36 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2017 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 10/26/2023

Keep receiving lkas, adaptive cruise control and collision mitigation errors on my car. Started once every few months and would reset after the car would be turned off and on. Now, the warning stays on. Both sensor areas are clean and unobstructed.

37 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2023 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 10/13/2023

At around 15k miles I started having an issue where my steering wheel would stick at an angle. Almost like it was stopped and shut off. As I would attempt to turn the wheel from left to right it would get semi stuck and you’d have to force it to break it free. This had happened numerous times and is an issue with the 11th gen si. The power steering rack and pinion were replaced under warranty after taking the car in multiple times and them claiming they never could replicate the issue. However, they replaced it with the same part so the issue will come back. During the time before replacement it got stuck and I had to pull hard to avoid hitting a car, barriers on freeway 99, flying off a cliff, and avoid driving off the road.

39 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 10/05/2023

When traveling on the highway, the cruise control system will cut out on random intervals, and not be available to turn back on unless you stop the vehicle, turn it off, and then turn it back on again. This poses an electrical system risk, and may encourage drivers to pull over on the side of the highway to restart their vehicle to regain access to cruise control. There are already many reddit and online forums about this issue I have linked below. There is also a service bulletin issued out for this issue, so Honda is aware that vehicles are affected, but this doesn’t actually fix the issue, since my car has already been in for service regarding this issue. . 40 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2023 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 10/01/2023

Under multiple conditions, both intercity highways and two-lane country highways the cars adaptive cruise control with randomly slowdown/brakes extremely hard. In one specific instance I was driving home in the middle of the night with a vehicle behind me and with no other oncoming traffic or cars in passing lanes and the adaptive cruise "brake checked" the car behind me, I was able to react and cancel the adaptive cruise and avoid an accident. When adaptive cruise is set it will also aggressively approach the car in front, instead of gradually slowing down it will continue at the set speed until the car realizes it's to close and will slam on the brakes to slow down. When adaptive cruise is turned off the car will slam on the brakes if you attempt to accelerate to pass someone and coast back to set speed. In other words, the car will slam on the brakes to resume the set cruise speed. Fortunately, no cars have been behind me when this has happened. Nowhere does it say that this will happen when using normal cruise control? speeds and conditions varied from city traffic going 20 - 40 mph, the highway going 55-65 and the interstate going 70-80 mph. Some instances were at night others were during the day.

41 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 08/06/2023

My car has the red light blinking on and I can't turn on my car it said it has engines problems.

42 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 05/18/2023

Power steering is giving an error code which has disabled front radar and adaptive cruise control as well as lane keep assist. Dealership is refusing to tell me in depth what is wrong with the unit but is insisting I replace it.

43 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/11/2023

There are two issues that I want to report: 1. While using the adaptive cruise control on the freeway, I was cruising at about 65 mph and my adaptive cruise control turned off by itself. My car began to decelerate with vehicles approaching my rear bumper rather quickly. I was not able to reengage the adaptive cruise control at all. 2. While driving on the freeway, I noticed my steering was not steady or stable. I would steer just a little bit to maintain my lane and the steering did not respond so I pushed the steering wheel a little more and the steering was sticky. So I pushed harder and the steering did move but it moved more than just enough to maintain my lane so I was weaving in my lane as I tried to make the corrections.

44 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/19/2023

This vehicle is two years old, has 70,000 miles on it now. It’s worth noting that this issue started when it had 15,000 mile on it several years ago. I took it to the dealer, but they told me they wouldn’t do anything about it since the light no longer indicated an issue. Randomly, the vehicle will suddenly say “collision mitigation system problem, see dealer” and “adaptive cruise control problem see dealer”. These two warnings always show up together, and always turn off lane keep assist and all cruise control options until the warning disappears. The warnings will pop up 5-6 times a year and sometimes last several days, sometimes only seconds. Dealer initially told me it may be due to water after it rains but now it’s happening even during dry weeks when we haven’t had rain in ages.

