2 Fuel Injection problem of the 2000 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/24/2006

Car fuel injection system completely failed in heavy traffic almost causing a major collision on I-94 in chicago, IL. The main relay system had to be replaced. This is a major hazard, and Honda must be forced to look into this. This is the same car where the transmission had to be completely replaced within a year. Something must be done, for the safety of drivers and other vehicle drivers who may be involved in these vehicle failures.

Sticking accelerator pedal in a 1999 Honda Accord ex sedan 4 cyl automatic. The accelerator started sticking and would result in a sudden unsafe surge when accelerating from a stop. The dealer identified the problem as a carbon build-up in the throttel body which resulted in the throttle plate sticking.

4 Fuel Injection problem of the 1999 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/29/2003

This is a follow-up to a previous complaint - 10020962 from last year. Low and behold, 4 months after my brake rotors were turned and repaired, the brakes started to warp again. The Honda dealership would not re-repair them - they indicated that the aftermarket brake pads on the front were causing the problem (the brake pads were fine). I took my car to another facility - one that fixes and maintains race cars - they indicated that auto makers are using lighter (and less durable) parts to enhance mpg ratings - which is more likely the cause of this problem with my Honda Accord, as well as with other types of vehicles. The good news was that while my car was in, I was able to get the recall on the ignition switch fixed, and at the same time, they indicated that my car needs a new catalytic converter - I believe this is the same issue many Honda owners are facing - "check engine" light comes on about 3-4 months into each new gas cap. I've had 4 for this vehicle (and have not lost any). I've never replaced a gas cap in my life before, just as I have never had brake rotor problems before. The only good thing I could say was that they did not charge me the diagnostic fee - given the problems I've had, I would hope not. I ended up having the O2 filter / sensor (whatever it is) replaced at another facility - which took care of a drop in mileage issue I was experiencing. The bad news for Honda is that I am probably going back to Toyota - I would love to have another Honda if the dealership would stand behind their vehicles or make me an offer I can't refuse (with a decent trade in on this vehicle). . . I'm in the market for a 2004-2005 small to med SUV. . . I loved some aspects of my Accord, but need a new, larger vehicle to haul my daughter back and forth to college. Since I know the rotors won't last, I'm not repairing them anymore. This is obviously a faulty design for this model.

5 Fuel Injection problem of the 2000 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 03/01/2003

Accelerator sticks when car has been sitting for a while causing excessive acceleration during first pedal depression. Potential problem in tight parking lot situations. Dealer not contacted. Car out of warranty.

6 Fuel Injection problem of the 2002 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/29/2002

I am very disappointed with my very first new car purchase. I thought Honda was supposed to be a number one car for safety and was supposed to be long lasting. I have had mine in the shop 6-7 times in the last 6 -7 months and it is due to go into the shop again because they still have not fixed the window buttons correctly. I have had the car not start 3 times and have brought it into the dealer to have them tell me that nothing is wrong. I have been without a car for several days while they have it hooked up to some computer and have had no rental cars available to me. I am very frustrated and very affraid to go out to my car and have it not start on a day that I really need it. I want these pronblems fixed and am bringing it to another dealer to see if they can help me with it. Dt.

8 Fuel Injection problem of the 1999 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 11/20/2001

1. ) sometimes when I start the car the gas pedal sticks. 2. ) while coming to a stop the car shuts off as if the battery died. The battery is fine. 3. ) yesterday duiring the day the car would not start, acted as if it wasen't getting any fuel. The gas tank is full. After several attemps and waiting for 15-minutes the car started ok. I have serviced my car as required.

9 Fuel Injection problem of the 2000 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/12/2001

The wires that connect to the fuel injectors appear to have their insulation melted away revealing the copper wire. Multiple injector wires are involved. The insulation is missing a third of the circumferance and about 17mm in length. I suspect excess engine heat has caused this defect. The defect was only spotted when the plastic engine cover was removed during in installation of a aftermarket cruise control device.

10 Fuel Injection problem of the 2001 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/01/2001

My 2001 Accord has had a problem with the accelerator sticking since it was new. While it hasn't yet stuck open it does stick everday. It seems worse when it is first cranked in the morning, however, letting it warm up has not effect. This is especially dangerous in parking garages and lots. I have had this auto to apple tree Honda on at least six occasions and they tell me they can't duplicate the problem. I have left it overnight for them to service the next day and they insist it doesn't do this with them. I have complained to them on at least 6 occasions and paid for three fuel injection cleanings. The accelerator still sticks. I understand from doing internet research that this is a common problem with my year automobile, yet Honda obviously doesn't want to address the issue. In addition, my transmission is getting worse day by day. It now doesn't engage properly especially after driving, stopping and taking off again on a grade. While this car has a grade logic sensor the sensor apparently doesn't do it's job because I live in the mountains and it never engages. Apple tree also tells me that they just can't seem to duplicate any transmission problem. I am aware that there is an extended warranty due to a recall but apple tree has never mentioned any repair to me. In addition, from internet research, when you take your Accord for this warranty repair they use a "used" transmission under the excuse that it will take to long to get a new one. I have written a detailed letter to american Honda to see if they will assist me, other than another trip to apple tree, whose service is substandard and has been for years. When I owned my first Accord I drove over an hour for service to another state because apple tree actually damaged by car during service, left me sitting three hours durning a 10 minute oil change because they couldn't "forgot" I was waiting, etc. This is my second Accord but definitely my last unless Honda deals with the issues.
