For 2 yrs my 2008 Honda Accord would make a loud rumble at a cold startup. I took my car to a few mechanics including Honda and unfortunately the problem could not be detected. My car has 91,300 miles consumes excessive amounts of oil to a point of monthly oil changes. I received a recall notice and scheduled an appointment at staten island Honda service center on sat. Nov. 15. I was told that Honda would need to keep the vehicle for 2 days in order to fix the sticking piston recall and the air bag recall. I rescheduled for thur. Nov 19th 7:45 am so that I could get a rental car. I dropped my car off weds. Nov. 18th at 6:30 pm, so that I could go to work on time the next day and Honda accommodated me. However, I was told by the manager that I would not be getting the recalls repaired because I do not qualify for the air bag recall even though when I look up my VIN # on the Honda website it clearly states my car qualifies. I was also told that I would only be getting an oil change which I would have to pay for, they would need to monitor my car for 1,000 miles to see how much oil I consume. I explained that I had already consumed 60% in less than 4 weeks. I feel my vehicle is unsafe to drive my car rumbles on acceleration and jerks hesitantly while the oil light goes on spontaneously. I feel I am entitled to the recall repairs with no hesitance from the Honda service center.
The engine rattles at cold start-up. Since approximately September 1, 2015, the engine on my 2008 Honda Accord ex-l (4 cylinder) has created a loud rattle every time under cold start-up conditions. The noise goes away after approximately 2 seconds and the engine smooths out. I took the vehicle to a Honda dealer for another issue in January 2016 and asked them to investigate the cold start-up noise, but they claimed that the noise did not occur when they started the vehicle. I questioned whether they tried to start it under cold engine conditions and they said they had. I recently took the vehicle to an independent service center and they were able to hear the rattle at cold start-up and suggested that the problem might be caused by a defective variable valve timing control (vtc) actuator. Honda issued a technical service bulletin (09-010) but I have not been able to get a Honda dealer to address the issue.
At about 68,000 miles, I began hearing a disturbing mechanical rattle on cold starts. It got worse and worse until a recent trip to my Honda dealer confirmed I have the vtc (?) valve rattle problem, and it is "currently under review by Honda. " from my research on Honda owners forums, this affects a large number of models from 2008 on, and has been a known issue for several years now. I was told this issue does not affect engine performance or longevity, but it is disconcerting to have sounds like this emanating from my engine every day (it now happens every time I start the car). A call to Honda confirmed Honda knows about the problem, but they are "still working on a solution" (I don't know for how many years now). And no, they won't do anything for me, no compensation or even a fix I could possibly pay for. I would like to get rid of the car before something else happens, but no buyer will pay market value for it with this condition. I am also worried about safety because this issue could cause an engine seizure while driving. The problem keeps getting worse and I no longer trust Honda is telling the truth.
Oil low at oil change.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda Accord. While driving, the vehicle would not accelerate properly. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact also indicated that the vtc actuator was faulty and caused the vehicle not to start occasionally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the actuator was replaced, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 38,000.
My car was leaking fluid which I was unaware. My starter went out and the dealer said that the power steering fluid was leaking so bad if I did not repair it there could be an engine fire as well as damage to the alternator. He had to replace the entire power steering pump because he said that the leak was too bad to just replace the o ring and hose. I brought my car to moss motors in lafayette, louisiana for the repair. I believe that since I only had 70,000 miles on my car that this power steering system is an obvious defect and safety hazard.
Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving about 40 mph, the contact saw smoked from underneath the hood without warning. The vehicle was pulled to a parking lot, where an independent mechanic lifted the hood and stated that the alternator was smoking. The vehicle was towed to the moss motors dealer (337-235-9086, located at 1407 la 728-8, lafayette, la 70501) where the technician diagnosed and replaced the alternator. The contact stated that prior to that failure, the same dealer replaced the steering pump and the starter in 2015 when the steering pump leaked and destroyed the starter. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered a forty percent discount on the cost of the repairs. The failure mileage was approximately 77,000. Fe.