45 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2017 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 02/18/2023

On February 5th I was taking my car out to the grocery store. All of a sudden my lights turned on and as soon as I'm going up the hill, going back home the car starts to shake uncrontrollably. I check my car under the hood toes what is going on, all of my wiring had been damaged, even the battery was damaged. I later bought the new wiring and and battery and had it replaced. After a few days at the mechanic I was able to get my car back but the mechanic said that due to the fact of the material that Honda is making their wiring which is the soy bean material, animal love to eat from that it has been something that he has seen for quite some time. Anyway I thought it might've been from the location of where I parked the night before when I had to go outside of town because I always park right in front of my house and its the first time. February 17th, I was pulling out of my parking spot and noticed that my car wasn't breaking as it should be so therefore I stopped the car and opened my door and immediately when I look under the hood I knew animals had gotten into from the pile of leaves and sticks on top of of everything and afterwards the car just turned off all by itself. I am now experiencing the exact same thing which puts my life at risk because the car just stops working mid ride and I could be on a whole highway and cause a collision. If they know that this is something that animals look for to eat I think that it is not safe to use for a car cause I could have been in danger for both these events if I were to be on the highway and my car just decided to stop functioning I could've been in a different circumstances,.

46 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 02/13/2023

I purchased my 2022 Honda Civic hatchback sport in November of 2021. I currently have 7,000 miles on my vehicle. 2 months ago, I noticed a slight sticky feeling with my steering wheel. This almost feels like I am in a constant rut and having to make slight but hard pulls at the steering wheel to make any small adjustment. This occurs when I am going roughly 40 miles per hour or higher. At first, it felt like my lka was on but when I saw that it wasn’t it brought concern. I had a moment a couple of weeks ago where my steering wheel almost ran my husband and I into the right lane. I am worried since there have been multiple reports of others having this same issue and it got worse. I also had a moment on December 31st, 2022 where my car was put into adaptive cruise control around 70 mph and was shut off suddenly. I was not given the option to reengage the cruise control until after my car was turned off and on again. My car is currently at the dealership for these issues as we speak and my technician has said they don’t feel what I am talking about. This has made me feel unsafe to drive my vehicle and hope this complaint can join the others and help Honda send out a recall for this issue. 169 complaints about that same thing on here is a big deal. So is the thousands of reddit threads I have found stating this same problem. Please Honda, do better and call this in or unfortunately you will be met with a lot of lawsuits I am afraid.

47 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 02/07/2023

Sticking steering wheel when driving for extended periods of time. Notchy feel with stuck feeling after driving. Causing an oversteering effect in the car. Not a smooth steering experience.

48 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 02/03/2023

The steering feels very sticky after 17k miles and it’s getting worse, it occurs typically during highway speeds, also the lane assist feature is affected greatly by this as it does not work due to the steering having this “sticky” feel to it. Moderate to overcorrection of the steering wheel is required while operating the vehicle, this has caused constant swaying putting not only myself at risk but others especially while commuting daily. I feel as though my safety is at dire risk. Dealerships are no help as they say nothing can be done unless a code is popping up, but anyone in the car world knows that steering problems do not have a particular code of warning. Please investigate the matter ASAP as this could cause a serious life risk.

49 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/29/2023

Cruise control disengages then slows down very quickly, then will not reengage. You have to keep pulling over and restarting the car for the system to come back on line. It's random and keeps happening.

50 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2019 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/16/2023

I leased the Honda Civic from a dealer in maryland and the first advertisement for this car was this car has lane departure warning and adaptive cruise etc. I report some incidents of inefficacy these systems in my car while it showed alarm and Honda maintenance team assured me that it works perfectly. I was driving on fwy I-40 west in new mexico. After wind blow my whole front shield became foggy and the system did not show any alarm that it is not working. I ended up deviated from the road and my car was totaled. I called Honda customer service they assigned an investigation ticket but after several follow up nothing happened. Ca attorney general office referred me to you.

51 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/12/2023

2022 Honda Civic sport current milage: 21,000 miles. I have had this car since September 2021. Ever since my first day of ownership, the lkas system for assisting the driver with lane guidance constantly fights me. Often, the car turns the steering wheel by itself to hug the left lane line, often passing over the line and causing the lane departure warning to activate, shaking the steering wheel. This issue has occurred on the right lane line as well, but typically the issue is with the left lane line for my car. This happens every time I drive my car. I took my 2022 Honda Civic sport to a Honda dealership about a year ago to look at the lane departure issue. The mechanics were able to replicate the issue, however nobody knew what to do as no codes were supplied by the car. The employees acted as if I was stupid as I explained my issue, with video proof, however their doubt changed when their test drive concluded. I was later informed by Honda dealership employees that the car was "supposed to guide towards the lane lines. " I am not confident that any car is "supposed" to do anything as dangerous as the 2022 Honda Civic sport lkas system; this issue will increase the likelihood of accidental sideswipes on multi-lane roads, or loss of control in poor road conditions as you have to yank on the very stiff steering wheel and constantly apply pressure to oppose the lkas system. Another issue with the same 2022 Honda Civic sport is that the acc system malfunctions. For no reason at all, in perfect driving conditions and no warnings at all, cruise control will turn itself off. This is dangerous as I do not anticipate the deactivation of the system, leading the car to significantly decrease in speed on the interstate without. The system cannot be reactivated until the car is recycled; the vehicle must be pulled off the road to correct this problem. Nobody at the dealership knows what to do about the cars they sell.

