37 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2010

Brakes were squeaking within the first six months but we were told nothing was wrong when taken in for regular warranty-covered checks. Started noticeable shimming when brakes were applied and took in for check at 39,000 miles. Ended up replacing rotors, brakes and rear bearing. The rear bearing alone cost $198. All in all, our bill came to $667. 73. We've taken the car in to the dealer for repair of carpet pulling away in front passenger side; vibration noise on back dashboard (or whatever you'd call the shelf behind passenger seats); driver door handle stick problem, steering wheel clicking noise. Purchased Honda after being recommended by so many satisfied customers/friends. Invested more then we planned but thought it was worth the investment; disappointed in quality of parts and repair work.

39 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2010

I own a 2009 ex Honda Accord. Took car to get normal maintenance at 14,000 miles to my Honda dealership when they told me that my back brakes were almost worn down to needing replaced. A couple months later I took my car in for a normal maintenance at 21000 miles and said my back brakes needed replaced. Now I am stuck paying $250 for back brakes on a year and ahalf old Accord. Even though Honda will give me up to $150 back. I think that they should recall the vehicle and pay for the full price. Also this is a safety issue if people don't know if there brakes are bad!!! very disappointed in Honda and may not buy Honda vehicles anymore!!!.

I purchased a 2009 Honda Accord on October 27th, 2010 at 227 miles. I have not had an issues until this month when my brakes began to ware prematurely at only 11k miles. I had revived a class action letter informing me of this but see it as a clear safety violation on Honda's part one as they had know there was an issue with this type of model and two as they refuse to perform work and replace the item with issues under warranty. I find it irresponsible that Honda is making me pay for repairs when they know its there design flaw.

I reported the problem to my dealer and they said it would just need to break in. 1 year, 14000 miles, and 3 complaints later it was still making the noise. I found a service bulletin number online and mentioned this to my dealer who finally replaced the front brakes and retooled the rotors. I am reading of many premature failures of the rear brakes on 2008-09 Accords also. I feel this should be looked into by the government.

I believe this is a major design flaw which should be covered in a recall, especially after seeing so many other complaints on the same issue.

69 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2009

Rear brakes are shot. Went in for routine oil change, fluids topped, tires rotated, and everything looked at. I did a web search and found it's not only me.

70 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2009

Routine maintenance at dealership and was told the car needed rear brakes. The car is new and has only 16,000 miles on it. I got an outside mechanic's opinion and was told the car does need rear brakes, however, in his opinion this should be warranty work. He said rear brakes should not need to be replaced this soon. Now I see from the complaints on this site, I am not alone. 2008 and 2009 Accords have a problem and there should be a recall. Nhtsa, please do something.
