Vehicle experienced sudden and complete loss of engine power while driving in active nyc traffic. Without any warning lights or prior symptoms, the engine shut off mid-motion, the accelerator became unresponsive, and the car stopped moving in the middle of a busy roadway. I lost all propulsion and had to activate hazard lights while stuck in live traffic. This created a severe safety hazard for me and surrounding vehicles. The vehicle could not be safely moved, and no police or roadside support was able to reach me for over an hour. This incident placed me at high risk of being struck by oncoming traffic. This is the second major failure with this vehicle. On day 2 of my lease, the car experienced multiple system malfunctions related to an open recall, causing the vehicle to fail on the highway. That recall repair did not prevent this new failure. After this most recent incident, aaa diagnostics showed the vehicle was not drivable, and the dealership later informed me that the failure involves a deeper fuel system/high-pressure pump issue. They stated there is no guarantee the vehicle will operate normally even after repair, yet on 12/10/25 they attempted to return the car to me and told me to continue driving it despite knowing the defect is safety-related. As of today, I have been without a safe vehicle for over 10 days, and neither the dealership nor Honda corporate has provided a loaner or safe transportation. My initial safety case with Honda was also prematurely closed without my knowledge, and multiple attempts to escalate to a supervisor were unsuccessful or delayed. A vehicle that stalls without warning at speed is an extreme safety hazard, and this defect remains unresolved. I am reporting this because the vehicle has failed twice under dangerous conditions, and the manufacturer has not ensured that the vehicle is safe to operate.
On November 5, 2025 a few dash errors came on, they were: 1. Brake hold system problem 2. Vehicle stability assist problem 3. Emission system problem 4. Road departure mitigation system problem 5. Collision mitigation system problem 6. Lane keeping assist system problem 7. Adaptive cruise system problem 8. Hill start assist system problem 9. Tire pressure monitor system problem I called the dealership on 11/5/25 and made a service appointment for 11/6/25. The dealership looked over the car and stated that the code the car was throwing was "low fuel pressure". The dealership stated that they do not know why the code was present as the car showed signs of issues, they cleared the code and released the car back to me on 11/6/25. On 11/24/25 while driving on a major highway the car stalled about 8-10 times. I contacted the dealership and went right into the dealer on 11/24/25. The dealership kept my car and issued a loaner vehicle to me. On 11/25/25 I received a call from the dealership stating that the high pressure fuel pump would need to be replaced. The fuel pump was replaced on 11/26/25 and the service manager called me stating that they would keep the car to test drive and monitor it for further issues. On 11/28/25 I received a call from the service advisor stating that upon further checking the car they have located a transmission leak and found large chunks of metal in the transmission. The service advisor stated they would reach out to Honda and get the recommendations on fixing the problem. On 12/1/25 the service advisor reached out to me and stated that Honda recommended they clean the leak and release the car back to me. The service advisor stated that they were not happy with this outcome and then reached out to their district representative, the district representative recommended that they clean the leak, test drive the car for about 20-30 miles and send photos of the chunks of metal in the transmission. I am now waiting to hear back.

There is a known recall on the fuel pump and the last bulletin from Feb 25 #24008 lists all vins except ones starting with jhm. My Honda has shut down on 6 occasions. I took it to a mechanic who diagnosed it as the fuel pump is bad. He showed me the bulletin. When I contacted Honda I was told this VIN is not included. It has under 50,000 miles on it. I believe this is somehow being overlooked in the recall for some reason this is dangerous for me to continue driving this car. It is an expensive repair for a car with under 50k miles. Please help.

The hybrid motor DC to DC convert failed. When this fails it stops providing 12 v power to the rest of the vehicle resulting in multiple systems stopping or working very slowly. This vehicle does not have a traditional alternator. There was a TSB and an extended warranty offered to some models, but not all included in the VIN range for this vehicle. The vehicle was scanned and pulls the same codes as the TSB notes as the issue.

