A family member was driving at 65 mph a brand new 2021 Nissan rogue with less than 3,000 on us rte 95 (4 lane highway) in waltham MA when the engine stopped running/ lost power and they were able quickly pull into breakdown lane. They exited the vehicle and climbed over the guard rail, called aaa and had it towed to the nearest Nissan dealer. The problem was diagnosed as a fuel pump failure due to an electrical problem. The dealer replaced the fuel pump.

My car smells strongly of gas. Hunting for the cause I noticed gas coming from a hole under the car about right where the fuel pump is located in the back seat. After removing the back seat I noticed the fuel pump is pretty much sitting in a puddle of gasoline. You can see a slow movement of gasoline coming off the top of the fuel pump. This is a safety concern especially being that we are smokers.

Car cutting out under load when accelerating. I believe I have a fuel pump problem. I also seen where they are recalling 628,124 cars and mine falls in the 2019 sedan Civic si.
The vehicle quit running three times it acted like a fuel pump no check engine light. Came on I was driving on a city street and I had the air on.
First, the new "no fuel cap" fuel pump sucks. . It always get stucked when I'm pumping gas at any gas station. Oil will spill out. Btw (this is a known problem) second, ac parts! yes, I know that Honda had a lawsuit for their ac and did a recall on their ac condenser. There are so many other parts that have design errors but Honda refused to acknowldegged their mistakes. For example, ac evaportator? ac compressor? please help all the Honda Civic buyers! this is totally unacceptable!.
I was driving my car from benicia,California to sacramento and 20 mins away from my destination my car warning lights all turned on and I went from going 70 to only being able to go no more than 15. Got it towed to Honda and found out my high pressure fuel pump was bad. Look it up and seen that many more cars like mines had the same problem.

My car makes like a clicking noise intermittently while accelerating. When it's making this noise it has stopped accelerating. I have to release my foot off the gas for a couple seconds then when I accelerate, it is back to normal. This does not happen every day anymore but at one point it was happening pretty much at least once a day. I took it to the Honda dealership in October 2020 nd November 2020 and asked them to find out what's wrong. I told them it may be the fuel pump/system or something with the accelerator, and preceded to tell them about the noise. Both times they could not recreate the noise and therefore could not fix or diagnose the issue. It happens when accelerating from a stop, on a hill, accelerating quickly, and sometimes just good old fashioned regular accelerating. It has made me lose trust in the car like I could be turning or passing someone and it happens when everyone ond is critical. Needless to say I have been accelerating very slowly to try to limit the amount of times it happens but it still happens. City streets and highways.

Car stalled out while driving and would not restart. Pretty sure it's the fuel pump.
2002 Honda Civic lx. Single overhead non vtec 1. 7 l. Current mileage 181,000 I noticed every so often that I would get a smell of gas on this vehicle. Whoever it was more pronoun when the vehicle was running that I would smell gas,. After some research I decided to remove the back seat and remove the fuel inspection cover apparently my online research hold up a known issue with Honda Civics having cracked top fuel pump housing aka fuel filter, Honda says you have to replace the whole part. Personally I can understand how this is not a defect because something that is designed to withstand the elements and being an environment where there is gasoline. Should not crack. If fuel is leaking out of the house and next to an electrical connector? wouldn't this be considered a safety defect?.

