36 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2012

Door lock remote fails to open locks. If I'm inside the car, sometimes the driver's door lock will be jammed down, and key will not open from outside. Nothing worked, I had to crawl over the console and exit by the passenger door. Definitely a safety issue, since it could happen in an emergency.

37 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2012

Radio makes popping sound and shuts off when ac is on and vehicle is in motion. System shuts down until it is turned back on problem is increasing with use. Radio has had turned off an on multiple times at different times of the day during the week. Radio is extremely hot on front face plate.

38 Electrical System problem

The contact owns a 2005 Honda Accord coupe. The contact stated that upon starting, the lights along the radio and air conditioner failed to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer stated that the electronic gauge module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 110,000 and the current mileage was 111,000.

39 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2012

My 2005 Accord had an illuminated supplemental restraint system (srs) light. The Honda dealer diagnosed it down to a broken driver seat sensor harness; fault codes 71-10 (drivers seat pos sensor) and a2-10 (faulty pwr supply). This condition is exactly the same as described in Honda service bulletin 07-002, "safety recall: driver's seat position sensor harness replacement. " just as described in the bulletin, the wires on the harness become damaged and in fact were completely broken away from the plug end. However, my VIN falls outside the affected VIN's listed in the service bulletin and is not covered under this action. Furthermore, I feel the dealer charged more than necessary for the repair: they charged 1. 96 hrs of labor (at $97. 00/hr), or $190. 00, and $15. 20 for the part totaling $205. 20. In comparison, the service bulletin calls for 0. 6 hrs of labor, which when added to the part cost would have totaled $73. 40. Bottom line: Honda did not provide the proper fix for damaged driver's seat position harness's in later production vins. Since they continue to cause the same unsafe condition, Honda must be compelled to increase the scope of this recall.

40 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2011

My 2005 Honda Accord lx v6 srs light illuminated at approx. 63000 miles. The Honda dealer diagnosed the problem to dtc 71-10 (broken driver seat sensor harness). Honda had a safety recall (service bulletin 07-002) regarding this problem in January 2007. My vehicle was not included in the recall. Out of pocket cost $203. 29. I have seen many other complaints lodged with the NHTSA on this matter. Why was this recall not expanded?.

41 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2011

At first, when putting the car into gear, there would be a delay before the vehicle actually accepted that gear--anywhere from 6-10 seconds, along with a grinding noise when I would go from drive to park. I immeduately called my dealer and took it over there and explained to them what had been happening. Given the mileage of my car, the manager of the service dept took the car out for a drive on the highway (with me), and tried to see if the gears were in fact slipping and I would need tranny work. After the test drive, it was decided that they would drain all the transmission fluid and replace it with new. This worked well for about 2 weeks, and then we had a big cold snap here in colorado. After that, it all went south. My car would no longer shift into 2nd or 3rd without a lot of noise. Called the dealer, and by the time we got it there, the car was barely moving at 40mph on a major highway. When I purchased this car three years ago, the odometer read 42,000 miles. Today it reads 67,000. Really? I have transmission failure at 67,000?????? thank goodness I have a highly competent service manager at the dealership who went to bat for me and called Honda directly. I received a "goodwill" repair, but am still forking over $1568 for a new transmission. Obviously, Honda has not fixed their transmission problems. I believe another recall needs to be issued sooner, rather than later.

42 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2011

Sudden acceleration of car. Pulling into a car bay, almost stationery. Accelerator appeared to be sucked away from under foot. Brakes applied, but car accelerated very fast over the kerb and into wooden bollards (hitting so hard it ripped them out of ground, and broke in two), the car felt like cruise control had kicked in. I did not "acidentally" hit the accelerator, and my floor mats are no where near the accelerator (they are hooked down). VIN mrhcm56405p060125.

43 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2011

2005 Honda Accord has fuel pump issues which are conistent with safety recall. Honda dealerships state my specific vehicle (by VIN#) is not included in the recall, and therefore will not make repairs related to the recall.

44 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2011

My car started having issues with the lights. The indoor and outdoor lights would continually fade out and then return and then fade again. Often I had no lights on my dash or radio. My windows stopped working automatically on the right side. We could not lower the window. The locks stopped working occasionally. All of this is something I had a problem with my other Honda as well. It was the same make model and year!! I thought it was just a fluke but when I got this car the same problems started.

47 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2010

Supplemental restraint system indicator light remains (intermittently) illuminated beyond the normal time after starting vehicle. The problem appears to be the same as described in other "complaints" published in NHTSA recall campaign id number 07v001000. According to local Honda dealership, this vehicle is not part of the recall group and does not qualify for cost free remediation by Honda.

48 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2010

Hello, I am very upset/concerned because I have an 2005 Honda Accord. I know multiple people with different years of an Accord along with one person with an 05. We are all having the same issue with our windows rolling up and down. I have been working on this issue sine 2010, and broke down and paid for the repair today. The main switch went out in the car. The main window works but the rest of the windows don't work. Why is this not considered a recall? several people are having the same issue. I don't feel like I should of paid for the repair today, however I had no choice. I think that this is something Honda needs to look into, also the factory stereos. My stereo went out a couple of weeks ago, I have only one person that experienced this problem, but I think it needs to be looked into.

49 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2010

Engine stalls while the car is moving, steering wheel blocks.

