1 Seat Belt problem of the 2022 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 06/07/2025

The seatbelt latch for the middle seat in the third row will not latch. Big safety concern when 8 people are riding because that seatbelt cannot be used. We have not yet taken it to a dealer. We rode with 8 passengers and did not see any warning lights when that person was not buckled.

The third row seat attachment from the seat to the frame has broken. It is a hook type mechanism that holds the entire row of seats to the latch in the floorboard. This car was not in an accident and the seats broke when the vehicle stopped. There should be a recall. Also the back seatbelt was on a recall for this vehicle but doesn't show up anymore. Please restore the recall. Thank you.

6 Seat Belt problem of the 2018 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 12/10/2024

Both second row seatbelt retractors have had issues retracting. We had them checked today while our car was in for other issues. Both seatbelt retractors are broken and need replacing ($1600). Without replacing them, the passengers using those seats would be at grave risk in an accident. We are the original owners of the vehicle, our young children are fastened in their booster seats with parental help. There has been no extreme wear and tear or any abuse to the seatbelts.

7 Seat Belt problem of the 2018 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 10/10/2024

Both seat belt retractors seem to be failing and something inside the retractor is cutting the seat belt. I had to replace the right seatbelt because it snapped after it was rubbing on the retractor inside the body. Now it seems the left side is having the same issue. The left seatbelt now will not retract and it looks like it's been rubbing also so eventually it will probably break.

8 Seat Belt problem of the 2019 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 07/29/2024

The seatbelt on the second row driver side captain chair no longer works. It started not retracting about a year ago and now it won’t retract or pull out so it is stuck and cannot be used. The $85k Yukon is only five years old, seat belts should last longer than that. GMC wants us to pay $500 to fix a safety concern seat belt. I would understand if the vehicle was 10+ years old but we are still less than 100k miles and we just hit 5 years.

9 Seat Belt problem of the 2018 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 04/21/2024

Driver seat automatically adjusts while driving particularly when I accelerate from a red light or stop sign. This causes me to not reach the peddles. I have to pull over and reset my seat. Has been doing this for two days. My vehicle is not equipped with the automatic memory seat. My two rear seatbelts in the middle row are always lose they do not retract. This has been going on for a couple of months.

10 Seat Belt problem of the 2021 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 03/27/2024

Our rear seat belts no longer retract after unbuckling. We do not know if they will work in the case of an accident as they will not even retract their own weight after unbuckling.

The last thing is the vibration went I use the brakes to stop the car is shaking this was my first new car and is bad car and unsafe car.

17 Seat Belt problem of the 2005 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 08/24/2021

The contact owns a 2005 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at 80 mph in an interstate with her in the passenger seat and her two children in the rear seats, the steering wheel seized inadvertently and the brake pedal was depressed but failed to respond. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle veered off to the left side of the road. The contact stated as her husband was trying to regain control of the vehicle, the tires hit the pavement and the vehicle rolled over 7 times in a ditch, within 180 yards and landed on its passenger side. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact and her husband noticed that the children were no longer in the vehicle and they immediately exited the vehicle through the front driver's side window to search for them. The contact stated that her 12 year old daughter who was sitting in the rear passenger side seat of the second row with a seat belt, was ejected through an unknown window and landed in a bush, 80 yards away from where the vehicle had landed. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 05v163000 (seat belts). The contact's 20 year old son who was sitting in the rear driver seat of the second row with no seat belt, was ejected through an unknown window and landed 50 yards away from where the vehicle had landed. 18 Seat Belt problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 05/20/2021

The side air bags on the passenger and driver side front and back deployed while driving down the road. The driver side airbag hit my 19 year old son in the side of the face hard enough to cause his ears to ring. There was not a reason for the air bags to go off spontaneously. He had to pull to the side of the road blindly because he didn’t know if he had been hit by another vehicle. We have filed a complaint with GMC. This could have caused a serious wreck injuring my son or someone else on the road due to the shock and force of the air bags hitting him and the inability to see after they deployed. Yes it is available for inspection.

20 Seat Belt problem of the 2008 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 10/24/2020

Hi, my husband and I just purchased this vehicle. A few days after we took a drive with several passengers. The seatbelt behind the driver's would not automatically click. The passenger had to try several times before the seatbelt locked in place. This happens while driving and also while not driving.