Tl the contact owns a 2008 Honda Accord. While driving 45 mph, the engine seized and the check engine and service indicators illuminated. The contact was able to drive the vehicle, but it would not accelerate over 15 mph. The vehicle was taken to bianchi Honda (8430 peach st, erie, PA 16509, (814) 868-9678) where it was diagnosed that the engine piston rings needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 121,000.
I purchased this vehicle in February 2015 and the issues which I have face are: poor(worn) struts, axle(output shaft) seal leak, vtc actuator which the dealer does not want to honor the warranty defect, and poor motor mounts. In addition, the struts caused one of the tires to pop due to a bump on the tire, and the passenger front tire had to be replaced because of the bump on the tire which again is due to the struts being bad.
Engine uses two to three quarts of oil between oil changes. The problem started around 60,000 miles. The check oil light does not come on. The engine will knock when starting when the oil is low.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda Accord. The contact stated that her vehicle consumed an excessive amount of oil. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 115,000. The current mileage was 152,000.
Dear sir/madam, we have been complaining to Honda motors about noise coming up first time when we start car in a day. The cranking noise is so loud that my wife and kids are worried about the car situation and feel very unsafe. The noise generally occur when we start car first time in the morning. We contacted Honda motors last year and they recommended us to take it to dealership. We went to two dealership and they could not find any issue when they start car first thing in morning. This is very unusual as we have been hearing noise every single morning since than when we start car first time. We do not know how to resolve this issue? with some google search I found out that failure of vtc is causing similar issue to 2008 Honda Accord models. Can you please guide us how to resolve this matter? we are worried about overall situation with our car for last one year. Appreciate your assistance. Thanks/nirav desai.
I purchased this car last year and it had over 150000, as I checked the oil I noticed it was low I have added 1 qt in between every oil change. My second problem was durning the winter on the real cold days the starter sounded likt it was hanging up as described as the vtc actuator. My third problem is the warning light on the dash for the air bag has alluminated. I contacted Honda today and they told me the light only comes on after it has been to the body shop? also I have received a claim form for a reimbursable deployment prior to Feb 13 2014. I have not been in a accident and neither has the car. So if there is a claim for the air bag deployment why isnt there a recall for the air bag?.
Summary: there was a premature failure of the srs module in my 2008 Honda Accord which, According to a local Honda representative, renders the airbags useless in a crash or can cause premature deployment. The airbag light was on as well as the engine light which the dealership mentioned they were both related. Charging a diagnostics fee when I had already performed the diagnostics through work and associated partnerships (fleet management provider and maintenance vendors). I had to pay out of pocket close to $640 for parts and labor. Seems silly as this was a safety related service. My engine light was on about 4 months ago and they said the light was on due to my cadallic convertor, so they replaced and now the engine light is back on and this is due to airbag issue.
My car rattles severely every time I drive it. I'm so afraid to drive my car because I feel unsafe. The vtc actuator is a problem that all 2008 Honda Accords have and costs so much money to not fix the problem. This issue is needs to be recalled. It can cause major car failure. I'm a hard working student that can't afford to keep paying for the car to be worked on with no solution. This is a huge problem.
Engine clicks when starting, especially when cold. It sounds like oil is not getting to the engine. I believe it may be related to the vtc actuator.
2008 Honda Accord vtc actuator has gone bad now twice and each time I have paid out $700 +. This is all within a 12 month period. So in order to drive my car I have to pay an additional 700 a year on a newer car?.
For the 2nd time since 2008, I've had to replace the sparkplugs due to pcm issues. The engine light will come on and gives an error code of p0303. Unfortunately you can only go to Honda to have the computer updated, and they will try to sell additional services. Today they refused to update my computer stating the only way to fix was to replace all the sparkplugs despite the service bulletin stating otherwise. Despite this being a manufacturer issue Honda has forced car owners to pay for this repair with no true fix existing.
