Front Seat Belt Retractor Problems of GMC Yukon

- the contact owns a 2003 Yukon denali. The contact complained about front passenger seat belt problem. The contact stated that the seat belt periodically got n stuck, and one had to unbuckle it and try again. This failure has been happening for at least a year. The failure occurred 50 times. The failure mileage and current mileage were both 10,0000.

The front passenger seat belt retractor locked up and would not release for more room. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

Passenger's seat belt would tighten down or lock up upon movement in seat while driving. Dealer notified, and informed consumer that was a normal operation. Feel free to provide any further information on this matter.

Front passenger's lap and shoulder belts were designed to hold a child safety seat, and would continually lock and pull tighter on passenger. This tightening of passenger restraints could result in restricted breathing, and severe discomfort. The dealer could not find anything wrong with the passenger seat belt.

Both rear power windows failed in up position. Drivers seatbelt would lock in retracted position if removed while driving and could not be pulled back out unless the vehicle was stopped and turned off.

The seat directly behind driver's seat will not lock when a child's restraint seat is used and the belt is pulled tight to get slack out to hold child's seat secure.

Initia function of passsenger seat belt inopertive. Once seat belt is latched the passenger is restrained in the upright position. Inordeer to move about in the compatment must release belt 9 unlatach. Safty issue may result if person unlatches at a time when an accident occurs. Attempted on similar vehicle ( passengaer side) with same results (malfunction. ) dealer has all but given up. I cannot accept something must be done to right the problem thank you r. B. Liccardo. Front passenger seat belt continually retracts while the vehicle is in motion pinning the passenger to the seat. To releave pressure passenger must unbuckle and reposition buckle. To compensate dealer installed an extension but still didn't correct problem and created a new one for passengers under 200lb. With extension buckle is in the middle of occupants abdomin along with the shoulder belt. Leaving only the lap belt to restrain passenger.

Vehicle was cut off by another vehicle. Had to apply brakes (abs) quickly, which failed to work. Vehicle then dove into concrete cover. Upon impact, the dual air bags failed to deploy. The seat belt jerked hard on driver, causing bruises. GMC file number 99-153-17801.
