1 Front Seat Belt Buckle Assembly problem of the 2001 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 04/15/2005

Dt: the contact owns a 2001 GMC Yukon xl. He states there was a recall for his vehicle on the seat belt retractors NHTSA campaign id number is 01v159000. The recall states that there could be a no lock condition but the consumer reported an incident where the seat belt would not come unlocked. This was the first time of any problem with the seat belts. The incident also happened without any type of warning. The buckle was free of dirt and other contaminants. The dealership stated that there was not a recall for this problem and that they were glad his daughter was okay. In April 2005 his daughter got stuck in the seat belt and they had to cut it to get her out. The seat belt was outboard left side second row of seating.

2 Front Seat Belt Buckle Assembly problem of the 2004 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 06/01/2004

Contact states while riding as a passenger in front or back when moving forward or the brakes are pressed the seat belt will lock and will not release. Until the seat belt is released the occupant moves trying to release the tension. This causes the tension to keep getting tighter. The only way to release the tension in the seatbelt is to unlatch the seat belt. The service dealer stated the seat belts were working properly. It continued to happen and the vehicle was taken back to the service dealer, they stated this was a design failure and there was nothing that could be do about it. The consumer has not contacted the manufacturer.

3 Front Seat Belt Buckle Assembly problem of the 1996 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 07/04/1997

Got in vehicle & buckle up; driving vehicle at 55 mph when front passenger's side seat belt unlatched for no reason; can hear a click when latching seat belt, but not when it unlatched on own; have not taken to dealer yet.