50 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2009

Starting at around 70k miles, the radio display backlight does not light up intermittently. Although the radio and controls work, it is impossible to view the time, radio volume, or station number without the assistance of an independent light source such as the overhead light. There has been a recall for this issue for the 2003-2004 model year. This recall should be extended to the 2005 model year as well because there is no major difference in audio unit design.

51 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/21/2008

The contact owns a 2005 Honda Accord. The contact had a 40,000 mile repair performed at the dealer. Four days later, the gauge control module shorted out internally. The dealer attempted to reprogram the module, but was unsuccessful. The module was sent out to paolo alto, CA to be reprogrammed. Once it was completed, the module was returned to the dealer for installation in the vehicle. A couple of months later, while driving at an unknown speed with the cruise control activated, it would not disengage when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was locked in the cruise control mode and it continued moving towards oncoming traffic. The contact lost control of the vehicle and crashed into two vehicles. The contact and another person were injured. The vehicle was destroyed. A police report was filed. The investigator stated that the instrument cluster module caused the crash. The failure mileage was 40,000.

52 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/06/2008

If you leave the radio on for more than 2 minutes with the car off, it refuses to start. Either must jump start or wait 10 minutes or so before the engine will start again. This has happened 4-5 times. After starting, everything is good until you happened to do this again.

53 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2007

Six changer cd player overheats. After 30 seconds of playing time , the panel turns extremely hot and cd error message flashes. When the cd is removed, it is extremely hot to the touch where it must be placed on the passenger seat. If more than one cd is in the six cd changer, the panel gets very hot and subsequently the panel display goes blank. The radio will not work until the unit has cooled. There is a potential danger for fire or other system failure. Clearly a safety hazard.

54 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2007

Our 2005 Honda Accord severely overheated while driving in extremely congested traffic on a nearly 100 degree day. The dealer, where the car has been serviced continuously since new, verified that there was no fuse for the cooling fan. There is no credible answer for this absence.

55 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/22/2007

My vehicle was parked in the parking lot of a grocery store. I was on my home from work and had stopped to purchase a few items. The engine was turned off. I had been in the store for about 10 minutes when I heard the loudspeaker asking for the owner of a 2005 gold Honda Accord to come to the customer service counter. When I approached the person behind the counter, he asked me to look outside to see if the vehicle on fire was, in fact, my car. Smoke was coming from the engine of my car and two vehicles from the fire department were trying to put out the fire. The car was totaled. Honda insisted it was my fault, but I found out much later that engine fires had occurred in other 2005 Accords. State farm gave me the replacement value for the vehicle, but it wasn't enough to purchase a car of equal value. The Honda Accord was still under warranty. I felt I should have been compensated for the entire cost of the car. Plus, if the fire had occurred while I was driving, I might not be here writing this letter to you. I was just recently made aware of some of the recalls from Honda for this exact problem. I believe Honda should take ownership of this problem and compensate me fairly for my loss. I have the VIN number and all of the paperwork from state farm, including photos of the damage to car taken after the fire.

56 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2006

: the contact stated that when the vehicle is started, there is a zapping noise coming from below the steering wheel, accompanied by a smell of burning plastic. The vehicle was taken to a service dealer where the dealer was unable to determine the problem.

57 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2006

: the contact stated during sudden, hard braking the vehicle pulled to the right. Then a few days later, during normal braking, the vehicle pulled to the left. The dealership was unable to determine a problem. Then while traveling 30 mph on a slushy downhill road the brake pedal was depressed and the brakes did not respond. The vehicle rear ended another vehicle. There was a police report taken at the scene. The driver received minor injuries. The vehicle was driven to the dealership, where repairs were made for property damage. The dealership was unable to determine the problem with the brakes. The vehicle was taken to another dealership and an independent repair shop, which was unable to determine the problem as well. There was a rough idle when coming to a stop. The headlights flicker at times. Updated 07/05/06.

58 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2005

Radio reception. We have the Accord with the satellite/radio combination with a cd player. The antenna is located in the rear window. The radio reception, in either am or fm is unacceptable. The local Honda garage has offered to replace the radio but insists that the problem is in the antenna design. The reception is terrible. Stations that are easily heard in other vehicles we own or have owned is simply much better. This is annoying at best. I would not have purchased this vehicle had I known the radio reception was so bad.

59 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/23/2005

The consumer's vehicle was struck by another vehicle while approaching a red light at 10 mph. The vehicle was struck on the left front passenger's side by the headlights and tire area. This was a minor accident. The consumer exchanged license and insurance information and got back into the vehicle. The consumer was planning to drive away. While on the cell phone a pedestrian waved alerting the consumer that the car was on fire. The left front headlight area had black smoke coming from where it had been previously struck. The smoke later turned into flames. The fire department came and put out the fire. The vehicle was towed to the dealership from where it was purchased. No explanation as to why this fire began. The fire department, the police department, the insurance company, and dealer could not offer an explanation at this time. An insurance investigator, fire inspector, and a representative from american Honda came to inspect the vehicle. No report was issued, but the consumer wished to file a compliant. 62 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2005

There are no any illuminating lights on for radio and a/c back lights when we turned on the head light. It was reported same issue for 2003 and 2004 Honda Accord, and Honda offer 7 years or 100,000 miles extend warranty. We are not sure how many this cases for 2005 Honda Accord. It is really a big flaw related our safety, but we did not know that at all when we bought it. Let me make it clear: our car is 2005 Accord lx has 53,000 miles on it, has been 8 years since we bought it. When head light is on, its radio and a/c back light is dark.
