41 Headlights problem of the 2016 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/17/2018

Daytime running lights, led strip, go out after about 30,000 miles. My driver side led strip went out and Honda replaced it at 35,000 miles. At 40,000 miles, passenger side drl led strip went out. Honda is using faulty parts and is charging $800 to replace the headlight assembly every 30,000 miles. This is dangerous because the led strip lights are important when driving through safety zones that require headlights to be on, or at night where you need the light to see the road clearly. Lighting isn't a wear and tear part and they should not be going out that often.

42 Headlights problem of the 2017 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/17/2018

Led drl premature failure: I write concerning premature drl led failure in the led headlights of my 2017 Honda Accord touring v6. The led drl failed less than 18 months and 22k miles into brand-new ownership. The unit's design is such that, should it fail, complete and costly replacement of the unit is necessary: $1500+. While the item is covered under the new car warranty, subsequent failures of this supposed safety item would not be covered, should additional premature failure occur, which is a most inconvenient and hazardous realization.

43 Headlights problem of the 2016 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/14/2018

I have a problem with the led drl in both headlights. I notice on the internet that a lot of Honda Accord v6 touring owners had the same complaint. I think that this is a problem that Honda needs to fix. The drl is a safety equipment and looks like on this years that part was defective. I appreciate all your help.

44 Headlights problem of the 2016 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/01/2018

Back in sept 2017, my drivers side drl led strip went out, and Honda replaced it, but charged me a deductible of $100. Aroung may first, 2018, my passenger side drl led strip went out, and Honda is saying that the first one was a courtesy, but I have to pay for the majority of the repair this time. Looking up different Accord forums, the 2016 model seems to have an issue with the drl led strips. Many people have reported issues with the light, but Honda is claiming that no one has reported the issue at all, and my issue is due to me driving from milwaukee, to chicago everyday for work. Lights are not wear and tear parts, so should not be impacted by driving 60 miles in each direction. Honda is refusing to take responsibility for an obvious defect, and requiring people to pay well over $500 to replace the full headlight assembly.

51 Headlights problem of the 2016 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/05/2017

A recall was issued regarding the battery management sensor and battery is out at 46k miles. How do we know that the battery management sensor didn't take out the battery also since is it managing the battery? also, half of the daytime running lights on the driver side headlight decide to go out too. If you web search these issues, these are common issue for the Honda Accord. I guess Honda is only known to be reliable until the warranty period is over.

52 Headlights problem of the 2016 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 11/08/2017

Purchased Honda Accord in 2017 for trips & highway driving. At 34k miles the drivers side drl running lights started to fade and then went completely out. Took back to dealership for repair and because the car now had 39k miles will not fix. The part the part #33150-taa81 is over $800 purchase since the entire headlight assembly has to be replaced. This is the touring model which was a premium option with these lights. This wasn`t an issue until the past months we have been issued warnings by state patrol of nebraska and colorado that the driving lights were out!? I never knew this was a valid safety violation for a running car?.

53 Headlights problem of the 2016 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/05/2017

I have a 2016 Honda Accord sport that I bought brand new. A friend had noticed that the driver-side's led daytime running light was only half-lit. I took it to my Honda dealer and it was immediately noticeable that they were familiar with the problem and immediately said it was covered under my warranty. My car has clocked 42,200 miles and was not covered by warranty. While at the dealership waiting on my car I noticed two other Honda Accord with the same identical problem; driver-side's led daytime running light was only half-lit. They have to order an entire headlight unit; not just the led strip portion and it will cost over $500. This is a matter of a faulty and cheap led lighting system and is a hazard for driving at night.

54 Headlights problem of the 2016 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/01/2017

Issue 1: led strip on front headlight defective. Had two defective headlight led strips go out on my vehicle. Issue 2: chasis making squeaking sound when driving less than 5 mph driving on incline.

Failure Date: 08/31/2017

The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17v418000 (electrical system). The part for the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. When starting the vehicle, the battery had to be charged before the vehicle would start. The driver's side fog light also suddenly failed. While driving approximately 80 mph, the contact noticed a burning odor inside the vehicle. The contact parked and turned off the vehicle. When attempting to restart the vehicle, it failed to start. The contact had the vehicle towed to bozman Honda (located at 8450 huffine lane, bozeman, mt, 59718; 406-587-0761) and informed the contact that the part for the remedy was not available. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 40,974. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The led inside of the headlight assembly melts the surrounding plastic causing failure of the daytime running lights. Complete replacement of the headlight is required to repair it. This is a widespread problem across all 2016 and 2017 models.

