Car automatically stopped abruptly when a car in oncoming traffic turned a safe distance ahead of me. I was in the process of slowing down and was in no danger of being too close to the car in front of me. Nearly got rear ended.

My emergency braking system goes off constantly without anything in front of me. I almost got rear ended on a highway because my car came to a dead stop with nothing in front of me or even on the sides of me. It does this daily. My car also has been having a delayed start. It sounds like it almost does not want to start but then starts. Both of these issues have been affecting other Hondas including regular Civic sedans but excluding my model and have recalls issued.

I was stopped at a red light in the left-hand turn lane, waiting to turn left. Light turned green and I accelerated turning left. The car suddenly braked with no car or obstruction in my path. No collision mitigation light warnings came on. The car just slammed on the breaks!! dealer service manager told me over the phone that unless a code comes up, they really can’t diagnose the issue. I believe this is a design flaw and not an issue with my car that can be addressed by the dealer. I have done research online and found many people reporting this issue and several while turning left. I am very concerned with the safety of this car.

The vehicle has on numerous occasions performed automatic braking when no cars are near the front. This is causing the car to break abruptly and I’m fearful that a vehicle to the rear of me will collide due to the erratic and forceful application of the breaks.

On multiple occaisions the forward collision braking system has engaged erroniously while traveling on highways or interstates. Sudden heavy braking in these scenarios is disorienting and puts my at higher risk of rear end collision and of traction loss. The Honda dealer has been made aware of the issue but has dismissed it and refused to forward the complaint to Honda. There were no warnings or notifications other than the indicator that the forward collision braking system was being engaged.

We were driving to northern minnesota on the freeway. There were no vehicles in front of mine in either lane. The automatic braking system engaged and the vehicle almost came to a stop on the freeway before it disengaged. Approximately 1 hour later it happened again. If there had been a vehicle behind us in either instance there would have been a serious problem. Today pulling into the garage the same thing happened as I was halfway to parking. I am going to disable the feature.

While car in sport mode in center lane of a three lane road at 45mph traffic ahead by over 300ft began gently slowing down to +/- 25mph extreme braking was automatically applied w/o driver input, "brake" message was displayed flashing on instrument cluster. Car came to an immediate stop, nearly causing collision with another vehicle behind it.

Vehicle 1 (complaint vehicle) was traveling on interstate highway in moderate traffic in right lane while traveling around a slight curve traveling at 60 mph. Vehicle 2 traveling in left lane merged to right lane with approximately 2 car lanes of spacing in from of vehicle 1 (complaint vehicle). I lifted off accelerate in vehicle 1 (complaint vehicle) to slow down and Honda sensing collison mitigation braking system abruptly apply very hard braking resulting in vehicle 1(complaint vehicle) nosing driving and straightened the steering on the curve. The braking and steering straightening resulted in vehicle 1 (complaint vehicle) crossing the lane line into the left lane by approximately 2 feet before the vehicle could be recovered and a speed reduction by 15-20 mph. No vehicles were in left lane next to vehicle 1 (complaint vehicle) at the time of incident or behind vehicle 1 (complaint vehicle) to have resulted in a collusion. If vehicles were either behind or in the lane at the time of the incident the Honda sensing collison mitigation braking system actions would have directly resulted in a collision from its intervention. Contacted Honda and reported incident and inquired how to disable the system permanently and was told the Honda representative that they would pass along the information to "engineering" and the system can only be disabled for each drive and would turn on each time the ignition cycled. I then inquired if anybody would be reaching out to correct the issue and was informed that nobody would reaching out to me about the issue. I expressed the safety issues and was informed other than notifying engineering nothing would be addressed for me.

Phantom braking, has occurred over a dozen times. Caused me to spill hot coffee all over my face and neck causing mild burns.

The automatic emergency braking system has flashed across my dash on multiple occasions while actually braked on a handful of times. The system seems to work correctly when its needed, but the concern is it will brake while nothing has been infront of me. I have come to dead stop while going 15 through a empty parking lot. The vehicle is open for inspection at any time. The safety of myself and others is at risk due to faulty detection and can cause an accident with my child in the car. I have not taken it to be inspected or looked at. There has been no warning lights about faults in anything.

When riding down the highway at the speed of 70 mph the car slammed on brakes all by itself, almost came to a stop and then everything went back to normal . I am available for inspection of the car. My grandaughter and I were in the car and it was a very scary ordeal as the car was trying to or did slam on brakes. The problm has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer, how could it? has not been inspected no warning lamps, messages, symptoms, nothing of the sort.

