The contact owns a 2009 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the passenger side air bag deployed without warning. Due to the failure, the contact temporarily lost control of the vehicle and veered of to the side of the road which caused damage to the right side of the road. A police report was filed and the contact was given a case number. The passenger in the vehicle suffered a scrape to their knee but did not seek medical treatment. Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to his residence. A mechanic came to the contact's home where he informed him that there were prior recalls on the vehicle for the air bag and linked the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 19v502000(air bags). There are currently zero recalls on the vehicle. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
I had stopped at the end of a private road and the car was in park and the engine was running. I was sitting in the driver's seat and adult grandson was sitting in the front passenger seat. He got out of the car and shut the front passenger side door hard. The front and rear passenger side air bags deployed. As well as the side airbag from the front passenger seat.
The drivers side air bag and side curtain and passengers front air bag deployed as my son was driving in a parking lot where he works. Thank god he works at a hospital. I thought Hondas was safe but have my doubts now? it's seems like no one wants to help other than our insurance. He said he was maybe going about 10 miles an hour.
Takata recall - unreasonable time since notification for parts still not to be available to replace defected airbag(s). No matter whether I've had an incident I care for my uncle and can not take him places in my vehicle until your company deems it necessary to spend the money to fix its mistake. Please find an immediate solution or provide a loner car. And, I find it highly unlikely that the problem is only in the passenger airbag and not the driver or side airbags. Your notification did not provide enough explanation or peace of mind. You have lost a 4x Honda customer on a future car purchase and I'm sure many others due to your poor performance of this issue.
Tl- the contact owned a 2009 Honda Accord. The contact called on behalf of the driver whom was driving at an unknown speed while intoxicated, the vehicle skidded off the roadway. The contact stated that the driver side air bag deployed but the passenger side air bag failed to fully inflate. The driver sustained a broken foot that required medical attention, while the contact's daughter who was the front seat passenger passed away. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot where it was destroyed. The vehicle was not inspected by a dealer or independent mechanic to determine the passenger side air bag failure. The manufacturer was not contacted and made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000. Aw.
Takata recall, I've been waiting 5-6 months for the dealer to fix the passenger side air bag. They've not received a replacement part yet. I can't drive my car with a front seat passenger safely. Will Honda pay for a rental car? appreciate any help with this mess. . . Thanks.
About a year ago when I arrived back home, my boyfriend (the driver) put the car in park, got out of my car on the passenger side, the car was still running, I closed the door, and boom! all of the passenger side air bags deployed. My kids were in the back seat immediately frightened. They did not inflate, they only dropped. I contacted american Honda, opened a claim, brought my car to a local dealer, and of course I was told that it was my fault. They are blaming the deployment on an accident that a previous owner had got into many years ago. After leaving the dealership, I tried contacting american Honda again to get further explanation and another inspection I never received a call back.
Dashboard illustrates and indicates "side airbag" is turned off, randomly. This happens frequently(once a week), while nothing is blocking or conflicting with it's normal operation. In the event of a side collision, I'm deeply concerned this could be an electrical issue or faulty sensors for which will not allow the air bag to work properly. . Or worse. . . Not at all.
I noticed that the passenger side airbag sensor came on intermittently when someone was in the front passenger seat. I took it in to be checked at Honda of the avenues in jacksonville, FL. But they informed me that this was a normal action designed to shut off the airbag when persons lean in the path of the side airbag. I let them know that I wanted to have this checked, which they told me it was. Fast forward to oct 2014 I heard of the airbag passenger problem and checked my VIN. I was not included in the recall but because of my original concern I called front range Honda in colorado springs (we moved) and they ran a check of my system on 10/30/2014. Fortunately they found and replaced the faulty passenger seat rail sensors when they showed as major failure! thank goodness I never had an accident to test the passenger sensor's! please let me know if others have complained of the same failure and hopefully this will lead to a recall to prevent someone from finding out the hard way.