This was the second time my car accelerated for no reasons while I was driving. The first time I was only driving 35 miles an hour and no one was in front of me. The second time the car accelerated as I was stopping at a red light. I barely missed a car by one foot. Both times I went to the Honda dealership in sanford. Long story short. . . No one knows how to fix it. I am extremely upset over the idea that there are all car owners with these electronic systems that don't work. The second time my three year grandson was in the back seat. The dealership said the electronic system sent a message that designated that there was an acceleration or malfunction. Anyway I am sending this because I wanted my car fixed and because it is a paper trail if someone gets killed in this car. I will no longer own a Honda. This was my second Honda and until this I was very satisfied. I now have a car paid for that I cannot drive. I do want the public to be aware of this problem. Martha l. Rhodes mrhodes@harnett. K12. Nc. Us 919-895-0501 I dont have the VIN number. My car is parted outside the dealership in sanford, n. C. Waiting for me to pick it back up.
Excessive oil needed between oil changes. Oil indicator light does not indicate low oil.
Back in August I took my car to southeastern Honda dealer like I routinely do to have my oil changed. It was suggested by service rep to change my transmission fluid, which I did. On my way home from work one night my engine light started flashing and my car was driving like it is going to shut off. I took my car to the dealer and they hooked it up to a machine and said it was 2 of my spark plugs, it's a common problem with the Accords v6 so it's best to change all of plugs which I agreed too and this will solve the problem. On 2/7/13 I took my car to southeastern Honda for my routine oil change and again the service rep suggested my power steering fluid and brake fluid needed to be changed which I agreed too. On my way home the vsa, brake light and abs light came on in the car. As so as I was able to I took it back to southeastern Honda, the same service rep said they hook it up and it was the spark plugs which was change back in August and it should not be occurring because all the plugs were changed and it's a defect in the engine. He will speak with the good will Honda person because the car needs an engine. He called back a couple of days later and say it's the engine and I will be required to pay half for the engine. I left my car at the dealer for a week, paid a few dollars short of $3000. 00 dollars and my engine vsa, brake and abs lights is still coming on. I googled this problem and alot of the Hondas have this problem. I will like to know what is the status of this problem.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the vehicle seized. The contact pulled over and added oil to the vehicle. The vehicle was restarted and continued to operate normally. The vehicle was taken for a software update. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 46,000 and the current mileage 58,000.
Subject: sudden unintended acceleration at about 9:25 pm, on Wednesday January 23, 2013 I was parked in the north parking lot of the vienna metro station, in fairfax, virginia, awaiting arrival of my wife. I had parked in the first parking space, across from the waiting area in front of the metro station entrance. When I saw my wife emerge from the entrance of the metro station, I started my car and shifted to drive. The engine suddenly revved up and the car lunged forward, accelerating at high speed and out of control. I remember reacting by applying the brakes with all my might and engaging the hand brake without much effect. The car lunged forward about 100 feet and hit a concrete barrier which smashed the front and engine and totaled the vehicle. Luckily there were no other cars or pedestrians in the vicinity otherwise there would have been more severe consequences. When I regained consciousness, I had been transported to the fairfax hospital and had suffered severe trauma to the neck, throat, larynx and mouth area and was bleeding from a cut on the chin. Two days of intense examination at the hospital and several follow-up medical exams found no evidence of any physical or medical condition that could have possibly contributed to the accident. It must be noted that I did not receive any citation for the accident from the fairfax police.
When driving the vehicle (2008 Accord) in morning, I noticed a small rattle on inclines. Later there was a rattle when starting the car that has gotten progressively worse. I am hearing it constantly now and very loud.
