Basically, my complaint is that I don't feel that my starter should have to be replaced at 36,000 miles. . . I have only had the car for 9 months. . I also had to replace the front pads and rotors too. . Basically totalling $640. In parts and 360. In labor. . I bought it directly from the dealership. . It has the push button start and it put out a grinding sound when I went to start it, then the front bakes started squeaking also. .
2013 Honda Accord v6exl starter makes grinding noise when being started. Sometimes takes multiple trys to finally turn over and start engine. Brought to dealership but they said they could not replicate the issue. Only offered to replace entire starter system for $900.
After working a late shift at her job, my wife went to drive home only to have the car fail to start. At 11pm, she was left stranded in an empty parking lot until I could reach her (45 minutes from our home). The car's starter had failed. A google search shows that this is a common and well-documented flaw with the 2013 Accord. Called the local dealer and they insist that they have no reports of known starter issues. Repair cost is over $300 ($200 for part plus labor costs). Reached out to Honda corporate, no response.
Starter button fails to start engine,50% of the time, even with brake fully depressed.
2-3 months ago, at approx 72,000 miles, the starter would not work on occasion. Independent diagnostic suggested issue with alternator (replaced) and battery (replaced). Issue continued. Now we have not been able to start the car for days. A test of the starter shows nothing wrong. Then fcw system failed while trying to start the car, cleared and failed again. Pushing starter button results in all lights and power coming on, but no start of the car. When power is off and door open, there is a warning signal similar to when lights are left on, but lights are off. Seems the starter problem is common, but the recommended fixes are not working. Repeatedly replacing parts does not resolve the issue. I was 150 miles from home before the last start. When the car started after several attempts, I immediately drove home. I can't risk being stranded.
After my 100,000 maintenance in September 2020, my Honda Accord began having problems starting. Since then, I have replaced the battery, the alternator and starter. When I start the car for the first time of the day, it starts. After parking the car after I have gone some place, the car will not start. Then, I have to keep pressing the electrical start button until the car starts. So far, at times, it takes about 5 to 10 minutes to re-start the car. I reported the situation to Honda USA on 02/01/2021 and they said there are no recalls on this vehicle so they cannot help me. However, Honda USA did start a case for me. My wife and I do not want to get stranded after driving some place. After reviewing the internet, the electrical starting system is a major issue for the 2013 Honda Accord. Honda USA says you cannot believe everything on the internet. See carcomplaints. Com. Something needs to be done because it is a safety issue.
My car just got 22,000 miles but has problems with the starter. I joined a forum of people who own same type of my car. There are many people has same problems with mine. Some lucky people got the problem when the car has 80,000 miles. Some unlucky people got the problem with the low miles on the car as me. I think Honda need to have a recall for starter problem of Honda Accord 13 model.
Apparently many have complained about faulty starters in this particular model, and sure enough I experienced it today. The starter failed. This is from a cold start and it's happened three times already.
Starter issue. Electrical problems. 400-700$ repair multiple complaints online about same problem my car 2013 Accord exl 81000k.
Intermittent starting issues. Sometimes it will start on first push of the push to start button. Other times it takes 10+ minutes of attempts to get it started. Sometimes it just hasn't started. Took to a mechanic, diagnosed as the starter, replaced starter. Issue is still present this did not fix the problem.
Vehicle is a push start. Sometimes it acts like the starter has a problem. Won't crank every time. Vehicle driver side door will not unlock with the key fob. Had it diagnosed at dealership said that the motor in the door went out.
Intermittent ignition failure. This seems to occur more frequently in colder weather, but I have had issues all year long. When attempting to start the engine, you hear a loud static noise with no engagement of the engine. I've had to abandon my car on a couple occasions due to this failure. Honda service technician advised me that this is a common issue and often results in replacing the starter. I don't have a written quote, but he verbally estimated the cost to be around $1,000.
2013 Honda Accord v6exl starter makes grinding noise when being started for the first time that day. Happens more on colder mornings than warm mornings. It is a known problem with this year Accord.