52 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/16/2022

Adaptive cruise control suddenly disengaged with a loud beep while on an interstate and collision mitigation braking also engaged without warning or reason. No warning lights or messages came on. Today, 12/16/2022 is the first time this happened.

53 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 11/25/2022

The cruise control stopped working all of a sudden on the freeway with a beep. When trying to turn it back on it beeps again and shows the off sign on the cruise control icon in the display screen.

54 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 11/18/2022

I owned 2 of these 2022 Civics equipped with Honda's collision mitigation braking technology. This is the year they removed the forward radar and relied only on a single camera unit. I was involved in a rear end collision where I was the rear ender even with the distance setting on the furthest setting. The accident was on the highway at about 40mph. A vehicle merging on to the highway stopped in front of me in my lane. I was using adaptive cruise control. I can tell you the responsive of this system had me worried from in several other situations I was in. Not only did the adaptive cruise fail detect and slow the vehicle based on the vehicle in front of me, the safety system did not make any attempt to slow the vehicle and no detection was made by the system until about . 2 seconds (or about 6') prior to the actual impact. I investigated the safety systems logs with a Honda mechanic by connecting a device to the obd2 port and downloading the logs to a computer to verify indeed it failed to properly detect any obstacle until it was far to late. This seems to be a concern other Honda drivers have expressed as well with this revision of their collision mitigation braking system. I believe they market as if this and the adaptive cruise system are features you can rely on to keep you safe and while I understand it can not account for every situation this was a perfectly clear day in arizona at about 5:30pm in moderate day light. I believe this system is dangerous and has serious flaws that do not properly detect vehicles in front of you in many situations is extremely slow to react in almost every situation. I attempted to upload these logs but you do not accept the file format they were exported in. If I can send these another way please let me know.

55 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 10/31/2022

Car has braked multiple times randomly when using acc when nothing was in front of the vehicle. Emergency braking has activated once randomly and another time for a pedestrian on the sidewalk. The lane departure should be turned off as it will yank the wheel from your hand and doesn't know how lane splits, mergers, and construction zones work. Both are a safety hazard.

56 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 09/25/2022

While driving my car on the open highway, I noticed that the steering wheel became somewhat sticky and resistant. This started in September of 2022 and the problem has become increasingly worse. The steering wheel requires excessive force to turn at speeds above 40mph, making micro-adjustments to the steering very difficult and causes oversteering. If there is a bend in the road and I turn the steering wheel, it sticks when trying to straighten the wheel out. It requires additional force to break the sticking point and get the car straightened back out. The safety concern is related to the straightening back out, in some cases it takes considerable effort and requires control to not over power into crossing the line of the lane. I also have concerns of a lock up and causing an accident that could harm me as well as others. Currently, I am not driving my new car due to the fear of an accident. There are zero warnings appears when this happens, so there is no way to prepare for it. I have contacted my local Honda dealership as well as America Honda (corporate office) to complain about this issue. The dealership informed me that the steering rack needs to be replaced. Honda is not able to provide an eta on the part, nor are they willing to provide a loaner car. Honda told us that we could pick the car back up and continue to drive it until it is repaired. Honda is not concerned about the danger to customers. Migliaccio & rathod llp is pulling info together to file a class action lawsuit since this issue is happening to so many Honda Civic owners. It should not take someone dying for Honda to resolve this issue with no expense to the customer. We are currently making payments on a new Honda that my son is scared to drive. Https://lemonexpert. 57 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2019 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 08/09/2022

I turned on my vehicle and randomly had multiple warning lights come on including power steering, acc, vsa, hill start assist, lkas, abs. The power steering completely went out completely randomly but the power steering fluid is full. Two weeks ago I had my fuel pump recalled and now I have these issues. Valley hi Honda in victorville CA has not returned my calls and has been absolutely no help. If I had been driving there would be a good chance I would have crashed as I would have been unable to navigate a turn.

58 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 08/01/2022

The adaptive cruise control disengages abruptly during its operation with a beep and cannot be reengaged unless it is restarted. Honda seems to have released a TSB for this issue but this car hasn't been updated for that TSB software update. Nevertheless I wish to log this complaint since it did occur a couple of times on the road so far with no obvious abnormal surrounding situations. The windshield and the weather were clear. The second incident occurred during night. Plan to go the dealer and get the TSB software flashed.

