I bought this Accord used with 95,000 miles on it. When I went to change the oil after 3000 miles, it was very, very low on oil. I might have taken two quarts out, maybe less. I started watching the oil consumption, which has gotten worse. I now add about 1. 5 quarts every 1000 miles. It emits no blue smoke from the exhaust and has no oil leaks. It's getting worse. After owning a very reliable 2005 civic, this car has been a complete disappointment. My Honda dealer won't even return my call (I've called them 18 times) and when I go in person, they tell me they will have to consult with the manufacturer's specialist, who only stops in the dealership every 2 weeks. I've going in person to ask about this 4 times. Honda has offered a horrible customer service experience thus far.
Around December 20th, 2012 I started to notice a decline in mileage with my oil changes. It has only gotten worse from there. The car burns up so much oil at this point so quickly, I would say that at about every 1000 to 2000 miles I am putting 4qts more of oil into my engine because it has all burned up. I have also notice that my oil light never comes on during this time. The only way I know that I have no oil in my car is by checking it myself and/or when I start to hear the cylinders grind. I took my car into Honda and asked them why my oil was getting burned up so quickly and they fed me a line of nonsense and told me it was because we sit in traffic so much. They basically were trying to get rid of me and tell me it was normal. After that experience I went to a jiffy lube a month later to get my oil checked again and when I brought it in they said that there was nothing in my engine that I had no oil in my car whatsoever. Honda refuses to acknowledge that there is a problem with my car. Even with the excessive oil use. Another problem I had is with the vtc actuator and I am starting to wonder if the two are intertwined.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to dealer for inspection who stated that a spark plug was misfiring and needed to be replaced. In addition, there was a computer failure that caused the vehicle to burn more oil than normal. The dealer replaced the spark plug and updated the computer. The manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 34,794.
I purchased my certified pre-owned Honda Accord 2008 4cy from fischer Honda with close 52,000 miles. I have noticed that the car's oil empties out before I am due for my regular oil changes. The car begins to make strange noises. I have mentioned this to two dealers and they don't know what is exactly going on. One dealer told me that I probably put bad gasoline in my car. Upon further investigation, I have noticed that a lot of Honda Accord 2008 owners are having this same issue and Honda is not really doing anything to solve this issue. They are currently doing an oil consumption test on my car.
Excessive oil consumption 1 quart every 1000 miles was told vibration was heat shield. In reality vibration was due to low oil in engine. Oil was changed by dealership m by jiffy lube every 3000 to 5000 miles. Now being told engine needs to be replaced or just keep adding oil till engine fails.

I check my oil on a regular basis. My engine was not shifting as normal and stopped to check the oil level and after 2000 from my last oil change I had lost over 2 quarts of oil. I called my Honda service department at jay Honda where I bought my car and they said this was normal for my car and that there is nothing to worry about. I looked for leaks on the pavement around my car and there was none. The engine showed no signs of burning oil of any kind. The service department said this was normal for this car and that there was nothing at all that they could do.
I bought my 2008 Accord used with 32k on it. Honda had a great record with reliability and quality in the past so this car, I figured, would be no different. After about a month of ownership, I noticed the oil was low. I checked the oil when I bought the car and it was full, and it was now down about a half a quart. I took my car to the Honda dealership and told them about the oil consumption. They topped me off, and put me on an oil consumption test. Interestingly enough, there was an oil consumption recall on my car about a month later. The dealership updated the software to prevent oil consumption and I was sent on my way. About a month later, my car was still consuming oil at about a quart per 2290miles. That was the official Honda tally at the end of my oil consumption test. I contacted Honda through written letter and phone call saying that their recall/software update did not work and that my car was still consuming oil. American Honda was unable to provide me with any documentation about what acceptable oil consumption on a car was, but in their words it was 1qt/1000 miles. No where in the bill of sale or owners manual does it say the owner will have to add oil during regular driving to keep the oil at acceptable levels. Talking with both american Honda and dealerships as well, they refuse to fix the problem and they are unable to provide any proof that consuming oil at this rate will not harm the car. I am currently adding about 1qt/1500miles to keep my car from running out of oil, and under the 5year 60k warranty, Honda still has not fixed the problem. I have all of my receipts of repairs and routine maintenance from the dealership along with dated phone conversations to Honda reps including case numbers. People need to know Honda's malicious and greedy intent not to honor its warranty and fix its cars. Mine still has yet to be fixed.
1. Excessive oil consumption. 2. Rear breaks require pads changed after every 15k -17k ml of driving 3. Battery failed after 1 1/2 of service, about 20k mi.
Honda recall. My car for some reason was covered under the power transmission recall even though my car is experiencing the same problem and codes other 2008 Honda Accord were the same year. My oil is going faster then I can put it in. It doesn't last a whole month. I have no oil leaks in my car at all what so ever. Its damaging my engine because I had no clue it was burning the oil that fast. It's not fair they only cover some 2008 Honda Accord. When they already were sued because if it.