I had gotten a new battery because one point after work, my car would not start. I then got installed a brand new battery, and it still wouldn’t turn on. The only things that turned on were the dashboard, but no noise coming from the front engine compartment. I tried turning it on after, but it wouldn’t start at all. I then got it towed to an auto shop and they installed a new starter. The new starter worked for a month before another incident in a walmart parking lot where it would not start after turning the key multiple times. After a few times it started and I drove it again to the same auto shop. The auto shop had no trouble starting it, they turned it on and off several times without any fault. That was in July of 2025. Fast forward a few weeks later, there was two instances in which the car did the same thing, the engine was not turning on only the front dashboard lights. After the first try it turned on. Now on 8/22/2025 as I was driving on the highway going 75mph the car stopped decelerating. Pressing the gas pedal did nothing. It stopped completely, thankfully I was able to stop on the side of the highway but it was still a very dangerous situation had it been another time during the day. This time, the engine compartment, once the key was turned was simply making a noise but not starting or “turning over”. I lifted up the hood and noticed that when the key was inserted the engine compartment was shaking. I got it towed to the same auto shop awaiting the results. I looked up the symptoms for a faulty fuel state and my car is showing to have a lot of the same as it would be that.

Out of nowhere today started my car to go to work and it’s leaking fuel from the fuel pump area, only when it is running, pouring out fuel, I seen that some 2014 Honda Civic’s have a recall for fuel pump manufactured between January 2014 through November 2014 and mine was manufactured in February 2014 and I have this fuel pump leak issue, no recalls come up when I enter my VIN, but this has to be one of them, would only make sense.

I own a 2018 Honda Civic. On August 4, 2025, I brought the vehicle to Honda of greenbelt in maryland for a fuel pump replacement required by a service recall. Immediately after this repair, the vehicle began producing a strong fuel odor, and after refueling, the smell persists for several days each time I add gas. This issue did not exist prior to the repair. I contacted american Honda customer service to request assistance and to ask whether I could have the vehicle serviced at a different Honda dealership, since the issue appears to have been caused by the original repair. A case manager was assigned, but despite multiple calls and several voicemails, I have received no response or follow-up. All responses from american Honda customer service have been generic email acknowledgments, and no substantive assistance or resolution has been provided despite my repeated attempts to contact the assigned case manager. Because the fuel odor consistently appears after refueling, I am concerned the repair may have resulted in a leak or improper installation involving the fuel pump or related components. The entire fuel delivery system should be thoroughly re-checked to ensure there are no leaks or safety hazards. This presents a clear safety risk, including the potential for fire. I am requesting that this matter be formally reviewed due to the ongoing fuel-system safety concern and Honda’s lack of meaningful response.
Dear NHTSA, I am writing to file a complaint regarding an unresolved recall issue for my vehicle. Although the manufacturer’s service center has completed the recall repair, the repair has not been updated in the NHTSA system, and the vehicle still shows an open recall. This unresolved status is creating serious issues: the car cannot pass vehicle safety systems (vss) inspection. Registration cannot be completed for the buyer. The bank is holding funds from the sale until the recall is officially cleared. I have contacted both Honda corporate and the servicing dealership several times, but despite their assurances, the recall remains uncleared in the system. Vehicle information: year/make/model: 2019 Honda Civic VIN: shhfk7h62ku410338 this delay is unreasonable, disruptive to my business operations, and unfair to the customer. I respectfully request NHTSA’s intervention to ensure that Honda updates the recall status promptly and accurately. Thank you for your assistance.