57 Headlights problem of the 2016 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/20/2017

Led headlight running lights go out after 1 year. Both headlights have been replaced three times at dealership. Based emails other Hondas touring models have had same issue caused by defective heat sink in the headlight.

58 Headlights problem of the 2016 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/14/2017

After driving the vehicle for only 20,000 miles, both daytime running lights shut off and stopped working. The daytime running headlights were not part of any Honda warranty due. The day time running headlight appear to be affected by a electrical issue or possibly a defect in the headlight itself. Honda is charging customers well over $1,000 to replace each headlight unit which contains the led daytime running lights.

59 Headlights problem of the 2016 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 03/26/2017

I was traveling I-24 eastbound on the final leg of a 650 mile trip. It was about 8:30- 8:45 et. I was passing through marion county near monteagle (TN) when my headlights dimmed so that I could not see. (the headlights were in the "auto" position to come on as darkness descended. ) within minutes, all interior dashboard lights failed also. I was traveling at 60 mph through this very dangerous mountain pass with no interior or exterior lights in the dark in an unlit rural area, cars passing at a high rate of speed. I put on my flashers so that approaching cars could detect my presence and not run over me. The emergency lights appeared to be working but I quickly realized as a pickup truck approached my rear end at about 75 mph. That the driver could not see me. At the last second, he swerved into the left lane. Two more cars nearly ran into me so I knew the flashers were not working either. I had no idea of how fast I was going because I could not read the speedometer. Tried to adjust the lights with no success. No bright lights either. I was finally able to exit at a rural place with a fireworks store, but it was closed. I turned off the car; I was terrified. When I turned the car back on after a few minutes, the exterior lights came back on but no dash lights. A man leaving the store gave me a high power flashlight to put on the dash to enable me to see the speedometer. I drove 10-12 miles before I got to lookout mountain and was able to get a hotel room. I drove to economy Honda in chattanooga, TN the next morning. After examining my new Accord (<6600 miles, purchased new in October 2016) for a week, Honda was unable to determine the cause of the failure. In fact, According to Honda, they cannot determine that an electrical failure occurred at all. Needless to say, I am very upset & concerned for my safety and afraid to drive at night.

60 Headlights problem of the 2014 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/10/2016

The month after our vehicle warranty expired, everything went wrong. I had trouble turning my car on for the time when I was at work (about an 8 mile drive from home). . I drove to work with no issues and about 3 hours later of it being stationary, it wouldn't turn on. I tried about 10 times. I had to leave my car there overnight and call someone to pick me up. I was lucky that I realized it wasn't working during lunch. I usually got off from work at 6pm when there was no one left in the office and if I didn't have a phone on me, I would have been alone there in an unsafe neighborhood. . The mechanic told me it was the starter and seeing how it was a 3 year car with not enough miles to warrant starter problems, that it was defective. We took it to Honda and they said they would not cover the charges. We paid for a new starter out of pocket and it solved the problem. Now the power window button on the driver's side for the front passenger window does not work. One day it just stopped working. I typically drive with my mom in the passenger seat and she often gets anxiety attacks. The wind makes her feel better and when an episode while driving happened, I wasn't able to put her window down to help her. The left headlight on the car is also broken. I didn't realize it right away since the right one works. In a sense, it's terrible that something in the car was broken and that there was no car signal to notify me. We realize that cars require upkeep, but for a 5 year old car to have this many mechanical issues is ridiculous. I realize that these.

61 Headlights problem of the 1999 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 11/04/2016

Takata recall I had problems with getting the key to turn in the ignition. It eventually failed. I was informed by a professional that it was the key. I had the key replaced. Honda tried to charge me for the key knowing that there was a recall. Too, my headlights have always been very dimmed. I have bought several replacements. They still appear very dim.

62 Headlights problem of the 2015 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/15/2016

Headlights on low beam have a sharp top side cutoff that makes seeing the road and signs and objects difficult to see at night. Also when going down hill and if the road rises sharply, you cannot see very far ahead, I almost hit someone crossing a street because of this. Also, the heater/ac controls are needlessly complicated, as are the radio controls. Where one knob could control the on/off and fan speed, this car has three separate small buttons where you must take yours eyes off the road to find. The same applies to changing the temperature; there are two up/down separate buttons, where one simple knob would work. The radio, too has too many needless buttons to push. If texting is dangerous while driving, they have made this car dangerous to change almost any control. There should be the rule that controls be kept as simple as possible. I understand that the Lexus even has a separate mouse you must use to change settings! it has gotten out of control.

