel injector recall, dealership says it's the fuel pump leaking and unrelated to the fuel injector problem. I don't know if they changed the gaskets and the lines when fixing the injectors. It's a high pressure fuel pump with direct injectors.

7 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2008 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 01/21/2017

My vehicle experienced an electrical short in the fuel pump flow control module, causing the engine to stall while I was traveling around 70 mph on the freeway. I lost engine power, power braking, and power steering. I nearly had an accident when pulling off to the shoulder and braking. I am aware that there was a recall of the part that failed in gm bulletin 14515b. Gm however informed me that my VIN was not covered under the recall. The defect in my fuel pump control module has been confirmed by my GMC authorized service center. I am looking for reimbursement of the $550 dollars I paid to sewell service to replace this component as it surely should have been covered in the recall.

8 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2013 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 12/27/2016

This complaint is in reference to my 2013 GMC Yukon denali. Since purchasing the vehicle in Dec 2014 it has been in the repair shop 3 times for shutting off without warning while driving. Each time I have been on the interstate driving around 70 mph and the vehicle shuts off. Thank god no one rear ended me and I was able to pull over to the side of the road. The first time 28 may 14, the problem was the fuel pump module, but a month later it was determined it was the fuel pump. Today 28 Dec 16 the fuel pump is being replaced again. So we have replaced the fuel pump module and fuel pump twice. Traveling at any speed and your vehicle shut off is dangerous. I consider this a safety hazard and could lead to serious injury or death.

A code was set for fuel pump pressure, then today we were in marna az, and our vehicle died while driving in town. A policeman followed us to find out what was wrong and we told him. To our surprise he has been having the same issue with his 2015 tahoe. He brought his vehicle to dealership and they told him it here was a problem with the fuel pump when the temp is too hot.

12 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2009 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 05/11/2015

Yukon started dying at stop lights. Check engine light came on. Started to pull out from intersection almost got t-boned when vehicle died. There was a recall for some 2009 Yukons for fuel pump control module but GMC said this VIN was not included. Sounds like it is a bigger problem then they are admitting. I guess someone else has to die before something is done! towed vehicle to mechanic had to replace the fuel pump control module. $690. 00. Should be able to get reimbursed for a defected part! recall should be expanded.

The failure mileage was 110,999.

15 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2006 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 10/07/2013

I noticed a gasoline odor coming from my fuel tank area, I immediately had a mechanic inspect the issue as I was fearing a possible fire hazard. Upon inspection he found the fuel lines to the fuel pump to have disintegrated and spewing fuel . The fumes and fuel were dangerously close to the exhaust system and I fear that I just narrowly averted disaster. Further inspection by the mechanic determined that the brake lines were also about to rust through and the effect of that would be catastrophic in a highway or any hard braking situation that could initiate enough pressure to cause the lines to burst. I am very upset that GMC hasn't apprised owners of this hazardous and life threatening situation with these vehicles. I have replaced all affected components and feel that this is cause for a recall and reimbursement from GMC before a catastrophic event takes place due to blatant negligence of the manufacturer. My understanding is many people have voiced concern over this and GMC has turned a blind eye.

16 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2004 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 03/27/2012

The top of the fuel pump assembly rusted through allowing gas fumes to enter the vehicle and the garage in which the vehicle was parked. It also caused hard starting. The replacement fuel pump was of a different design with the top being constructed of aluminum and brass and not steel to prevent rusting.

17 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2001 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 06/22/2010

In June of 2010 my fuel pump went out and I had to have it towed to a shop and fixed 700. 00. Then in July of 2011 the fuel pump went out again, same thing had to have it towed and fixed at the same shop another 700. 00. Then again in November of 2012, towed to same shop and same price. Now here we are 2014 and my fuel pump just went out for the fourth time. I have never received anything about a recall on my vehicle. I have had my hub barrings replaced and my wheel almost fell off. Just this past February I had a gas leak from the line and a whole tank of gas was on my garage floor. I'm glad I just found out due to looking online about all the recalls on my vehicle. Now my question is who's going to replace my fuel pump this time and make sure I don't have this problem anymore.

