3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2024

Very, very common issue on 8th generation and 9th generation Honda Accords (as well as other Honda models from this era). Abs modules throw solenoid codes (usually consisting of vsa, abs, traction control, and parking brake lights on the gauge cluster). Sure, the vehicle's abs may still operate, however this is still a problem and generally not safe. My 2008 Accord ex-l v6 w/ nav recently had this problem and I have resolved it by swapping over a used part. Honda wants to charge $2500 on average for both the part and labor. What the problem is, is that the circuit board in these modules have been using the wrong gauge of wire According to many mechanics. According to my mechanic, this thing can be triggered with something as simple as an automated car wash. Honda generally makes great, mostly reliable vehicles that are fun to drive. It's a shame that these modules have not been engineered correctly. I hope that the NHTSA can take initiative and force Honda to do a recall on these aisin modules and fit the cars with better engineered ones. Brakes are an absolute necessity in cars and it is imperative to have a reliable abs system. Again, this is a widespread issue and hopefully can be resolved by the NHTSA, working with Honda. Thank you.

I own 2 Honda's an Accord and a pilot it is insane the visa modulator went bad on both them. A 1500+ part that also is associated with the abs and emerg brake. I have 2 relative who also have this problem. The more research I do the more this seems to be a faulty part issue. How is everyone e having this issue? very unhappy with the cost of this and being forced to utilize a dealership for this fix only. As Honda does not allow any other mechanic to fix or reset this code. 121-01. &. 121-21.

Failure Date: 03/21/2016

"takata recall" Honda USA does not honor the NHTSA 16v-056 (corrosion of the ecu unit) air bag recall. They said they would send a remedy letter in the fall of 2016. Never received the letter, and closed their recall campaign. They will not replace the ecu unit unless it's corroded to a point where a warning light comes on. The whole point of the NHTSA 16v-056 recall is to replace the ecu unit, so no corrosion will occur in the future. Honda USA refuses to replace the ecu unit. They bully their dealers not to replace it too. I have never encountered a business that is this deceiving in my life. I' m stuck without any pull or power to have them liable for this issue. Please ,I beg you , please help me NHTSA! there was a litigation that was settled in the past regarding premature wear on the rear brakes. They just replaced one set of rear brakes per litigation, but the actual defect was never addressed and never fixed. The defect is in their braking system . I'm still driving with defective braking, with extremely high anxiety. Honda USA deceived NHTSA and the customers again. Seats are so uncomfortable , it detracts attention away from driving safely on the road.

16 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2015

2008 Honda Accord. Consumer writes in regards to brake , engine, electrical, air bag light, seat belt, light problems and radio problems. 17 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2015

It happened twice, both times I had tried to come to a complete stop and the car would suddenly start to accelerator, wouldn't stop right away, this could become very dangerous.

18 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/10/2014

I have noticed on 5 different occasions that when I apply the brake the accelerator is also activated. When I remove my foot completely off the brake and apply pressure to the brake pedal again it corrects itself. At first I thought it was caused by wearing my big snow boots and I was actually pressing both pedals at the same time. This is not the case as it has happened several times since then. I haven't taken my car in to the dealership yet because I know they won't be able to make it happen again for them. It happens at random times.

19 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2014

Despite the recall a few years ago, Honda still ignores the problem of rear brakes that wear out rapidly and therefore require frequent replacement. At just over 91,000 miles, I now have to schedule my 3rd rear brake replacement and it will be the second time that I must replace the rear rotors. Honda refuses to acknowledge that their rear brakes are flawed and seem to not feel obligated to correct them. They also do not feel as though they should offer any financial assistance for the replacement of their substandard rear brakes. We are therefore forced into high rear brake and rotor replacement bills. Perhaps it was their plan all along to bilk unsuspecting customers. This is a serious safety issue that Honda needs to remedy immediately.

20 Service Brakes problem

Bolt fell off front brake at dealer. Dealer repaired brakes free.

21 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/10/2013

Bolt from front brakes fell off at dealer while driving up to inspect brakes. Dealer repaired brakes free.