Car cut off while in store for five minutes was told that if yu leave keys in ignition while off it drains the battery. No car in my life that ever happened after leaving the radio in the car on and drained the battery. Had a problem within 3 months of buying a 2008 Honda. Car cut off and wouldn't start. And it did it again last night took it in before and the first time I took it in battery was fine and they check the battery today and they said it was no good but it happened a total of 4 times and there was a recall on the car and it happened to other people and which shouldn't happened cut off last night and no key in the ignition and battery died. Spoke to ron store manager and spoke to service manager and refuse to change the battery. All they did was charge up battery. Cause they wanted me to purchase a battery for 159. 00 which there is a problem. Because there was a problem few months after I bought the car. And brought in for same thing now less than a year. Honda told me that if you leave key in car that the car still is drawing power even though key is off. I kid you not my mom was in the car for five mins and battery died. Honda of roanoke rapids don't care about customer service and doing what is right to satisfy the customer. Battery was going bad before. I will never buy a car again from them. And I have the power train warrenty and american Honda forced me to get it and wont cover squat. I was forced to take it by american Honda or else they would approve my loan. This was Honda of roanoke rapids.
I bought this car pre owned at 15k the back brake went out on this car after 1year at 24k I replace brake myself I was curious why would a back brake wear out so fast on doing online lookup I found numerous owners had the same problem so I called Honda regional office and I given a refund for the expense. Now last year June I notice cold rattle start on my engine and now is progressively getting louder. I did a look up online and my mechanice said it vtc ( variable timing control ) actuator was found to be defective. I think Honda should replace this since my car now has 80k miles I might be out of warranty.
Low oil pressure light came on for a couple of seconds. After a week of driving and still getting the low pressure light from time to time went to change the oil and the guy told me that there was almost no oil in the engine. Since than I have to add a quart of oil for every 750 miles driven. That was since 2012. . . Now I end up pouring 4 to 5 quarts between oil changes (6000 miles full synthetic oil).
I bought a new 2008 Honda Accord exl-6 vehicle. I have 72,000 miles on it, mostly highway driving. I've had my rear brakes replaced twice. The dealer tried to tell me 30,000 is average for brakes. Also had all my spark plugs replaced. # 3 went bad and they suggested I replace all of them. Again, telling me 70,000 miles is average for spark plug replacement. I was charged full price for all work done, I've even paid for the extended warranty and that didn't cover the spark plugs either. I wouldn't even take my car to the Honda dealer but since I foolishly paid for the extended warranty, I'm afraid that will become null and void if any other mechanic touches my car for any reason. First and last Honda I will ever purchase. I'd like to know if there is anyway I can find out if I'm entitled to a refund for brakes & spark plugs. Just spent almost $600 having the two replaced.
Over the course of 3000 miles I had to add an additional 5 quarts of oil and while driving the headlights dim intermittently.
Excessive need for oil, between oil changes. Oil indicator does not show that vehicle is low on oil, but vehicle starts to run with problems, if oil not replaced.
2008 Honda Accord issues, spark plugs, battery light, and traction light indicator turn on and engine pulsates and stutters, door lock actuator fail before 50k in both driver door and rear driver side. Brake rotors are worn down very easily and rear pad wear down faster than front with uneven wear.
Dealer replaced vtc actuator at 35000 miles now at 90000 miles and same rattle from vtc actuator.
General concerns. However I am concerned about the airbag, engine and brakes problem especially. Honda has not made us aware of any problems with this vehicle. Thankfully we have only had premature replacement of brakes. We are aware of consumer complaints only because we are concerned about our product which we assume to be safe and reliable . You can rely on our qualitymaintenance program, we have been alerted by mail of a pending suit we cannot benefit from class action because we have no incident to report. Honda corporate and dealers owe us consumers true and fair information and timely communications . GMC had to kill people before they were found to be irresponsible. Consider this a complaint about brakes, failure to take responsibility, failure to notify, regarding other possible problems especially airbags.
Small road debris can enter the engine compartment of a 2008 Honda Accord through a very wide air dam in the nose of the vehicle and puncture the air conditioning condenser. Sudden loss of pressure in the condenser causes vapor to be emitted from the hvac ducts inside the car causing driver distraction. This is a dangerous condition at highway speeds. Honda repaired the vehicle at owner cost buy does nothing to prevent the problem from recurring.