To whom it may concern, I am writing to report an issue with a recall for my [year, make, model, VIN]. The recall has been completed, and I have contacted both the Honda corporate office and the service center in santee regarding the status. However, the recall is still not showing as completed on the NHTSA site. This delay is preventing the vehicle from passing the vehicle safety systems inspection, which is required to finalize registration. The bank is holding funds for the sale, and there is a risk that the loan may be canceled if the registration cannot be completed. I am requesting urgent assistance to ensure the recall status is updated so the vehicle can pass inspection and the transaction can proceed. Thank you for your attention, vtek motorsports 619-627-4495 shikeb@vtekmotorsportsca. Com.
The recall for my 2018 Honda Civic ex-l (VIN: [xxx] ) was completed at the Honda service center in santee. I have contacted both Honda corporate and the service center, and each time I was told the recall would be cleared, but it is still showing as *open* on the NHTSA site. Because of this, the car cannot pass the required vehicle safety systems inspection, blocking registration. The bank is holding loan funds for the sale and may cancel the loan due to the delay. I am requesting immediate action to have the recall status updated. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
On over a dozen occasions my vehicle’s check engine light randomly comes on and then my car stalls out while driving and begins decelerating quickly. It is very dangerous and scary when this has happened on the freeway or in places where there is nowhere to pull off the road. My Honda Civic is less than 2 years old and has already been in the service department at Honda for a combined total of more than 30 days. Honda keeps trying to replace things but the issue keeps happening and they haven’t been able to properly diagnose or fix the problem. It is unsafe to drive this car and Honda has been unable to fix it. I bought this car brand new with 0 miles and the issues started early on before I reached 20,000 miles. I attached one of the most recent invoices from Honda where they noted the fuel injectors failing and codes of misfires in all cylinders. They most recently tried replacing the fuel injector but it still hasn’t fixed the problem. This car is unsafe to drive and has been in the shop multiple times for more than 30 days for the same issue that they can’t seem to fix.

I own a 2018 Honda Civic that is subject to an open fuel pump recall. My vehicle suddenly became completely inoperable. When attempting to start the car, all of the dashboard lights come on, but the engine will not start or crank. The vehicle has power but will not turn over at all. This failure happened without any prior warning. I contacted nalley Honda in union city, GA, and they confirmed that the issue is related to the fuel pump recall. However, they refused to provide towing for the vehicle and told me the earliest appointment available would be over a week out, despite the vehicle being undrivable due to this known safety defect. This situation puts my safety and my family’s safety at risk, as I am now stranded without reliable transportation because of a manufacturer defect. The problem has been acknowledged by the dealership but has not been resolved because of their refusal to assist with towing or provide a timely repair. There were no warning lights or error messages prior to the failure—this happened suddenly. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate this issue further, as it presents a serious safety concern. I also want to report that Honda has not provided towing assistance or a loaner vehicle while the safety recall repair is pending, which leaves me without any transportation.
When trying to start the car the car won't turn over. When it finally does start and I am driving it seems to lose power as if it wants to shut down. Im afraid to drive long distances. I looked up recalls based on my VIN however nothing comes up but when I look it up based on year make and model it has an open recall for faulty fuel injector that needs to be replaced for the same exact symptoms. Please help as I am 7months pregnant and afraid for my safety.
1: fuel pump - this recall was fixed last weekend on 6/14/25. On [xxx] my vehicle stalled on a major road with my son in the car. 2: I have my [xxx] son with me most of the time. The vehicle stalled while I was driving. Myself or my son could of been very injured or worse if I wasn't able to get off the main road. The fuel gage said it was full of gas, but it wasn't moving with what miles the car said it had left. 3: n/a 4: I believe it was inspected because it states in the recall the the fuel pump impeller wasn't molded properly. 5: yes, all of my check engine lights came on. While pushing on the gas peddle the car wouldn't move. The car started to slow down and shake. It first appeared a week after I got the recall fixed on 6/22/25 side note: I don't currently have the documents in my possession. Its in the car at the dealership. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I brought my car to the dealership Honda north at 382 newbury street in danvers MA on 6/5/25 to repair NHTSA recall number 23v-858. The vehicle was returned to me on 6/7/25 at which time I was told the interior would have a strong fuel smell for 1-2 days, but that would disappear. After 4 days, the fuel smell worsened and the "check engine" light had come on. On 6/11/25 I returned the vehicle to Honda north. When I picked up the vehicle several days later, the fuel odor was minimal, and the check engine light was off. Today [xxx], the check engine light is back on. I plan to call Honda north to schedule what will be my 3rd visit to Honda north for this safety recall repair, which clearly is not being repaired properly, and putting me in further danger of crash or injury. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Both fuel pumps failed and were replaced. The parts were saved for inspection upon request. My car shut down while I was accelerating on the entry ramp to a major highway. If it had not been for my skilled driving and fast thinking, a major accident with injuries would have occurred. The mechanic who fixed my car said this was the 12th one he has repaired. The vehicle was not inspected by anyone from Honda but we did save all the old parts so that it could be verified. There were absolutely no warning lights, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. Honda has a recall for this exact problem, for this exact same car but the VIN for my car has not been released yet because they are doing it increments, apparently. What doesn't make sense is that they don't agree to accept responsibility for this recall on the cars that have broken down and been diagnosed with this recall because the VIN hasn't been released yet! this is a $1900 repair that I had to come out of pocket for and I need to be reimbursed in order to payback the money borrowed to pay for the repair. Can you somehow help with this problem. I have the receipts for the repair but don't have them with me at the office where I am sending this message. I can provide them if you need me to but the total amount paid for the repair was $1984.
Purchased a new 2025 Honda Civic, at around 9,000 miles, experienced rough idling and concerns for stalling upon turning on the vehicle. On park position multiple dash lights/warnings appeared, dark grey smoke and the smell of sulfur came from the exhaust. The rough idling made a crack on my engine cover due to the shaking of the car. Took to dealership and they found active misfires on 2 cylinder fuel injectors which lead to damaging 2 spark plugs. Dealership repaired and replaced issues.
It has happened more than once since 3 years ago. If I’m running my ac in the car, when I accelerate the car will skip/jump. It’s extremely expensive to repair and the problem isn’t even getting fixed. I basically can’t run my ac if it’s hot outside.