22 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2013

This was the second time my car accelerated for no reasons while I was driving. The first time I was only driving 35 miles an hour and no one was in front of me. The second time the car accelerated as I was stopping at a red light. I barely missed a car by one foot. Both times I went to the Honda dealership in sanford. Long story short. . . No one knows how to fix it. I am extremely upset over the idea that there are all car owners with these electronic systems that don't work. The second time my three year grandson was in the back seat. The dealership said the electronic system sent a message that designated that there was an acceleration or malfunction. Anyway I am sending this because I wanted my car fixed and because it is a paper trail if someone gets killed in this car. I will no longer own a Honda. This was my second Honda and until this I was very satisfied. I now have a car paid for that I cannot drive. I do want the public to be aware of this problem. Martha l. Rhodes mrhodes@harnett. K12. Nc. Us 919-895-0501 I dont have the VIN number. My car is parted outside the dealership in sanford, n. C. Waiting for me to pick it back up.

25 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/14/2012

I bought this car pre owned at 15k the back brake went out on this car after 1year at 24k I replace brake myself I was curious why would a back brake wear out so fast on doing online lookup I found numerous owners had the same problem so I called Honda regional office and I given a refund for the expense. Now last year June I notice cold rattle start on my engine and now is progressively getting louder. I did a look up online and my mechanice said it vtc ( variable timing control ) actuator was found to be defective. I think Honda should replace this since my car now has 80k miles I might be out of warranty.

26 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2012

The contact owns a 2008 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while having routine maintenance performed on the vehicle, he was advised that the rear brake drums were defective. The dealer stated that the drums were wearing prematurely and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. 27 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2012

2008 Honda Accord According to repair records has had the front brakes repaired twice since I bought the car 7 months ago. Being told all 4 rotors are warped but it is not a safety issue. I only noticed it because of the excessive shimmering and shaking when I applied the brakes. The fix was to refinish the rotors, but at some point this option will no longer be able because of the specs of the rotor so then I will be forced into replacing them at an approximate cost of $150 a rotor. How is it possible that any part of a system designed to stop your vehicle is not a safety issue.

28 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2012

I bought a new 2008 Honda Accord exl-6 vehicle. I have 72,000 miles on it, mostly highway driving. I've had my rear brakes replaced twice. The dealer tried to tell me 30,000 is average for brakes. Also had all my spark plugs replaced. # 3 went bad and they suggested I replace all of them. Again, telling me 70,000 miles is average for spark plug replacement. I was charged full price for all work done, I've even paid for the extended warranty and that didn't cover the spark plugs either. I wouldn't even take my car to the Honda dealer but since I foolishly paid for the extended warranty, I'm afraid that will become null and void if any other mechanic touches my car for any reason. First and last Honda I will ever purchase. I'd like to know if there is anyway I can find out if I'm entitled to a refund for brakes & spark plugs. Just spent almost $600 having the two replaced.

29 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/30/2012

The contact owns a 2008 Honda Accord. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for routine service when he was told that the rear brakes needed to be replaced. The failure and the current mileages were 18,000.

The rear brakes wear out permaturely and need to be replaced every 8,000 to 10,000 miles. This is a safety issue.

32 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2011

It appears that the 2008 Honda Accord was equipped with defective/wrong fitting rear brakes. My Accord was no exception. When your rear brakes are worn out at 15000 miles and they go before the front ones do, something is definitely wrong. Honda will not accept any type of responsibilty. I only hope/pray that no one is injured or killed because of their defective product.

33 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2011

08 Honda Accord ex l 4 cyl brakes continuously have issues with wearing unevenly. The issue seems to be more prevalent in the rear. The last time I had the brakes checked and "fixed" I had to take the car to the dealership 3 times because they could not seem to correct the issue with vibration of the car when the brakes were applied. Even after 3rd time going to the dealership there was still a slight vibration when the brakes were applied. When I spoke with the service manager about the issues with the brakes, I was told that it was known issue, but there was nothing more they could do to fix the problem.

34 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2011

The contact owns a 2008 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the brakes would squeal and the vehicle would vibrate abnormally whenever the brakes were applied. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and the contact was informed that there were no failures within the braking system. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 35,000.