Starter problems: changed battery twice within 40k mileage (odometer reading) the last time they changed battery it was by Honda said my battery is not good and reason because something in the electrical withdrawing power and killing the battery and after 4 days at Honda dealer and charged me over $600 they could not identify the problem (they said). . . In fact they said we think in the radio maybe! well after 6 months I found out the problem was not what they say but in the starter! the starter cause this issue until it finally the starter went dead! I open the starter myself and its definitely the starter causing this and I thought to bring it to your attention. Honda must known about this for sure! these condition it caused when its stationary. But so much pain. You drive the car and then you park and then when start nothing, painful experiences. It happened in may occasions, since I bought the car from dealer and until December 8 that is when I open the starter and saw this to for sure its the starter problem that cause battery to die early and Honda could not identify the problem at all until finally the starter wen dead. I am an engineer and confident its from the starter. I leave the matter to you to check and decided. Thanks.
Repeated ignition system failure on 2013 Honda Accord v6 touring with push button start that left my daughter and me stranded on a night when it was only 13 degrees above zero. Push button start only resulted in a grinding noise, no attempt to engage flywheel to start the engine. Starter has been replaced twice and the torque converter once (at the recommendation of the dealer to fix this issue) with the same resulting grinding noise and failure of the engine to start. This issue has been reported to Honda corporation many times; it is a poorly engineered and faulty design that they refuse to acknowledge and cannot fix.
Sometimes my 2013 Honda Accord car won't start immediately. It was stationary. I have to wait a minute after the first few tries. It a starter issue. It not the battery I purchase a new battery and I I'm still having the same problem.
The car has intermittent starting issues. I have had the battery and alternator changed and checked and there appear to be no issues there. Online forums suggest that this is a endemic starter issue with Honda Accords. Sometimes the car will start with ease. Other times it will not start at all. When it does not start I have to jump it, but when I take it to the auto shop afterwards they tell me that there are no apparent issues with the battery or alternator.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 98,000. Jft.
Starter motor does not activate all of the time. The starter just clicks about 50% of the time . This has been going on for 3 months. The car will eventually start after numerous tries. Approximate mileage 67000.
2013 Accord did not start and make a click sound. Honda dealer not able to figure out the actual problem. Battery, starter replaced but did not resolve the issue.
Vehicle would occasionally not start. When pressing the button, a static noise is heard. The starter is spinning, but not engaging with the torque gear. The starter motor has been replaced three times but the result is the same. These start issues are a daily occurrence. The only way it starts is if I shift to neutral and try. Occasionally that doesn't work and I have to shift back to park and try to start it there.

The car is having starter issues. Randomly will start and then won't. There are thousands of complaints about this on the internet. Same make and model, same issue. The system or starters are obviously defective and should be recalled. This has been an ongoing issue for quite some time for us- at least a year or more.
I think this might be my 3rd complaint, I love Honda and have had Honda cars for years, but this has really tested my patience. For the last 4 years I have gone through 3 starters and 2 alternators, every time I contact Honda they tell me to drop the car off so they can test it, I pay them $130 so they can tell me what they already know. My problem is that starter issue is very common, and there is no long term fix for this issue. So the issue is back, I end up getting stranded in places for hours at a time, and sometimes even end up being late to work, due to my starter spinning away until I can get it to catch eventually. I took it to get appraised the other day, and it wouldn't start ofcourse, the dealer refused to look at the vehicle ofcourse, because no one wants to sell a lemon. At this point, I am either looking for Honda to buy my car off me, replace it, or come up with a permanent fix. If you go on youtube and type in Honda starter issue you will find plenty of videos, and I also have reciepts for all the trips my car took to the dealer. I am not going to install a 4th starter, that is that rediculouse, I refuse to go to a Honda dealership again for them to tell me what I already know.