Our battery died in April 2025. We've had this car since October 2021 with only 8 miles on it. We've replaced: the pcv valve the pcv valve tube the maf sensor the sparks plugs 3 times which was $90 each time replaced our battery 2 times since April 2025 3 oil changes and finally replacing our entire fuel injector system with the hard fuel line. And replacing the battery the first time is what revealed all these issues because we kept getting codes on our obd-ii scanner of p0172, u0038 and u0100. Honda told us once the fuel injectors were replaced then our car would be fixed but that is not the case. The car can't travel further then 5 minutes before the spark plus burn. We replaced the spark plugs on Sunday morning and we went to the store and they were charred after that drive same day.

I received notice of the recall for my car more than six months ago, and since then, I have been trying to schedule an appointment at the Honda dealership in paramus, NJ. However, they always tell me that the replacement part is unavailable and that they will call me back. It has now been at least six months, and my car is losing power and consuming more fuel than usual. For my safety and the safety of others, I request that this issue be resolved as soon as possible. Thank you.
Car was purchased new on Jan 16,2025. On Feb 25,2025 the car spontaneously burst into flames while driving on the highway during rush hour traffic. Car was pulled over to the center median and exited while flames were engulfing the passenger seat. Fire department responded and put out the fire, but car is a total loss. Could have caused significant injury or death to the driver or other motorists. Insurance representative inspected the car and suspects failure of the high pressure fuel pump. There was a recall on this model on October 14, 2024 for this problem, and a stop sale order on Jan 17, 2025 but we were not notified. There is no reported VIN range on either recall.
Needs fuel pump replacement.
New Honda Civic 2025, 2000 miles. Noticed sudden very rough idling and concerns for stalling upon rough start. No abnormal dash lights or warnings appeared for the duration of the incident. Took to Honda dealer and confirmed issue, inspection found active misfires on all four cylinders. All four spark plugs were defective/damaged on removal. Diagnosis as four faulty fuel injectors. All four fuel injectors and spark plugs replaced, two fuel lines replaced.
I took my car in this morning for a recall. For the fuel pump. It took the dealership very little time to get my car out which was strange for me because originally they told me it would take 4-5 hours. Following the recall I needed gas since I was told to have a little under half a tank. I was on empty following the procedure. While I was pumping gas I had my hand help on the pump. There was not automatic pump enabled. My car keep taking the gas which was weird and then suddenly I saw gas leaking from my fuel point. I stopped the pump instantly. I soon called Honda but there was no pick up for a long time so I began driving a 3 mile trip from my gas station to the dealer. I started with 365 miles of gas remaining. Once I got to the dealer I had 355 miles remaining. Never in the years I have had that car have I seen my car consume so much gas especially on such little trip. Arrived at Honda. They are very nonchalant about the issue and I do not want them to rush the fix and create more damage and a bigger issue.
There are two recalls for my vehicles numbers 24v-763, and 24v-744. The dealerships has had me on a waitlist. Im concered about the safety pf driving my vehicle, especially since I have a baby. Is my vehicle safe to operate? the dealership told me the recall isnt important and they dont have availability on parts to fix the issues. I need a vehicle that is safe to operate. Iv also had other issues with the car that I have filed a separate complaint about.

