2014 Honda Accord will not start. It starts intermittently, but sometimes when I try to start it, it makes a clicking noise, but will not start. Sometimes it eventually starts, but other times I have to jump it. Battery and alternator both check out fine.
On Friday, 11/15/19, my car notified me to check my fuel cap, so I checked it and closed it until the hearing the clicking sound. On saturday11/16/19, the engine light came on; I'd been smelling a strong smell of gas for about two weeks, and I thought it was coming from inside of my home, I had someone to go and check my home and found nothing wrong there. It wasn't until I was pumping gas into my car (turned off), and when it reached full, the handle clicked, and I could hear the gas pouring out onto the ground.
Vehicle would not start. Only a clicking sound would be heard under the hood. All ignition lights would light properly and headlights stayed on and were bright. This indicated battery was good. Also battery was just replaced. But the car engine would not turn over. It would take 2 to 3 tries to get car to start. It got progressively worse as time went on. It turns out I had to replace the starter. It went bad after only 42,500 miles. I seen other complaints about starter issue. It appears Honda may have defect in starter. The warranty expired about 8 months ago, and the dealer wanted to charge me $650 to replace starter. I bought a starter and installed myself saving money.
2014 Honda Accord sport experiencing progressive intermittent starting problems with 56,000 miles on odometer. Car has a new battery less than 4 months old. Clicking sound can be heard under engine but starter will not turn. After 3 to 15 attempts starter will engage and car starts. Problem occurs at any time, with hot or cold engine. Internet search shows many others are experiencing same problem. Dealers are recommending starter replacement. Dealer repair is between $600 to $900.