18 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2001 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 09/25/2009

Was driving vehicle, stopped vehicle, noticed that gas was leaking from underneath the vehicle. Took car to dealership to diagnose issue. Quoted $970 to fix. Fuel nipple broke on fuel pump assembly. Entire assembly had to be replaced. Gm recalled 316,058 vehicles for this issue. My vehicle was not part of the recall based on the VIN number. GMC will not compensate even though other Yukon xl's and chevy suburban's have had this problem. I have a friend who owns a 2001 chevy suburban and he had the same thing happen to his vehicle. He had to have the same part replaced on his vehicle. This problem is a safety issue. Looked at the fuel pump assembly that was defective and the fact that one of the 3 plastic nipples broke, I feel that this should be a recall. This part is defective. Now GMC has a lifetime guarantee on the replacement fuel pump assembly. This tells m that they are aware that the original ones were faulty parts. So in other words we've got good news and bad news. . . We will guarantee the part for lifetime but it will cost you $970 for a part that I should not have had to replace. This was not due to wear and tear. They have plastic nipples on the top of the fuel pump assembly line. Gas eats plastic.

19 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 08/05/2008

The transmission was leaking and recalled and that was fixed by gm. The brake lights sometimes over heat and I had to replace the saddles on them. I do not even know they go out but I have people honking at me that I have no lights in the rear. Now with my warranty out and have 86. 000 miles on it the fuel pump is out on the vehicle at a 700 dollar cost. The door knob fell off, I have oil pressure issues all of the time. Last November the drive shaft fell off as I was driving down the road and had to pick it up off of the interstate which someone could have gotten hurt. Brake issues. When you spend 48,000 dollars on a vehicle it makes you sad that gm does nothing to help their customers. Maybe the government should not help them anymore. Today they wanted me to take it to gm and pay 200 dollars for a diagnosis. Just more money in their pocket. I want to another shop for advise. This car is definitely a disappointment nd lemon.

20 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2003 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 12/14/2005

21 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2004 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 09/28/2004

9-28-my 2004 GMC Yukon had 22643 miles on it. I went to get in the car that morning to start it up and it would not start. The vehicle was still under warranty and had to be towed to the dealership. Mechanic stated that my fuel pump had went out. I was told that the fuel pumps on these vehicles were faulty. They replaced my fuel pump. 5-24- my Yukon had 50012 miles on it. I got in the vehicle that morning to start it and it would not start. Once again it had to be towed into the dealership. The mechanic stated that my fuel pump went out and had to be replaced again. This time it cost us approximately $900. 00 to repair. They informed us that the newest fuel pump had a lifetime warranty and if it happens again we will not have to pay for it. When my husband asked why the 2nd fuel pump they put on did not have a lifetime warranty, we were told that gm doesn't warranty any warranty parts. Both times this happened I was stranded with my 3 young children. Each time they replaced the fuel pumps but they cannot tell me why my fuel pumps seem to quit approximately every 25000 miles. I have contacted gm and they can't give me any answers either. I am in the process of trying to get them to repurchase my vehicle.

22 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2000 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 03/26/2004

My youkon would not start intermittently. I had it towed to courtesy Chevrolet and they gave me an estimate for $1500 to replace the fuel tank and pump module. I could not believe a truck only 4 years old already needed a new fuel tank. So I searched the NHTSA database for similar complaints, and found that other people are having the same issue except it is being caused by shorted pump wires in the gas tank. I was able to drive the truck home and removed the gas tank myself so I could get to the bottom of this. When I removed the pump module from the tank it was just like everyone else had said. The wires were completely melted together. Therefore the intermittent issue with the truck not starting was being caused by the wires shorting from time to time inside the gas tank. What is amazing to me is that I am still alive today and my wife and two kids (6 & 8) did not get injured. I believe there is an effort of gm to cover this problem up due to my dealings with gm customer support (or their lack of). Reporting this to the NHTSA is just my first step. I will further elevate this to the necessary level to get this problem fixed in all the affected vehicles. I have fully documented this and have taken digital pictures of the pump module shorted wires. If anyone wants to see them email me at kchristopher@cfl. Rr. Com.