63 Headlights problem of the 2001 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/24/2016

I had my car taken in for the airbag recall and the srs light remains on. I also have the check engine light on constantly. I do not believe they fixed my recall completely and believe my vehicle has several other recalled issues at hand. Including the transmission not working properly. The headlight s do not give proper lighting and visibility is horrible at night. The seatbelt on my driver side locks all the time when I try to look over my shoulder. The tcs light sporadically comes on when the road conditions change and I do not feel safe but I don't have the finances to get dealership autoshop work performed. So if I do get into an accident due to these defects being faulty to begin with don't say I didn't try and get help.

64 Headlights problem of the 2016 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/05/2016

Low beam headlights are dim.

65 Headlights problem of the 2005 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/26/2016

My headlights appear to not illuminate very far in the night on the low beam. Additionally as a contributing the outer casing of the headlights are dull and the plastic appears to have deteriorated. While the dealership I saw 3 other Hondas with the same clouded outer casings. On the hwy at night I notice nights are noticeably providing less light on the road - and I am not comparing to the new style type lights - just regular lights on other cars shine way further out. The dealership suggested at nearly $100 each I could have a body shop work on them. This appears to be safety hazard from poorly designed materials used for the headlights and it feel Honda should remedy this as it is making my headlight not perform as intended or expected. The dealers attitude ( beaverton Honda) was not to do anything but they did acknowledge the damage visibility due to this and said it was from being used outside in weather? it's a car not an indoor house cat!.

66 Headlights problem of the 2016 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/24/2016

Touring model daytime running light (drl) led strip is 70% un-lit on one headlight. This appears to be an extremely common problem and requires replacement of the entire headlight assembly, dealer part cost $945, install not included. From my research it appears these burn out early and often and drl's are listed as a safety feature. This is not right and a solution needs to be provided. Honda cannot expect people to replace lights every couple of years at that cost.

67 Headlights problem of the 2016 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/16/2016

Hey diycarmodz I'm a long time subscriber and bought a 2016 Accord coupe ex-l inspired by your vids. There's an issue on the 2016 & 2017 Accords coupes and sedans that is becoming a huge headache for a lot of owners. The drl led burns out which is expected to last the life of the car. The daytime running lights are listed as safety features by Honda. The light is not user accessible and the dealer has to replace the entire headlight assembly. I've had both sets of my headlights each replaced twice and just burnt out again. I have linked all the complaints online that I could find along with the comments on the videos. I was wondering if you could make the problem more known with your larger following so that Honda can put out a recall for this issue since it costs anywhere from $800-$1400 to get the problem resolved because of an led light. I see a lot of Accords on the road with a bunt out drl led and it is spreading. I have attached the links I have found. Https://youtu. Be/q00xnngaixw https://youtu. Be/xsfiy3b8r5k https://youtu. 68 Headlights problem of the 2005 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 02/01/2016

Headlights have top layer coming off the finish. The headlight then turns yellow and the clear lens becomes cloudy. This greatly reduces the amount of light on the road when driving at night. This causes increased danger of a car hitting an animal or pedestrian when driving at night. Aftermarket lens cleaning kits only offer a temporary fix. The only true fix is to replace the headlights, at a cost of almost $1000. The headlights are a safety devise that should last the life of the car, just like a seat belt or air bag. This headlight problem can be found on every car manufacture, not just Honda. Cloudy headlights should be replaced at no cost.

69 Headlights problem of the 2015 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 02/01/2016

When the headlights are turned on, both lens covers show a thick round circle distorting the beam projection. . Honda claims this happens on all the Accords and refuses to do fix the problem under the warranty. They said if they replaced the lights it would just happen again. They said its dust but it looks like the circle is etched, either way the light appears distorted.

70 Headlights problem of the 2016 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/01/2016

Grossly defective headlights, low beams fail to adequately illuminate the roadway in front of the vehicle. Low beam cutoff too low, unable to discern large bright object on roadway or edge at 100 foot distance. Photo documentation attached. Honda has not provided an owners manual or information for adjustment despite repeated requests. Honda claims I can order the manual on the web but it is not possible, the website only allows 2015 and earlier, screen shot attached. My local Honda dealer, southeast Honda service advisor claimed they cannot be adjusted, I believe that this information is not true.
