36 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/06/2008

Headliner had to be replaced on my 2008 Accord lx because raw edges were showing at weather stripping on all doors. Original dealer had car all day for repair. Three days later, the driver side sun visor fell on my head while driving on the parkway at high speed (knocked off my glasses). This could have caused an accident since I swerved after visor hit me. Went to different dealer for repair and it took two tries before they attached visor properly. They admitted that 2008 Accords now use plastic latch instead of 2 screws (civics still use screws), so it breaks easily. Honda should acknowledge and change back to the metal screws. The pleasant attitude that Honda is famous for is missing.

37 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 09/08/2008

My 2008 Accords consistently flash/dim every 30 seconds when the auto climate control mode is on. This is a safety issue when driving on a dark road at night as one's eyes naturally look away from the road for about a second-- enough time to be dangerous. I complained to the dealer and they said all vehicles do this. I have never heard of any vehicle doing this. I asked when the service bulletin would be coming out, assuming there is one in the works given the widespread issue, but the service writer ignored my comment. I had to literally demand that the dealer write my complaint on the repair order, and at the end, with my repair order, the clerk handed me an article trying to explain away the issue or pacify me. (it was a Honda article, which looked like it was from a repair manual or brochure, which stated that basically, if the customer complained to tell them its normal. ) in "auto" climate mode, the air conditioning compressor/fan kicks on every 30 seconds (even in the middle of winter) and the lights seem to flash at that time. Also, the steering pump makes a very loud whining/moaning noise at 1500-2000 rpms, and the steering in the vehicle has a shuttling/slipping sensation in the steering wheel upon turning. The dealer confirmed the steering issue and has ordered a new power steering pump which will hopefully remedy the issue. Finally, the driver's door handle, interior and exterior, does not open the door on occasion. This is also a safety issue as being able to exit the vehicle in emergency is critical. For such a highly touted vehicle manufacturer, Honda needs to work on fixing problems with their cars on the road and finding a resolution, not just their reputation and/or their bottom line. Also, Honda needs to instruct its dealers to take its customer's complaint's seriously, not simply attempt to diminish the complaint (I. E. Headlights flashing) because it is a widespread issue. I am disappointed with Honda's handling of the defects.

The contact owns a 2005 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the trunk lock on his vehicle was defective. He had to slam the trunk at least three to four times before it locked. The last time he slammed the trunk the rear glass shattered. He took the vehicle to the dealer for repair and they repaired the window and the trunk. 39 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2000 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/22/2008

The window regulators and power door locks on the Honda's I own keep failing and cost more than 300 dollars to repair. This seems to be a systemic problem on the Honda's. I have had this happen on all 4 doors of my 2000 Honda Accord and 2 doors on my 2004 Honda pilot. Honda needs to do a recall and fix this issue. People shouldn't have to pay for a systemic issue in the car, which can be a safety issue as well as you can't put the windows down or up once this happens.

40 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2007 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/26/2008

Multiple electrical difficulties vehicle has been at the dealership on 2 separate occasions due to sporadic working of the power door locks and keyless entry system. They still have not found the issue. It is worse when it is humid and/or rains. During the winter months of 2007/2008; the stereo's lcd went warped and the whole stereo had to be replaced. On memorial day 2008; the drivers side seat caught fire while I was sitting in it parked waiting on my children to come out of a theme park. My husband burned his hand trying to put out the fire; and was out of work for about 2-weeks due to the burn. The dealership and Honda refused to take responsibility for this fire; which started inside the seat due to the electronic seats and/or heated leather seats, as determined by the insurance company appraiser. The seat had to be replaced, the electronic seat components, heated leather seat components, part of the center console, and the carpeting and floor mats. We got the car back on July 3. On Monday, July 7; my husband took the car to have it inspected (at the dealership); since the state inspection was past due. They rejected the inspection stating that the electronic system is not recognizing the seat belts. They later changed their tune when I called them and are now trying to say it wasn't that it was the airbag wasn't hooked up; and they could fix it. I know they are lying, and they are trying to cover their tracks as this I am sure is just another electrical issue in my car. I am at my wits end on what to do with this car. I can't afford to trade it in, I have spent over $1000 on rental cars waiting for it to be repaired, and now this. Also, the power door locks still do not work.

41 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 1999 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/14/2008

The driver side door latch failed in the locked position with the door closed. This presented a very real safety hazard as I would not be able to exit the vehicle from the driver's side in an emergency. The repair estimate from the dealership was $1,300 for a $100 part. I went to my Honda independent mechanic and paid $505. 31. I am filing this complaint because of the safety hazard of this breakdown and price gouging by the dealership. It is my request that the repair work be covered under discretionary extended warranty.

Failure Date: 06/12/2007

First, my cd player stops working out of nowhere, which I later come to find out that they had installed an internal defective cd player. A couple of weeks after the cd player broke, my drive side door would not lock with the keyless entry or power locks. Then, a couple of weeks ago my driver side headlight went out. I got someone to change both so that one wouldn't be bright than the other, but after they were both I changed, the drive side headlight still refused to work.

45 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 1996 Honda Accord

Updated 05/16/2006.

46 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2003 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/31/2003

Both driver and front passenger doors will not stay propped open. They are very heavy, and when pushed open to either the first or second 'catch', the doors invariably fall back and crush the legs of the person trying to exit the vehicle. Both rear doors stay open, catching and locking properly on either of the two 'catch' points. When we pointed out to Honda dealer while the car was in for a different recall issue, they offered to order a replacement part for over $100 without even looking at the latch mechanism. I believe this is an original flaw with the car that they should repair for free.

47 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2016 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 02/26/1989

I got in a car accident and one of the straps popped out. It was always snug and wiggled before. Please investigate this product for a recall. Luckly one strap still held on. Witnesses said she wasn't buckled properly but I always check to see if the base wiggles. (related vehicle information: model year=2016, make=Honda, model=accord).