The fuel pump assembly at the top of the fuel tank just under the rear passenger seat develops cracks because of it being made of plastic. This happened on my car. Quite a bit of fuel leaks out of these cracks when operating the automobile. The average person might not ever know this if it was always parked outside. The potential for fire or explosion is rather pronounced because of where it sits. If Honda is going to use plastic in its fuel delivery system then let them make sure it doesn't leak years down the road. I have read about this on the internet from other 2002 Civic owners. My Civic is not an si but it was the only 02 Civic listed on your site . We had the pump pump assembly replaced. It is very possible that this issue could lead to terrible accidents to other owners.
Filled fuel tank on my way to work, after driving to work on the freeway could smell fuel, thought it could just be residual on my hands since I just filled up. Went to lunch and smelled fuel again only stronger now, when I backed out of the parking space to return to work I noticed a large wet spot under my car, got out and looked under my car, could see bottom of fuel tank was wet. Drove to work, removed my rear seat to access top of tank, noticed fuel was leaking out of top of fuel pump when the key is turned on, went to Honda dealer near my work and purchased a pump, parts associate mentioned they fail regularly, seems to me there should be some sort of recall for a fuel leak that happens regularly.

The contact owns a 2001 Honda Civic. While driving, the contact noticed a fuel odor throughout the vehicle. While the accelerator pedal was depressed, the fuel odor became stronger and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to west broad Honda at (804) 672-1111 (7014 w broad st, richmond, va 23294), but the failure could not be replicated. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to west broad collision center at (804) 217-6354 (9001 w broad st, richmond, va 23294) where the mechanic stated that he smelled a strong fuel odor and that the vehicle would need to be taken back to west broad Honda. West broad Honda diagnosed that the fuel pump module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact was informed that the battery needed to be replaced and the radiator was cracked and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 01v182000 (fuel system, gasoline) and NHTSA campaign number: 01v183000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. Fuel pump housing found cracked and actively leaking fuel when pump runs. Discovered following strong fumes inside passenger compartment and outside the cabin. Cracks in fuel pump housing appear to be fatigue cracks. Oem p/n 17045-s5a-a00 or 17045-s5a-a31.
Noticeable gas smell, especially when engine turned off. Diagnosed by independent mechanic. 2" crack on plastic cover of fuel pump module. Repair cost over $400. He indicated that he has had 3 Hondas w/ this issue in 2 weeks. This would seem a significant safety issue, especially w/ the placement of this unit under the rear seat. Fortunately no smokers in this car. The smell had been slightly noticeable for about 3-4 weeks but became stronger after a trip w/ longer drive times than daily usage. A 6-10 mpg decrease became obvious at this time as well.
The car keep on shutting off. Checked the fuel pump assembly on my driveway. I found out a burnt electrical connector to the fuel pump. It melted part of the fuel pump container. It's good the tank was not full. It could have blown the tank and the car. My mechanic would attest for this. I forgot to take a picture of the burnt part of the fuel pump assembly. I still have the burnt connector though.

Fuel pumps are leaking from the top of pump housing and are filling up the cubby hole that they sit in, with gas. This pump has a access hole under the rear seat and fumes can be smelled inside and outside of the cars, with some leaking on the ground. It also is know to be on some odyssey as well. If parked in the garage overnight the fumes could fill the area and be ignited by a water heater or some other source. I have replaced many of these pumps over the years and Honda dealers are doing the same with no concern that they are a defect and could cause a potential safety risk.
The contact owns a 2004 Honda Civic. The contact noticed a fuel odor inside and outside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who stated that the fuel pump was fractured. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was 160,000.
My wife and I have owned our 2003 Honda Civic since it was new. Anyhow, a couple of weeks ago my wife noticed a very strong odor of gasoline from both in and around the vehicle. After a few days of looking under the car and not able to detect the problem, I removed the rear seat and noticed a large amount of gasoline under the seat. I removed the hatch to the fuel pump and noticed that the fuel pump assembly had numerous hair line cracks on the top area and when the car was in the on position, fuel was pouring out and going under the rear seat bottom. I have since ordered a replacement fuel pump assembly unit. Anyhow, this a very dangerous situation and could have had deadly effects as the electronics that charge the fuel pump are right where the gas was leaking. Additionally, if the driver of the car was a smoker, who knows what may have taken place. This issue is clearly a design flaw and I'm sure additional years of this model Civic have this same fuel pump assembly unit. The part number 17045-s5a-a31 (kautex.