My vehicle has randomly had the emergency brake assist applied when there was nothing in front of me. Thankfully there were no vehicles behind me & the times that there were it was residential roads that are 25mph. If this continues to happen it could cause an accident, having my vehicle go from 45-55mph to a complete stop with zero warning & no ability to continue driving until the alert disappears from the dash is quite dangerous. I haven’t had my vehicle looked at yet as it’s not something I can easily replicate, but I’ve seen quite a few complaints about it happening so I figured I should report it as well.

The vehicle will randomly say these warnings: brake system problem. Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer. Brake hold system problem. Apply brake when stopped. See your dealer. Anti-lock brake system problem. Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer. Vehicle stability system assist problem. Reduced traction and handling. See your dealer. Electric parking brake system problem. Parking brake not available. See your dealer. I have shut the vehicle down and checked the vsa with no leaks and full fluid in reservoir. I checked the harness and the wires are great. I checked the the brake unit to make sure they were not loose. I also checked the parking button and observed it to be clean from debris. This is happening to multiple people with the new Honda Civics and has now became a safety as it will make the vehicle brake slower and not be available for forward collision. Is anyone else dealing with this and what was the fix. Thanks.

Contacted Honda corporate multiple times including the dealer , no remedy to ensure the safety of my vehicle which is at risk of stalling during operation related to national recall of fuel pump indicating the vehicle is unsafe to operate. Case manager from Honda corporate uninformed, disengaged and rude. No transportation accommodations, no call or follow ups . Dealer not available to provide inspection or repairs. Vehicle is unsafe to operate leaving my family abandoned with no options in a vehicle I am making payments on.

The brakes slam on there own causing all safety features to go out and the car to go out of control. This is the 3rd time this has happened in 3 months. The dealership is telling me they won’t look at it for 3 months I could be killed in that time my car is dangerous.

When driving car, the car would reduce speed on curves, sensing cars o objets on the side as obstacles. November 2023 I rear ended a car, and the air bags fail to deploy, automatic emergency braking fail to engaged. No warning .

Brake mitigation system will automatically slam on brakes and show brake light with no objects in the way.

Was t bones September 3rd 2023 exiting the freeway by a Ford f-350. Injury to left side of vehicle mainly . Airbags not side airbags deployed. Went through insurance and was told to report it to the manufacturer. Due to this I now need double knee surgery as I have tears and fluid and now have spinal injury .

Steering- the steering wheel sticks and clicks and makes it very hard to maintain a straight path. Assisted braking- brakes randomly has caused me to almost get rear ended on highway multiple times dropped off to to dealer today. . Acted like they have never heard of these two problems.

I was driving down the highway near where I live in hanford California the highway is 198. I was going 68, 69 mph. No one was on the road my car literally slammed on its brakes and jerked to the right. This has happened 2times I have turned off the assist I’m to afraid it will happen again. I am bringing it into the dealership tomorrow and also have them check my airbags the light in the dashboard intermittently keeps coming on then after a bit it will turn off. The first time I brought it in for the airbag lights coming on they informed me that it was due to me pulling the seat back to far I am 5 foot four. I don’t normally pull the seat back. It would be more closer to the steering wheel for me, but there was a problem supposedly with the connection that is under the seat it doesn’t make me feel too safe to think that me moving. My seat is going to prevent my airbags from deploying god for bid if I get into an accident.

Several times, while driving, my car would randomly slam on the brakes when there were no other cars around. I feel this is a safety issue that could cause an accident to the tear end of the car.

While driving on the freeway at 70-80mph the car begins to lose acceleration, stutters and faults all fault codes on the car. Car then begins to brake itself to a stop all while on a freeway at a high rate of speed. I have to pull over to the side of the freeway, crossing up to 5 lanes of high speed traffic all while my car is braking itself to a stop. I have narrowly missed 5 accidents in the 7 times this has occurred. Each time while in the left or carpool lanes of traffic while passing other vehicles at a high rate of speed. I have to bring the car to a complete stop on the side of the road, turn the car off to disengage the braking system, turn the car on, all fault codes remain, car stays in limp mode or safe mode, I limp to the dealer and drop it off. 2 Honda dealers in 2 different states can’t figure out what’s wrong with it. Replaced multiple replays and other components and I am now about $3800 in repairs and the car is not fixed. This has been happening since March when the first occurrence happened. Second and 3rd in washington while visiting family in June and as of today, the 7th time occurred this morning while taking the car back to the dealer to have it looked at because it faulted on Saturday evening. Codes cleared when I started the car this morning and happened again as I was driving to the dealer. Each time the dealers have the car for a week. Say this fixed it, test drive it have no issues return it to me to have it happen within days of being returned. I’m terrified to drive the car at high speed even when I do get it back as “fix”????. I feel like my issues and security is being constantly over looked by Honda. Arrowhead Honda in arizona currently has the car for yet again more “repairs”.