21 Seat Belt problem of the 2012 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 08/15/2020

While working on an airbag warning light I encountered 2 distinct problems with my airbag and vehicle system. 1. The main underhood fuse panel on my vehicle has portion of oxidation on the fuses themselves. This oxidation is causing fuses to appear intact but are causing the circuit to open. This was the root cause of my airbag system to not be operating properly. 2. While diagnosing the airbag system, I was cautious about unpluggin the battery during any troubleshooting that I was performing. But, at the end of the diagnosis period and all modules/system were reconnected to electrical mating connectors I reconnected the battery and started the vehicle to cool the interior. The central airbag module which is located in center console was already electrically connected but not mounted. When the module was moved into position and the mounting points of the module touched chassis ground of the vehicle the side curtain airbags and front seat belt squibs deployed. It apperas to me that the ground of the module and the vehicle common wire are not internally connected. This apparently may cause a floating circuit in the airbag module that when chassis ground (exterior mounting surface of the module) has a potential change, the airbags may go off inadvertently. The concern here is that corrosion on older vehicles may cause this chassis ground to be compromised and cause random airbag deployments to occur. Vehicle was stationary. Bodily injury could have occurred if occupant was positioned differently.

22 Seat Belt problem of the 2020 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 06/21/2020

The rented 2020 tahoe was stationary. A passenger sitting in the left third row seat became stuck in the seat belt. She was unable to open the seatbelt clasp as it got stuck and failed to unlatch. The more the passenger struggled to unlatch the seatbelt, the progressively tighter it became. Passenger could not disengage the seatbelt clasp by pressing the tiny red button. Three other passengers tried to release the seatbelt and could not. Passenger was trapped with tight seat belt holding her in. Other passengers called emergency personnel who also could not release the ever tightening seat belt. Passenger was released when the ranger cut the seat belt with a seatbelt cutting emergency tool. It was a very scary and dangerous experience. Later, some of our guests figured out that you have to press the tiny red button on the left latch with a piece of the right buckle. A passenger should be able to release the seatbelt by depressing the red button. A passenger cannot even reach the button from the seated position as the button is tiny and cannot accommodate an adult finger to depress it. This is the worst example of engineering I have ever experienced. I am frankly amazed that this design passed any safety tests. Please address the issue before someone is hurt or killed by being trapped in the vehicle and unable to escape.

25 Seat Belt problem of the 2015 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 06/17/2019

Tail/brake lights failed causing a safety concern. Took vehicle in to GMC dealer for repair. Left tail light (actually the entire printed circuit board) was replaced, right is on back order. Vehicle out of factory warranty and even though we had an extended bumper to bumper warranty, the work was not covered. This is a frequent issue, I have discovered on line, according to many owners of GMC suvs and trucks between the 2015 and 2018 models. Cost of repair including both tail lights is 1617. 05. GMC supported me by covering 600. 00 of the cost so I paid 1017. 05 out of pocket for 2 tail lights that should not have failed. I have only 24554 miles on the vehicle and have never had an accident. Additional to that, the 2 front seat belts are fraying which may lead to weakness eventually causing a safety issue. I want GMC to cover all costs related to repair of these two problems. There should be a recall regarding both. Seat belt problem has been on going for months and the tail light thing just happened on Monday, June 17, 2019.

26 Seat Belt problem of the 2016 GMC Yukon

29 Seat Belt problem of the 2015 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 04/04/2018

The shoulder straps on the 2 outboard 2nd row seat belts are frayed. I took the vehicle to my GMC dealer today and he informed me that seat belts are only covered by the 36 month/36000 mile warranty, I was shocked to hear this. My vehicle has 57626 miles on it. I believe the design of the seat belt is faulty. What is obviously occurring is the seat belt buckle is rubbing against and through the shoulder strap when the belt is in the retracted position. I am concerned about the integrity of the belts, but I contend that GMC should be responsible to correct a faulty design. I highly doubt this condition is unique to my vehicle. I have attached 2 photos of the passenger side belt. The belt on the driver's side has the identical condition. Thank you.