59 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2017 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 07/29/2022

Brake system indicator light came on 2 weeks prior to driver assist failure, cruise control no longer works, lane departure malfunction, collision detection malfunction, adaptive steering malfunction. Basically the whole driver assisted system no longer works I took it to be fixed by shop they cleared codes but problem still exists.

60 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2016 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 07/28/2022

Adaptive cruise control as well as automatic braking has come close several times to cause an accident on the highway. Sometimes a truck will be passing me in the left lane and the car will all of a sudden slam on brakes when there is nothing in front of me almost getting rear ended from the car behind me. Even when the cruise control isn’t set the automatic breaking will activate randomly when a large truck is passing me. I purchased this vehicle used and reported this to the dealer time of purchase but they did not fix it. But at the time it was not as noticeable. The car has less than 100,000 miles. The lane departure does not work pulling the car to oncoming traffic. In oncoming traffic in left lane it constantly causes the automatic breaking light to flash. This also randomly kicks off the cruise control. This situation seems to be getting worse. The form below is asking for a date that these incidents happen and does not give a place to say it happens every day, it’s only asking for a specific date. One day this is going to cause a severe accident.

62 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2019 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 06/11/2022

I took my 2019 Honda Civic into the dealership because I got a warning signal that says, collision mitigation system problem. The dealership says it needs a part that is back ordered and told me I could drive vehicle until part comes in. It has been several weeks. I am not comfortable driving my vehicle with this warning light on plus whatever they did since I assume this is a vital safety component/system. Also0, I have no cruise which makes long trips uncomfortable.

63 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2021 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 05/27/2022

Driving home from work. Cruise set at 73mph. I had just passed another car and was about 600 yrd in front of them on the pkwy, when the car just started breaking and ding, I get multiple warnings on the dash as I'm trying to get out of the way of other vehicles. The car drove normal the next 5 miles under my control but the dash is still lit with a collision mitigation system problem, adaptive cruise control problem, road departure mitigations system problem, drive carefully systems initializing problem, brakes system light. I'll note that there was not bad weather, there was no rain or snow. It was 80f. There was no impact, accident, etc.

64 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/30/2022

While driving on the freeway at 75 mph, the adaptive cruise control was engaged, and when commnig up behind a slower moving truck in the slow lane, our car decelerated to match it's speed. I then went to pass the truck after several vehicles passed us on the left. As soon as I started to change lanes, the cruise control shut itself off and the car started to slow down with several more cars now right behind us in the fast lane. Once we were past the truck and back in the slow lane, I tried to re-engage the acc, which refused to turn back on. It only gave a beep and showed an icon on the display that said acc was off. (it was not off). The acc would only start working again after we had gotten off the freeway and stoped the car. On this same trip, the acc turned itself off, on about 6 or 7 different occasions. There was also a time when I was following a vehicle with acc on, following at medium distance, and another vehicle sped past me on the left, and darted between our car and the one we had been following, and continued past that vehicle on the right side. As this other car passed between us and through, our car suddenly sped way up, forcing me to slam on the brakes so we wouldn't rear-end the vehicle in front of us. At this point, I do not trust the acc, or any of the advanced driver assistance systems in this car, and will not be using them unless Honda makes some fixes. (and even then, I will be wary) prior to this trip, my wife was in the car, parked, with engine off, using the radio to listen to a pod-cast via her phone (plugged into the usb) and the car suddenly gave her a warning message that all of the driver assist functions were disabled, and to please see the dealer. We took it in, and they said there were known issues with some of the cameras and they would replace ours when they get one in. They still haven't got one in, however, everything started working again on it's own after the dealer had looked at it.

65 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/28/2022

At random times under all driving conditions, the cruise control will shut off. There will be an alert sound without any subsequent information and the car will start decelerating. 67 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/19/2022

While driving on a interstate highway with adaptive cruise control enabled the adaptive cruise control system unexpectedly disabled itself. I was in the process of passing another vehicle, it was sunny and clear and suddenly I heard a long beep and the vehicle started to slow down. I briefly looked at the dashboard but see any warning but noticed acc was off. Once it was safe again I attempted to re-enable acc but the system refused saying acc was off. At the next rest area I stopped and shut off the vehicle, only after that I could use acc again. It's unknown if any of the other Honda sense features were disabled but this unexpected behavior is a concern. . Read more...

68 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

69 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/01/2022