Bought my 2020 Honda Civic si at 48 k miles. Noticed mild clutch slip and vibration on the shift knob. Dealership states I don't know how to drive manual transmission. I've driven manual transmission for 18 years. I'm not stupid. Dealership states it's wear and tear and not part of the warranty. My window motor auto feature does not work. Bluetooth connectivity issues. Collision braking system activated with no vehicle in front of me while I was going 40 miles an hour. Could have been rear ended. I'm at 50k miles not a good buy and bad service from the dealership. Mossy Honda lemon grove CA.

5-24-2023 I was driving my vehicle on a clear unobstructed roadway when out of no where the collision brake mitigation system flashed on the dash and warned me to see dealer after this occurred I lost pressure and power to my brakes. After exiting my car I saw the front rotors where colored red and the right front passenger brakes where smoking.

Automatic emergency braking (aeb) system alerted and engaged emergency braking on a clear road when there was no obstacle in the vehicle path.

While traveling at highway speeds, the vehicle suddenly engaged emergency braking causing rapid reduction in speed. The vehicle repeated this multiple times almost causing an accident due to other vehicles behind and around the car.

The vehicle has brakes with out cause. Two times I was on the street no cars in sight and the car just brakes without notice or cause. Then it happened again yesterday on the freeway. It was raining no cars close and it just brakes again in the middle of the freeway.

Collision mitigation breaking system problem.

Recently I saw the collision mitigation breaking system problem and adaptive cruise control system problem in my car. Honda has not resolved this issue, so taking it to the dealer will not resolve the issue and it is a safety issue because without any reason at any speed the car can abruptly stop and cause accidents. I asked the Honda dealer if they can disable this function and they said they can’t disable it. That is why I don’t feel safe driving this car.

Twice now when driving on the highway using cruise control my vehicle has unexpectedly applied the brake hard for no apparent reason. There were not vehicles ahead of me that were stopping/slowing. The warning "brake" comes across the dashboard. This potentially could cause a safety issue if someone were to rear-end me when the brakes were applied suddenly and hard. I am in the process of contacting the dealer to have the issue addressed.

Gas pedal broke off in a 20 mph collision- air bags exploded.

I was driving through an intersection when my car suddenly applied the brakes even though the vehicle in front was way ahead of me and in motion. Thankfully the driver behind me was not close enough to have collided with the rear of my vehicle. Prior to this happening as I was driving on the highway, the vehicle did mark the brake warning sign even though I was at a safe distance from the vehicle in front. This is the first time I have encountered this problem, howevever I am very scared that this could cause an accident in the future if it were to happen again.

I was pulling into a gas station when errors started scrolling on the dash, pretty much all of the driver assist options were failing then the power steering error came up and it was almost impossible for me to turn the wheel, luckily I was going slow. Had it towed to a service station and they could not even find out what the codes that were reported meant. So I had it towed to the Honda dealership, they expected rodent damage but found none and neither did the service station. Honda then said it was the battery, but the car started great without even a second of hesitation so I was not sure how it could be the battery. They replaced the battery and said it was fixed $385. 00 later. Less than 24hrs later, only about 2 hours of drive time, same issue except this time I was driving on a main road at 50mph. . I barely managed to slow down and pull over before the steering went out again. I am not confident that the dealership is even going to be able to fix the issue since they thought changing the battery was going to fix it! they are just guessing and to lose the ability to steer my car while driving is a severe safety hazard. I guess I will have to replace the car, only 3 yrs old but oow, as I will not feel confident it will be safe to drive in the future even if the dealership says they fixed it again. It obviously was not fixed this time!.

The coating on the wiring harness is soy based and rodents chew the wires causing multiple electronic failures. Power steering failed, adaptive cruise control failed, automatic emergency braking failed, lane keeping assistance failed. Vehicle is extremely unsafe!.