In 2018 my battery went dead and the lines were corroded. Battery was replaced. 3 months ago my car started to not start randomly. All lights on dash lit up, starter making noise as if it is starting, car doesn't start. This was about once a week but is now up to ten times a week. I looked it up online where others reported the same problem, said put it in neutral and it will start (true) and that Hondas were having trouble with connection to batteries. Said step one was to change out sensor until part became available to fix this problem and to contact recall with VIN number to get vehicle fixed. I had a recall on a sensor a couple of years ago and took car in for same and had work done--not sure if this is same problem or not, but as I was able to look the exact problem up online with explanation and solution how to circumvent problem I expected to see a recall about this. Please advise what my next step is. Thank you. Elinor sevick.
Having problems with starting the car at times. It started when on a road trip. We were an hour out from home, had been driving for approximately 2. 5 hours. We stopped at a rest area to use the facilities, came back to the car and it wouldn't start, it tried turning over but did not. We received a boost and it started right up. This happens intermittently with no warning. I have been stranded on several occasions. The car was checked out and I was told that the battery, alternator and starter were all fine. I actually drive with a jump starter in the car so that I won't be stranded. It is frustrating to not know what is wrong.
This problem started two years ago and got worse in may. It all started whe we had a rough time starting the vehicle it would take up to 6 time until the car would finally start. We were told it was the battery so we changed the batter up to four time and it still kept having starting issues so then we were told it was the starter so we had it replaced and we are still having issues and now the car stalled on me while stopped in the middle of a busy intersection and it took numerous tries and it finally turned over. Our local dealership had the car for 13 weeks and told us they were able to duplicate the starting issues and then told us a few days later they didnt push the button in long enough so it was there mechanics fault and then tell us they find a draw on the battery and a few days later tells us there mechanic used a faulty meter and then they blame it on our internet, Smart tvs, garage door opener and wifi. I am so tired of all the excuses and need a car that's not going to leave me stranded and that I can feel safe driving the car out of town right now that's not the case. I do have several friends and family members that have had to come to my rescue to jump start my car or we have had to call a tow truck to get it to the dealership. We have had two ase certified mechanics look at it and were able to duplicate the starting issues and the battery draining and they both told us to take it to our local dealership. We have lots of video and documentation of what the car is doing and also friends that will speak on our behalf. No one will ride with me anymore in fear the car wont start or stall while stopped in a busy intersection. We started having issues two years ago but got alot worse in may of this year.
Starter is malfunctioning. Grinds at first and typically starts on second or third attempt.

Push button start does not function properly. The car is unpredictable because it frequently fails to start when I push the engine button. Sometimes it starts on the first try, but I am frequently left trying to crank the car for 5 to 10 minutes. One day it would not start at all but started immediately the next morning. This problem has existed for months and the car has approximately 52,000 miles. I read on community talk that other Honda owners are experiencing the same issue. On June 27, 2019, I had to pay over $773. 84 to replace the starter. The dealership in danville, va. Said they keep the starters in stock because they are replacing all of them.
The car has a push button start. Sometimes the starter on the car does not work properly. At times, the car fails to start for 5 to 10 minutes and indicates that the starter system is not not working properly. It also indicates that the power is still on. Even after the ignition is off, the power is still on. On June 27, 2019, I had to pay $773. 84 to replace the starter. This problem has been going on for months. The car only has 51,562 miles. The problem started before 50,000 miles but happened infrequently. Over the months, the problem grew worse. Now the car may not start in the evening but starts immediately the next morning. Getting stranded is a definite risk. The danville Honda dealership in virginia said they keep the starters in stock because they are replacing a lot of them. There are also discussions on-line about the problem - community talk. Therefore, Honda should replace the starters free of charge.
The starter fails to start the car. The starter throws out the pinion ,but fails to engage the fly wheel and crank the motor. Starts out intermitent and steadily gets worse. I have replaced the starter 3 times, one after market refurb starter failed right out of the box. Honda has a service bulletin that documents this failure , but tell the owner to replace the starter and rotate the fly wheel on the torque convertor. This does not fix the issue. The issue is a poorly machined shaft inside the starter on which the pinion gear floats. Over time it becomes worn and the pinion gear fails to full engage the fly wheel and runs out short on the shaft in the starter. It is and engineering defect and should be correct by Honda. I have felt the hang up of the pinion gear once the starter is out of the car and on a bench.