The contact owns a 2017 Honda Civic. The contact stated that a gasoline smell was detected in and around the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. This is an obvious safety risk. The vehicle was driven to the closest independent repair shop and diagnosed with fuel pump crack/failure. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 23v858000 (fuel system, gasoline) but the VIN was not included. The local dealership was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 88,000.

Was driving and vehicle broke down. Pulled a code p0087 which has to do with fuel pressure and do to all the fuel pump recall and everyone else’s experience, I believe the 2020 ex Civics need to be recalled as well. Put my life in danger breaking down while diving down the road.
On my way to work my car stalled while being driven. I lost the ability to maintain my speed and my car decelerated to a stop in the lane of traffic. The car would not move forward and would not start after it was turned off. I was stopped in the right lane of traffic on a four lane highway during morning rush-hour traffic. A police officer had to remain behind my car in the lane of traffic with their lights on until a tow truck arrived to prevent an accident. My car could not be moved due to the high rate of speed of the cars traveling around it and cars had to merge quickly into the open lane. There were several near accidents while waiting for the tow truck. There were no warning signs or messages that the car had an issue. The mechanic the car was towed to believes the problem is with the fuel gauge and stated they had recently repaired several cars with this issue that were the same or similar base model and year as my car. When inspected the car was found to be out of fuel and, after fuel was added to the car, the cars computer system showed a higher amount of fuel then was put into the car. At the time of the incident, the car showed three or four bars of fuel left on the dashboard fuel display and about 40 miles until empty on the digital display range. The police officer at the scene observed the that the car was showing that it was not out of fuel. The component or system is available for inspection upon request. This issue is similar to a previously repaired recall that effected this car with the fuel pump which stated that the car could be prevented from starting or cause a vehicle to stall while being driven, increasing the risk of a crash. The car is regularly maintained, kept in good working condition, and is mainly used to travel to and from work.
Today my 19 year old daughter was driving and her car just died in the middle of the road. And it wouldn’t start back up. It finally did start and she was able to pull over out of traffic. This is a huge safety issue and about the 20th time this has happened to my daughter. It is maybe even happen more. I fill out one of these reports every time and I don’t feel like my voice is heard or that anybody cares. One of these times somebody is going to hit my daughter and I hope she doesn’t die due to an accident. This is a huge safety issue and I know there is a safety recall on fuel pumps. Just not my daughter‘s model. She needs this fuel pump fixed and replaced and Honda needs to pay for it. Every other 2020 Honda has a fuel pump recall except my daughter’s model and I think that this issue happening about 20 times warrants a recall. Would Honda rather fix the fuel pump or have somebody get into a serious accident because they didn’t. We don’t have the money to just buy another car or pay to get it fixed as it is expensive and I know that other cars are being fixed for free under the recall. If this is the wrong site to to bring this issue forward and have something be done please somebody let me know so I can address the correct people. Like I said I have filled this out about 20 times and nobody has ever contacted me or got back to me.
Safety recall #23v-858 received through usps indicating that parts are now available at dealership. Not true. On 12/04/24 vehicle was serviced at conicelli Honda, 1200 ridge pike, conshohocken, PA 19428. 610-832-1400. Service advisor advised that the safety recall parts are not available for installation. On 12/05/24 a follow up call received from the service manager indicated that conicelli Honda has not received any safety recall parts since the notice was announced. There appears to be a disconnect between corporate Honda and the dealership. Your attention with this matter is greatly appreciated.
