6 Fuel Pump problem of the 2003 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/04/2011

At approximately 56,000 miles, we had to replace the rear main oil seal. At 68,000 miles, we had to replace the fuel pump and as of June 4th, 2011, we were informed that we need to replace the transmission at 78,000 miles. The transmission failed going approximately 70 mph and proceeded into "limp mode" to 30 mph. It proceeded to then return instantly to 70 mph and within 30 seconds repeated the same and as we were trying not to fly off the highway it again repeated this same behavior at which point we pulled off to the side of the highway, which was approximately 2 feet wide, and as traffic, which was thankfully not right on our tail, flew by we were able to drive on the side of the highway for the next 20 miles at approximately 30 miles per hour into the next town. At this point, there wasn't anyone available to look at the vehicle so we left it and rented a vehicle. Our Honda would not even go into reverse at this point. We then towed the Honda back to our home town and dropped it straight to Honda of tri-cities. There they diagnosed that their was a transmission failure and it had to be replaced. They offered to pay half of the cost ($2000. 00) but we feel there is a life threatening problem with that transmission and after seeing all of the additional customers of Honda's, the years between 1999 and 2003, that have had the same life threatening experiences, we are appalled that the public has not been notified of this. Not just by a check on your transmission but a complete recall. I am very surprised that we were not fatally injured.

7 Fuel Pump problem of the 1998 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/22/2011

1998 Honda Accord shuts off by itself while driving. Happens sporadically. Replaced fuel pump, fuel igniter, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, etc. Nothing fixed it. Now they say it might be the ignition switch. There was a recall for this in 2002 but my VIN doesn't come up as part of that recall so I have to pay to have it replaced. And that may not fix it either.

9 Fuel Pump problem of the 2007 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/30/2009

My 2007 Honda Accord with 23,800 miles on it stalls and will not restart. This occurs after it has been driven lightly (a few local miles) in moderate temperature conditions. The ignition doesn't work; the battery loses its charge. The occurrences are unpredictable and leave me stranded wherever the incident occurs. Yesterday I was stranded one-hour from my home; called aaa for assistance. Aaa observed the battery needed recharging which solved the problem. However when taken to the dealer, the Honda dealer claimed there was nothing wrong with the battery. This appears to be an electrical or fuel pump problem and appears to relate directly to the NHTSA Honda recalls for stalling and/or sudden stopping by recalled 2005-2006 models. The problem has not been corrected in my 2007 model. What iis my recourse? I haven't paid the car off yet and consider it to be a lemon.

11 Fuel Pump problem of the 2005 Honda Accord

12 Fuel Pump problem of the 2005 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/22/2007

Early last year the car would not start. According to dealer the relay switch was bad and needed to be replaced. In March 2007 Honda issued a recall relating to a defect with the relay, causing the fuel pump to lose power, become inoperative ,and possibly leaving the vehicle inoperable. According to Honda's March 13, 2007 letter to mr. Daniel smith at NHTSA the vehicle fell into the VIN numbers which were subject to the recall as this vehicle's VIN was, and the VIN range given by Honda was 1hgcm81695a016249 - 1hgcm82665a018586. Curiously, this vehicle did not fall into the alleged dates of manufacturing listed by Honda. More specifically, it appeared this vehicle was manufactured in January 2005, while the vehicles with the affected VIN range were allegedly only manufactured between April 13, 2005 - June 15, 2005. I contacted Honda with this information ,and was advised that this vehicle was not part of the recall, yet my relay had failed a year earlier. I am concerned that the VIN numbers listed by Honda to be affected by the recall did not match up with the alleged dates of manufacturing listed by Honda, thereby calling into question the true number of vehicles that contained this serious, safety related defect which warranted a recall. I would like someone from NHTSA to contact me on this problem.

13 Fuel Pump problem of the 2005 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/14/2007

Honda refused to honor recall #07v097000 based on their own service bulletin #07-020 which included this vehicle's VIN for the 4-door v6 VIN series as listed. I never received any recall notice from Honda in regard to this problem.

14 Fuel Pump problem of the 2003 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/02/2003

Since owning this car January 2003, the following has happened to abs harness caught on fire (car was saved, but Honda refused to give me another car after writing them), radio has gone out, clock gone out, trouble starting vehicle - this is apparently a fuel pressure regulator - tech notice but no recall. The front brakes were silently recalled only if you state your having problems. This car has been one big problem.

15 Fuel Pump problem of the 1999 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/01/2003

When temperature reaches under 32f, first thing in the morning, the car was warmed up, and after driving 1/2 mile, the car shut-down and won't restart. Problem was found to be the fuel pump, According to the mechanic, he has known of at least 20 Accords from the same model 98-02, with similar problems, and it all was traced to the same manufacturer who made the fuel pumps.

16 Fuel Pump problem of the 2000 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/12/2001

I purchased a certified used car from dublin Honda with a little over 7k miles, around the 12th of August 2001. My car started stalling while driving when the gas tank was between 1/4-1/8 tank. I also noticed a black flap hanging under my car and a lot of duct tape wrapped around the front axel and caught on the tires. It took three trips to the service department. They finally removed the fuel tank and found damage fuel tank damage and damage under fuel pump. They said but did not put in writing that there was a patch on an area of the damage. They asked me what I had hit, which I hadn't hit as there was a patch repair in the area. I have not hit anything. Therefore Honda sold me a car that was damaged and did not report this to me. What I really want is Honda to replace my car with a new one. I know that it is illegal to sell a damaged car without the purchasers notified of any defects, etc. And I was not. My car stalled while driving 75 miles and hour on a very busy freeway and therefore I could not get off the freeway and had too many near misses from other cars to want to remember. I thought at what point that I was going to die out there. I could see the headlines. "hospice nurse dies on freeway after visiting patient. ".
